Should have always been the case. It's a business, not a living room. Seen people bring in their own food and drink too. Adds to why their food is more expensive. Some businesses post a 1 or 2 hr limit to allow others to enjoy the space.

I was a regular at a pub that used to offer free oysters once a week during happy hour for patrons. A certain type of people would come in, order water from the wait staff, and then proceed to devour the free oysters. They would then leave and not have the common courtesy to even tip the wait staff. Disgusting behaviour.

A Library that won the Presidential Award of Libraries had a computer section with glass individualized rooms so somebody could tutor someone, or have a private business meeting like an office, or do their studies like a college or high school student for private, quiet study that had outlets to setup laptop and other electronic equipment. This library was able to be self-funded from the donations of those who could contribute to use the library services at reasonable donations and not be charged an arm-and-leg like Corporate Greed does. That is good use of taxpayers' dollars for taxpayers' use.

I saw customers who wanted to buy drinks and food walk out of Starbucks when all the tables were taken over by students who should be in a library and adults who should use a WeWorks (when it was around). People like me don't go into coffee shops because of the throngs of useless people try to look important while using their laptops or talking about their future conquests and taking up seating. I've been into many small places where people just come to get a drink and snack sit down, consume and they leave. They are still in business. I've been to many large places where customer turnover is so slow, the prices are higher than the moon. In Abbot Kinney the prices are sky high at Intelligentsia and a visitor rightly described the place as a "theatrical wankfest" and they would DEFINITELY not let you just walk in and use the restroom.
