When you really think about it, it’s understandable as to why Pauline didn’t start appearing more often until Super Mario Odyssey. Since she really didn’t have any identity or character other than being kidnapped by Donkey Kong. (Or at least it seems that way about her character) Super Mario Odyssey is where she was given more character development and that is why she has made many appearances since then.
She always had more "glamour" than the other human Mario girls imo (Peach may have beauty but she's a lot more innocent and purehearted, Daisy is a screaming "party girl", and Rosalina's personality can be described with one word and that's "mom" [not that that's a bad thing]), but Odyssey giving her a focus on spectacle definitely gave her more depth beyond being "sexy lady that Mario may've dated once"

Super Sluggers giving Wario a whole city area yet having to fill it with lesser Koopa Troop mooks is so jarring when the entire WarioWare cast would've fitted right in in there. It's already bordering on miracles that Luigi's Mansion, Yoshi's Island, and Donkey Kong Country all still get different levels of recognition in said spinoffs, but even they aren't getting much (except maybe DKC)

Pauline is definitely a mainstay now. Despite her being one of the first Mario’s character, she’s given the new character treatment in the Switch era. Like Wario on GameBoy, Bowser Jr. and Toadette on GameCube, and Rosalina on Wii. I’m excited to see her playable in future spinoffs and maybe in more mainline games!
Pretty cool her current voice is actually pretty faithful to those scrapped voice clips of the original arcade game, and I'm super happy she's now a mainstay, she's my favorite of the Mario ladies to play as, she's super fun, and its pretty great she's given the respect she deserves as one of Nintendo's oldest characters And with all she's been given in just the Switch era alone, I wouldn't be surprised she ends up joining the next Smash, and would be pretty cool too

It may be seen as a filler exceptional character But in Party, she is a base game character, which seems more important to me
What would I would consider her full comeback would be if she's playable in a future Super Smash Bros game. I know she appears in the New Donk City stage in Ultimate, but I'd like to have her as a fighter, as she now has a large moveset potential.
@@MrDHWong1989 There are a lot of main characters that don't get into Smash, and a lot of side characters that do; I don't think Smash is a good metric for this (and personally I would find it a waste of a character slot, but I also enjoy all of the Fire Emblem representation, so I might be a little biased)

I just realized Pauline is more of a special character than an all-purpose one similar to Rosalina - I like that she's on spin-offs but I actually think she's great when used sparingly (but not completely invisible before Odyssey of course).
I played the Mario vs Donkey Kong games on the DS while growing up, so seeing Pauline make her comeback in Odyssey was really special! I'm also not afraid to admit that I like her far more than a certain Princess in another castle.
i was always disappointed to see pauline be used essentially only in the mario and donkey kong series but seeing her having a much bigger presence in odyssey with being the star of one of the kingdoms and singer of one of the best songs off the soundtrack definitely gave me hope to see more of her and i’m so glad to see i was right and ended up seeing more of her
I really do wish she would be given her Odyssey mayor outfit more in the games she appears in. The hat and suit are a great look, and would really help make her distinct.

@@CERISTHEDEV Daisy is Peach's Luigi, she's totally not an exaggeration of Peach that almost seems like a mocking caricature of her, she's more of a lookalike one could confuse for the same character in a different color, same how Luigi was often called "Green Mario" for how overly similar he used to look like in game, people have also called Daisy "yellow Peach", and she's not her rival and holds no grudges towards her, but rather they're very sisterly at times even, always together whenever Peach needs a partner, much like Luigi is to Mario

It's just determined by money. When nintendo wants to "go back to the roots" with Odyssey, they reintroduce Pauline. When they want to capitalize on the 2010s craze of Rosalina, they put her in a lot of spin-offs. Nintendo doesn't really respect these characters beyond their marketability value.
It's really cool that they kept her and expanded on her since Odyssey, but I'm not a fan of her always being boiled down to the one song and nothing else

i am actually kinda upset about pauline now big appearances not because i don't like her, it's more of the fact that paratroopa's playable role in spinoff games is now officially over at this point which is pretty devastating since they were one of my mains in double dash. Good for her and peachette, but i still want paratroopa back.
I think she's here to stay permanently. As you said, Mario's cast isn't exactly flowing with loads of female characters. Before Rosalina, the only major ones were Peach and Daisy with Toadette and Birdo only appearing every so often. Now with Rosalina being a recurring one alongside Pauline's proper re-entry into the series, the Mario series' female cast has grown much more which is great because having more female characters will appeal to girls and guys who like to play as girls. And not to mention that her inclusion in Jamboree makes it to where you can now have a full set of four female characters playing together for the first time in the Mario Party series.

Got quickly annoyed of this character after all her post 2017 appearances do nothing but reference the singing part that got flanderized
I think she's here to stay permanently. As you said, Mario's cast isn't exactly flowing with loads of female characters. Before Rosalina, the only major ones were Peach and Daisy with Toadette and Birdo only appearing every so often. Now with Rosalina being a recurring one alongside Pauline's proper re-entry into the series, the Mario series' female cast has grown much more which is great because having more female characters will appeal to girls and guys who like to play as girls.
And not to mention that her inclusion in Jamboree makes it to where you can now have a full set of four female characters playing together for the first time in the Mario Party series.
I love we now have four Mario ladies, just like we have four plumber guys
