God, I am a daughter of the country. I was young, about 10 years old. My mother used to take my brothers and I on an outing at that time. We used to go on outings in the old Kuwaiti market, called Mubarakiya Market. Even now, when I am older, I go to this market and remember my childhood, and my soul dances with joy between the past and the present. Thank you, owner of the channel. My greetings to you from Kuwait.🇰🇼❤️🌹
I lived in Kuwait in Al shaab area. 2 min walk from beach off gulf Street. I happened to be in England for my summer holiday when Iraq invasion happened. Never went been back since. I was only 8 years old. I loved living in Kuwait so much, was a great place to be in 80s. Makes me sad to think how my life would of turned out if I still lived there. Thank you for this video, it put a tear to my eyes
I'm an Arab-American expat around your age- we ended up going back after the invasion and I'm still here (back and fourth though). The older generation looks back at the pre-invasion years with nostalgia. These days we have fractured and vision-less leadership, a highly-materialistic population, local animosity/hostility towards expats, Islamist politics (a bikini-clad woman at Salmiya beach would get a visit from the police), skyrocketing corruption, a pathetic public healthcare system, amongst other negative changes. It's not all bad though; the local startup scene is very much alive, shopping and restaurant options put many countries to shame, we have all sots of shiny new sky scrappers. Consider visiting sometime, but know that the country you left behind is long gone.
@@melaniehenderson4756 but compared to the 80s it's less acceptable. In 2010, the National Assembly tried to ban wearing bikini but the court declared the law unconstitutional. Nevertheless since then very few woman wear bikini
Oh my God, the memories are flooding back. I had the best diverse friends ever in my life then as a kid in Kuwait. We had a "BMX gang" riding around the neighborhood after school, checking out buildings under construction at night with torch lights, making up stories...
Wonderful Kuwait. Indian, born and raised in Kuwait. Parents came in the early 50's. I lived in Salmiyah. Studied in Indian School. Beautiful place. Went back to India in 86' and now live in Canada. Kuwait is in my blood. Didn't know the difference between any nationality... we were all one. Played Football (Soccer) between the spaces of the buiding. Ate excellent Shawarma from Salmiya center. Had only 100 fils then... went around with friends to cassette shops... Sultan center was a posh place then... Great Video... reminds me of good ol times...
I am an Indian, born and raised in Kuwait. I was born after the invasion and it is always nice to see how Kuwait was before 1990. Nevertheless, I love Kuwait. I left Kuwait and I am in Australia now, but I will never forget Kuwait. I love Kuwait and I hope to return some day. God bless Kuwait.

As an Indian-born who resided in Kuwait since 1999, and lived long to see this place as of 2018, I'm now in fourth year of college in the States, I find it fascinating to see footage of late-80's Kuwait. And I was surprised that some of the buildings, such as the Kuwait Regency Palace, still remain in present day.
Wow! Coś pięknego! Zetknięcie się z taką metropolią w porównaniu z prl-owską rzeczywistością to był prawdziwy szok!
