- This is the 1st lecture of basic maths required to understand Astrology.
For Ascendant, following are the Zodiac Signs in sequence(you can check your Ascendant )
1 - Aries
2 - Taurus
3 - Gemini
4 - Cancer
5 - Leo
6 - Virgo
7 - Libra
8 - Scorpio
9 - Sagittarius
10 - Capricorn
11 - Aquarius
12 - Pisces
Methodology of Astrology
The input data an astrologer needs are the date, place and exact time of birth. These will
provide the material for the calculations needed to construct the individual’s horoscope.
A horoscope is nothing more than a map or diagram of the various planets’ positions at
any one point in time, with respect to the earth. The word “horoscope” is derived from
the Greek word “horoskopos”, meaning “hour watcher”. Basic ingredients of the
horoscope include the sun-sign, the Ascendant, information on the Houses, the Aspects,
etc. The astrologer will then proceed to interpret the horoscope, and hence offer advice
In solar calendar, one year is the time in which Sun moves by 360° and one month is
the time in which Sun moves by 30°. These are called “solar year” and “solar month”
respectively. Each solar month has 30 days, where one day stands for exactly 1°
motion of Sun). This calendar will be used in dasas and in Tajaka analysis.
A solar year has about 365.2425 days, but a lunar year only has about 355 days.
Once in every 3 years, this difference accumulates to one month and an extra lunar
month comes. This results in Sun-Moon conjunction coming twice in the same rasi.
For example, Sun-Moon conjunction took place at 0°23' in Taurus on May 15, 1999
at 5:35:32 pm (IST) and again at 28°29' in Taurus on June 14, 1999 at 12:33:27 am
(IST). Sun-Moon conjunction in Taurus starts Jyeshtha maasa (maasa = month) as
per Table 4. So 1999 had 2 Jyeshtha maasas. One is called “Nija” Jeshtha maasa and
the other is called “Adhika” Jyeshtha maasa. Nija means real and adhika means
extra. An adhika maasa (extra month) comes once in every 3 years and that
synchronizes the lunar years with solar years. This calendar has been in use in India
for millennia.

What exactly does “Taurus is rising in the eastern horizon” mean? Which eastern horizon? How are these zodiac signs arranged with respect to Sun and Earth? The understanding is incomplete without visualizing this diagrammatically. The video started nicely with the basics like there are 24 hours per day etc. Then boom! lost me at the “rising ascendent”definition.

Sir in starting you showed 1°= 4min but in last of video 1°=60 sec

Speed earth wise 1 degree is 4 mins. And in terms of mathematical calculation wise , 1 degree = 60 sec. (I am gonna clarify this in my next math video for sure. Thanks for commenting. This was very important to teach the match.

I don't know my birth time. What can I do? Secondly, help me understand that no two clocks show the exact same time, then how can we conclude that the time of birth of a baby in the hospital is the right and apt one? I am confused.
