Don't toss fabric,I'll take it lol... Another idea for ugly fabric ale quilts for homeless people, kids in foster, animals I shelters, little tiny Angle blankets for baby's still born...ect..I know your probably not, literally, gonna it toss it out in the trash, but donate it to goodwill ect. But if not I ALWAYS take ugly & scrap fabric for thee above purposes. Thank you so much for the ideal of binding I love it, God bless.. Jennifer
What great ideas. We have several families at church who are foster parents and they've actually asked that people please not do the quilts, because during the fostering process there's so much happening that trying to keep track of quilts, not to mention many quilts show up dirty and can hold lice, bedbugs and can just be an added stress, so that's not an option for me anyway. Our church has blanket drives and blankets are given to the homeless and I've made pet beds. I'm let's say very blessed with an abundance of fabric and these are fabrics that not even my quilters friends like, but I'm finding out that through this video that there are people who like this fabric, so I may take your advice and donate it. Thanks again for all the amazing ideas. Wish all people in the world was so thoughtful.
@@tereasamarshall3038 that's is such a good insight into not making quilts for foster care, that makes perfect sense, although sad because these its seem like these precious kids need something of their own, something stable constant and only their, not used, they are in a constant state of uncertainty and instability. BUT your absolutely right bugs excess belongings to lug around ect. My church alos does the blanket drives, I love being of service doing the Lords work 🙂. I've been wanting to get into making denim quilts for the homeless, the are so warn and thick so the block out the moisture better. I'm no longer in Colorado but even here in California it's till get pretty darn cold. I truly hope my message didn't done across accusatory or meam spirited in any way, that was not my intention at all, I am probably the least judgmental person ever. As a pretty new quilter I had just learned about the Angel blankets for lost babies and had heard about the other idea too, I sure you profession and seasoned quilters have know about these things for years, which didn't even cross my mind at the moment. 😏 thank you for all the great teaching, you really are an inspiration to me and I truly appreciate all the time and effort you put into all your videos for newbies like me. @@jenifferfoster4312 It does seem like a good idea, but unfortunately some of these kids get moved from foster home to foster home or in and out of relatives and things have a way of getting lost or destroyed, one foster mom was sent children infested with lice along with their belongings. I totally agree with them needing something that's their own. Sad that so many children end up in this situation and seems to be getting worse with the drug epidemic. Just heartbreaking.
Good to know! I would also use that as a backing for my quilted tote bag top.. so I like to sandwich my top with double sided foam and an ugly fabric (which won't ever be seen) on the bottom amd then quilt my top.
I had so much of that fabric and although I have A LOT of fabric, nothing seemed to ever go with it. It would've been a darling sun dress fabric for a little girl, but I only had boys.
@@uniquewhimsy622 I would have loved to had a daughter! Someone who would maybe carry on my passion for longarm quilting and sewing machines. Honestly I think I could just live in my sewing room.
I would never use ugly or inferior fabic in a quilt that I make for charity. My name goes on it and I want to present my best. However sometimes I'll use a fabric on the back that I wouldn't particularly use on the front as long as it's good fabric and matches. In my opinion this particular fabric would be cute on that back of an Easter quilt, a quilt with rabbits or a sundress for a little girl.
Thats what I do with all the ugly fabrics ! Binding 😂
That would make a good baby doll quilt!
You're right it would. My mom used to make my sister and me quilts for our baby dolls. Thanks for bringing a great memory back to me.
Never stop creating; thank you for sharing!!!
If I lost my ability to make stuff, especially quiltmaking and quilting I'd probably die. It's so much a part of who I am.
That sample would work great in a pet carrier!
That's an idea I didn't think of. Thanks.
Excellent use of less than wonderful fabric designs ❤
Excellent idea. It changes the look of the piece and so useful to have some lengths made up too.

I can’t toss ugly fabric, I donate. I like a stripe binding!!!
I actually took some fabric to donate yesterday. Good idea and maybe someone else can make something amazing with it.
Thanks for sharing! It looks so different cut on the bias.
Over the years I've certainly had my share of less than pretty fabric, but cutting it on the bias and using it can give it a whole new design aspect.

Thank you. My brain is getting activated. Lol I could do this!
There's always a use for any fabric. I do love my sewing supplies and machines.

@@tereasamarshall3038 oh that’s sweet. Maybe one day you’ll have a granddaughter and you can teach her how to sew.
Who says you can't make a purse from a sows ear?
We crafty people can make about anything when we put our minds to it. lol
Good ideas thank you
You're welcome. I do love quilt making and quilting.
We humans are dated
Isn't that the truth and sometimes we like to bring back the old stuff to make us feel young again. lol
😂
I toss ugly fabric
Yes I use toilet paper tubes.
That's a great idea
Ugh, don’t make “charity” quilts with ugly fabric. Folks receiving “charity” deserve pretty jilts.
If a fabric is ugly, it’s not cut small enough.
