This method you are using is really thought out well using a pin jig. My question to you is, do you have to sand the surface of the wire before tightening down the bolts ??? How long does this connection last before one needs to clean the surface when the antenna is outside in the weather ?? Thanks Cosmic Antenna. VF

Thanks Victor, the jig idea took a bit of trial and error, saved me from wasting a bunch of copper.
If the copper is clean and shiny don't sand it.
The materials I use, copper, aluminum backbones stainless steel screws and washers all form a patina and will never corrode or fuse together I chose them to work together so the connection remains as low impedance as possible. Any other material will rust at the joint and block the signal. The joint should last as long as the antenna.
I did have a video called looking for rust. A closeup inspection of a Hoverman that had been up three years and no rust no white powder corrosion. The copper usually turns the color of an old penny unless it's near salt air then it turns green but it won't corrode with the stainless.

@@cosmicantenna9244The information is BANG ON for sure. I can tell you put some serious thought to everything going on at the antenna. This very same method of using jigs is used in the machinist and tool and die makers trades to this very day. Well done fella. VF

I did some machinist work when I was younger, learned the basics, could operate a lathe and do big drill press work, welding and cutting.
All good training, jobs were just tough to get at the time.

@@cosmicantenna9244 The best part of working with ones hands gave such a great feeling that I never really worked. You know what they say, "Do what you love and never work a day in your life" That describes my love of the trade. Peace.
