- They are in every tacklebox. One of America's favorite search bait is the Bill Lewis Lures Rat-L-Trap. Earlier this year, Fishhound's John Loughlin was invited to Alexandria Louisiana to take a look at how arguably the most ubiquitous lure in all of bass fishing is made.

I have a newfound respect and understanding on why they cost a bit more than other lures of the same type
I use currently. Always sharp and very strong.
Much more labor involved than I had anticipated. Thanks for not going to China.
Really impressed with this company, been building the same lure design since the 60’s and haven’t changed much. Because it works!
And that is how AMERICA is supposed to work. THANK YOU Rat-L-Trap, both for a great lure and for doing your part to keep America great.
Here’s to Ms. Maryland, Alice, Marcus, Marie, Devon, and all of the wonderful folks that put the most fish catching lure, my favorite bait, together. Love y’all!
have a tackle box drawer full of them in all sizes. Thanks for keeping them made in USA
Awesome to see American products made by Americans! Love fishing Rat L Traps and as long as they're made in America by these great people I'll never stop fishing them

I am Glad that these Fishing Baits are Produced in AMERICA. By Hand & not by a machine in fullness. Talent & Pride are going into the Construction of these lures.

Thank You for keeping the company in America, Lead the way.
It's good to meet the woman who has made me smile so many times.
The story about the Rat-L-Trap that you tell at the end is 100% true. I know this because my grand-father was Bill's brother-in-law and was there that day. That is the same story that he used to tell me when I was growing up. Funny thing is 1964 is also my birth year....LOL Really wish that I had been able to keep the lures that Uncle Bill gave me thru the years because a lot of the time he would give me the proto-types or the first runs.
I remember when I was in High school, I was in a youth bass club. We got the opportunity to tour "Bill Lewis Lure Company" when they were down on Boltin street in a much smaller factory. But, the method they use today is the same they did back in 1978 when we toured there. I have been fishing Rattle Traps since 1978 and cannot count the number of fish I have caught. Interestingly, the measure cup they use for the BB's is a 45 shell casing. Back in the day, they used a ballpoint Pen Top to measure them. Great memories!
I'm in awe. Going to start using these lures more. It kinda makes me happy that it's mostly handmade, lets me appreciate each lure.
