This was co written by the same person who wrote The Haunting of Villa Diodati. Both are amazing stories. And this series, especially this episode, are amazingly directed.
So I hope RTD keeps this writer and director for his run. They understand scary, and I’d love to see what they could do under his supervision.

I've been enjoying Jodie's tenure as the Doctor. I have my criticisms, but it's nowhere near as bad as everyone makes out. But it was _War of the Sontarans_ when I had my proper 'Doctor' moment with her. I think it was when she was in the British Hotel putting the general in his place. She is now 100% The Doctor for me, through-and-through.

Ever since I saw Eccleston's Doctor, I've been in absolute love with this show. I loved Tennant, and I loved Smith - in fact, Smith was my favorite Doctor until Capaldi came along and took that title (he had me at his speech to Bonnie in The Zygon Inversion). I've been a pretty tough critic of Chibnall's era; I absolutely love Jodie Whittaker's Doctor, but I've felt Chibnall's writing and direction has been all over the place, especially when it comes to following the history and canon of what previous Doctors have done. But this episode was easily my favorite of Jodie's run so far, probably the best Weeping Angels episode since Blink, and one of my favorite episodes of Who overall. And I just discovered your reaction videos, and I have to say that watching your reactions to episodes I didn't care for too much has helped me find a new way to look at the episodes and to enjoy them for what they are. I think when we dislike something, it can help us accept it and enjoy it more if we hear someone who loved it tell us why they loved it. Keep it coming with these amazing reviews. I'm now going back to relive some of the other Doctors through your reactions because it is the closest I'll ever get to reliving my experience of discovering this show for the first time.

As much as I love the fun side of Jodie's doctor, she is absolutely amazing at the emotional stuff. If you haven't yet you should check out Broadchurch, she's amazing in that and it was also written by Chris Chibnall. There may also be some other amazing actors you might recognise! Loved the reaction!

  • @RenatoGPadilla

You're editing has gotten so good, I'm so proud!
I'm so glad the Angels got creepy again! Phenomenal Episode!
It was just entirely and unapologetically "Resident Evil" and I LOVED it!
I knew it was Peggy the SECOND the old woman said to count the graves!
I love the fact the The Division is not above using Angels for Black Ops... Makes you wonder what else they use. Daleks? Rerogrammed Cybermen? Vashta Nrada? Silurians? The Boneless? We have no way of knowing! Maybe even the Silence!
It was the perfect trap, really... What's the ONE thing The Doctor will run to save no matter where in the Universe they are? Humans. Boom. Perfect bait!
Somewhere at Division: "Hey, a Rogue Angel got to earth. How do we dispatch others to take it down?" "Oh, just put them all in a big rock and toss them! They'll be fine!"
The transformation scene was EVERYTHING I could have wanted! BUt WHEN WE SAID JODIE WAS AN ANGEL WE DIDN'T MEAN THIS!
As for Bel and Vinder... That's a thing. Didn't expect a mid credit scene for them!
    Yay! Rambles!
° I feel like this whole season has had Jodie be more "Doctor" than before. Thank God, this woman deserves it. Shame it only comes at the end of her run...
° Personaly, I genuinely don't think that Jodie's the most Doctor... Maybe that's because of the writing througout her run. Personally the person that embodies the Doctor the most out of everyone that's played them is Peter Capaldi. Literally embodied the best of everyone, even if his writing wasn't the best right before his end, but that's probably because of the stories rather than him.
° Old Lady Peggy could just throw the TARDIS through the Rift? Maybe? I'm sure they have cranes over there!
° Disjointed...I GUESS that would be the word!
Hoping for the best, already prepared for the worst! Good Luck! AND DO BLINK! THE DOCTOR NEEDS TO MOVE! -"Ren".

FINALLY!!! CHIBNALL & CREW HIT ONE OUT OF THE BALLPARK!!! I could only imagine what this episode would've felt like if this series started three weeks earlier (meaning this episode should've premiered on Halloween, in my mind, anyway)! That being said, all previous favorite Weeping Angel episodes are now NULL AND VOID!
So...now we've learned that you can destroy an image of an angel by 1) throwing water on a burning piece of paper and 2) smashing a TV screen with a bat. Also, we can set this episode alongside "The Pandorica Opens" & "Face The Raven" as instances where The Doctor gets suckered into a trap that is too irresistible to avoid.
Happy Doctor Who Anniversary Day & Thanksgiving to Past Shayla! (although from a subjective, linear point of view, it's now past the Anniversary and belated Thanksgiving to everyone now..........you know, wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey...stuff!)

