- Didn't have the greatest success with the route I plotted but still had the most fun day out riding rental mountain bikes in sunny Fuerteventura. Hard to have a bad time when you're cycling in winter sun in the Canaries and avoiding the cold and rain back home.
The Canary Islands are quite diverse so it was fun to see a different island to the more frequently visited (for cycling) Gran Canaria and Tenerife. I reckon Fuerteventura would be good on a gravel bike - hoping to make it back there this winter to find out!

fun....looking at those single track trails...prob the reason you couldnt find a gravel bike! (A lot of the gravel roads in KS are like that in fact) Have fun on vacay!

I watched the Madeira video before this. The bikes, cycling and scenery looked way better in Madeira but this place looks nice for a holiday.

The bike issues remind me of a trip to Ireland that my wife and I took. We are from Canada and a part of our trip was to visit the Aran Islands. We were on Inishmore and we decided to rent bikes to go around the island. I told the shop owner that the tires looked really bad. They were cracked like crazy, so who knew what the innertube was going to be like. We were coming back to the bike shop and the skies opened up. My back tire goes flat...I knew it was going to happen and, as stated earlier, I mentioned to the owner that I didn't trust the tires. No cell phones then. Managed to find a phone and call the shop. Pouring rain out now...they left a different bike from truck and didn't even offer us a drive back to the village. LOL!!!

One of my brothers has a villa on Lanzarote and rides a mountain bike in the volcano area. Great rides, he says, but it's not good to come off. The lava cuts you open.

Should of went to El Cotillo some good riding ie south shore to correljco or to lajeres to dead volcano or coastline along north shore surfer beaches ,some nice secluded lagoons in cotillo to skinny dip plus a great beach bar for a beer and watch the sunset

I would've made the same choice after beers. Beers put me to sleep, especially the hoppy ones, and brown ales with all the carbs. (Why I drink red wine most of the time.)
I'm not really at all severe in any way, but I did grow up when bicycles gave children freedom, and when the routes were considerably less menacing. That's one side. The other side is some countries use bicycle more than others, and they seem to be less picky about the machines. Those cyclists, (the Finns and the Dutch, for example) seem to hue to the approach to the question more or less along the lines of Major Harold William Tilman, CBE, DSO, MC and Bar, (14 February 1898 - 1977), who rode his bicycle across Africa subsisting, they said, more or less on bananas, on early 20th-c. African roads, and nearly certainly a similar bicycle, and who, when asked by an earnest wannabe at a talk recounting, for example the opening of the Himalaya, or the first climbing expedition, by sail, to Patagonia, "How can I become part of an expedition?", replied pithily, "Put on your boots and go.".

that's funny, also rented at Volcano bike when i was last on Fuerte. Was my first Fatbike ride and the definitely the best choice for the sandy desert-like terrain down there...
Go to Corralejo and then ride to Majanicho,Cotillo and Puertito de los Molinos,all arround the coast 😉
I did go up that end of the island and saw a nice looking bike path that ran to Cotillo
@@JulietElliottsChannel That is! Its more cyclable than Costa Calma, you can go to Puertito de los molinos (very nice beach and sunset at empty tide) and then go up to Berancuria! 🌅😍🤤 (and eat pancakes) 🤫😊
Yes, I did that route on a Suzuki off road motorbike. Great trails and then rode back up the roads to Coralejo.
They wouldn’t get the bike off the island. Hmmm there’s a reason why. They’d be pushing them that’s why.

Can't believe the rubbish some holiday bike hire companies rent out. Looks like those bikes had never been serviced. At least the hotel and cafe looked good.

Top vid as per usual J. Just gotta say that if the bike rental place you used don’t check-ride their steeds after every punter returns them then
1 how do they if they know they haven’t been damaged and
2 they are fit fit the next punter to rent & ride?
Pretty shoddy quality control there from that company wasting your time and also potentially putting you in danger by giving you an unfit bike. Still you made the most of your day and some top grub and cold beers seemed to leave you happier than I would have been.
