  • No band pushed back harder against the commodification of the underground as Fugazi. With the release of their third LP, In on the Kill Taker, the poster children for DIY punk ethics found themselves caught up in of one of the most turbulent times in the subculture’s history.
An earlier version of this video was removed due to an incorrect LP image, as well as a band member misidentification. Both have been corrected.

this album is a life changer. one of their tightest albums and one of the most aggressive. a difficult record for anyone unfamiliar with hardcore music. however sweet and low and instrument are just the best introduction to such a great band. pure inspiration

This was the first Fugazi album I ever listened to as a 15 year old. Randomly spotted it in the rack after having gone through a Minor Threat phase shortly before and hearing about Ian MacKaye's association. Goddamn if it didn't change how I view music.

Fugazi - The greatest live band I've ever seen. I'd love to see them again, but I'm guessing they'll never perform again, or release another album.
FYI - Fugazi released two 7" singles. '3 Songs' and 'Furniture + 2'.

You should do a death metal one either:
Morbid Angel's first 4 albums (Altars - Domination)
Atheists debut or its second album
    Gorguts - Obscura
    Possessed's - 7 Churches
    Any Death Album
Celtic Frost and Bathory could be cool too.

Finean Williams I guess if you weren't there you wouldn't know how important that EP (basically a record given the #of tunes) was, it blew doors & minds, and I never considered it as an Ep. My bad I guess, but not noting Waiting Room, their clarion call seems like a faux Pas to me.

Basically it means, the end product wasn't up to the standard that either the band or Albini himself envisioned. I think you can still find the Steve Albini recordings online. Compared to what we got, when they went back to DC, they're not very good (in my opinion). I can't quite put my finger on why, but they just don't seem to convey the same energy as their other recordings.

thanks man. Always wandered why some people cough* melonhead cough* talk about fugazi so much. Now i gotta check their stuff out more carefully. As i'm not a native speaker i never cared for the lyrical component of any song unless it just owerwhelms me musically, and then i google the lyrics. But mostly the lyrics are incredibly stupid or boring. With some exceptions being Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, Mastodon and the earlier Stuff of Cradle of Filth. My fucking God CoF had some awesome English words in their lyrics. Translating those lyrics was like science project to me.
