What about using the money from the tariffs to pay for the mass deportation program?
Deficits aren't problems for Republican administrations anyways, they can allocate whatever money they want.
As a Bernie supporter, if he had been elected in the same way and margin as trump just was, and even moved all the red states left in the same manner, I probably woulda said 'now THATS a mandate, now sit down, shut up, and let us do what we were elected to do'
And since I try not to be a hypocrite, imma take my own advice, sit back and watch.
If that many people voted for him to clean up immigration, it would be kinda wrong for him to just pay lip service and do nothing.

Bernie sold out. He was against illegal immigration stating it was a Koch brothers idea. Then he flips. The U.S. admits over 1 million LEGAL immigrants per year and has since 1998. A Yale/ MIT study in 2018 puts the number of illegal aliens at 22 million, not the 11 million that’s been reported since the Bush administration. Then Biden essentially opened the border.

As a bitcoiner, Saagar should understand Metcalfe's law, which is an exponential effect. X grew rapidly over the past year, opening people up to a new understanding of reality that was not sold to them by mainstream media or other social media platforms. Each one of those people can go on to influence others in their circles. Soon, the predominant view on X will reflect the predominant view in America and then the world.

I think that the Republicans can maintain office for some time to come, if they can maintain appeal to the working class. I'm a union guy, and most unions are still leaning heavy into the democratic party and the identity politics. I'm registered unaffiliated, but only after losing my faith in the D party about 4 years ago, just after the last election. I voted Trump this time, and I actually feel some relief knowing that Kamala is out. My key issue is National security, which means a secure border and the respect of foreign governments both friend and foe. The current administration is incapable of any relations with our enemies and our allies don't have respect for this administration.

I love how Marshall accidently described Joe rogans reposition from center left to center right politics over the last 4 years. He used to be left leaning and over the insanity that was the last 4 years he has moved firmly to the right. The left had a joe Rogan esque figure in joe Rogan and lost him

Good talk guys! From a center right perspective, the left went too authoritarian with vax mandates, censorship, bombardment of wokeness etc. The inauthenticity of the Harris campaign was a turn off as well. Media tried to paint her as this amazing transformative candidate when she was not. I understand the game and they had to do what they had to to try and win but it’s felt like an insult to my intelligence

The observation that turnout for Maga in 2022 wasn’t good aligns well with the fact that older demographic went for Kamala in this election. The elderly typically have a higher turn out in midterms

    I voted on
    1. Democracy - Trump literally is a fascist but that argument didn't sell to casuals who voted on vibes
    2. Economy - Harris tax plan is beneficial for all but the top 1% of earners while Trump tax plan continues to exasperate wealth inequality with it only benefitting top 1%
    3. WaPo had a survey that showed 80% of voters preferred Kamala's policies to Trump. If you look at the trends, now in 2024 the Democratic party for well educated and high income voters for the first-time (was the opposite in 1992).
Too many uneducated voters in rural areas without college degrees shifting to Trump because of vibes where the Democrats code as far left socially with technocrat economics while Republicans code as moderate Christian socially with the appearance of working class economics when there's a reason Musk glazed Trump so hard.
The democratic policies should stay pretty similar but the figure head needs to be a Clinton like figure with charisma unlike Biden/Harris who didn't have good enough rhetoric to overpower the right's messaging that painted them as far left elites.
Is that guy Andy Beshear? I have no clue, but Trump will get stale (both rhetorically and physically - he's an obese 80 year old man with a slow brain)
If Democrats can cleanse the party of the ancient figureheads like Pelosi, Schumer, Biden, even putting Obama to the past (he's currently the most popular Democrat) and create a new party that is essentially pragmatically progressive in a way that appeals to the rural and low educated while the Republicans code as technocrat with figureheads like JD Vance, Vivek, Elon. It'll be interesting at the very least.
I'm tired of the Trump era of hyper polarization and the rise of neo-Nazi ideology (Fuentes, Carlson, pro-Russia cucks like Pool, etc.)