Some people really dislike a Doctor that doesn't just snap their fingers or talk their way out of a situation immediately. In my childhood we had 5, who was permanently on the back foot and winging it from one episode to the next (often out of breath) and that's the sort of drama we're getting with Jodie. It's really helped with the cliffhangers, which were also a constant back then. They move from a universal threat to a personal level to potentially muting our hero. More please!

I've been sort of 'meh' about the weeping angels. They've been feeling a bit overused, and they haven't really scared me since their very first appearance. I mean, they really did scare me in Blink, but since then, they've just felt a bit been there, done that... until now. They were pretty terrifying again in this episode. This season has been pretty great so far, and I'm going to be really sorry to see Chibnall and Whittaker go at the end of it. I think I would really enjoy seeing more seasons like this one.

Another great episode. I said this in the live chat and I'll say it again - the Doctor becoming an angel was mainly for the cliffhanger and cool visual, and I think the Doctor will get changed back within the first 5-10 minutes of the next episode - there's not much room for plot development with your main character if she's a statue. I still don't know what's going on, hopefully we'll get answers about Division next episode.
My favourite angel episode besides Blink has to be The Angels take Manhattan, so well done and obviously sad.

Great reaction, Shayla. I’m finally caught up and able to watch your reaction vids, and I think this episode is the best so far this year. I had very similar reactions as you did. WHAT A RIDE! It’s really sad that this was, to me, Jodi’s I’M THE DOCTOR episode. She has been good, but like many other actors, she had a rough first season, but has steadily improved since.
I have to say that I thought of the actress that played young Amelia when I saw Peggy. I know it isn’t her - she’d be significantly older now. But there was some of the same vibe for me. And the actress playing Claire was EXCELLENT. (Note: there was an old album by Art Garfunkel called Angel Claire. Coincidence? Chibnall would be old enough to know about it. Hmm…)

Quite a story to show close to the show's 58th anniversary, and prob one of the best Angel episodes since Blink or The Time of Angels. The cliffhanger had me going "What?!" at the screen, but after calming down, how are they gonna finish this story in 2 episodes? There is talk of the story extending to the specials that will see Jodie's Doctor regenerate, but I hope the serialized format sticks with Flux, not beyond.

I've been seeing a lot of complaints about the idea that the Doctor is turning into a weeping angel (or has been a weeping angel from the beginning). That would make absolutely no sense. If I had to guess, I'd say that the Doctor appearing to turn into a weeping angel is just a visual effect to represent how she's being removed from quantum extraction so as to allow everyone else to still be held as hostages by the Division. Just my thoughts.

OK, crazy theories here. The entirety of Jodie’s run has been in a different universe than the rest of the show. Seeing as how the universe is totally screwed up there has to be some sort of reboot. In the end, Gallifrey will be back and all of the incarnations before our first Doctor will be confined to this dead universe. The Doctor (maybe Ruth herself?) created The Division and the amnesia was necessary to avoid the Doctor from revealing the plan whatever it might be. Also, the Doctor knew they were going to have to do some awful stuff and didn’t want to remember.
Bel and Vinder’s kid is apparently important. I can’t imagine why else they are in this story at all otherwise.

According to Chibnall people cant survive being sent back by angels twice yet Rory was sent back twice. He was sent back once to 1938 then again in the graveyard. Even if the graveyard erased the first jump thing when time reset, he originally went back to 1938 then was meant to go back again and become the old man version so yes going back twice is possible and Chibnall is still changing the continuity of the show.

Yes, nobody other than Chibnall has ever introduced new things or contradicted previous episodes. 🙄
One theory is that because the village in 1901 seems to be disconnected from where it should be, there is literally no past that people can be sent back to.
However we also know from Peggy that the Angels make choices. We already know they're vicious. Maybe if they're irritated or just having a bad day, they'll crumble you to dust. And let's not forget that in their second story they were outright murdering people.

@@dylankolers3143 Yep, Gat was with the Division! Look out for guns of the kind Gat was holding. We've seen a few in this series so far. Everyone with those guns was in the Division. I have a feeling Vinder and the Grand Serpent might be Division too.
