  • After my first service on my 1966 Rolex Datejust 1600, it was discovered that the crown was not screwing into the case all the way. Turns out the crown tube was too long. This video shows the unboxing and review of my watches second service with the Dallas Texas Rolex Service Center.

    Hi Diego, great vintage datejust had my 1603 serviced here in the uk at Rolex and they did a great job.. I love the watch and the service centres should give these watches the respect they deserve and your right these vintages are becoming more desirable...

    Awesome to see that they made things right with you. I had a few issues with Rolex's service department here in the UK - They outright refused to service one of my watches from 1960, claiming that the parts were just not available in order to repair it. I ended up having to take it to someone else in order to get it serviced, which I really didn't want to have to do.
    Really makes me question whether some models are even worth buying for the longevity, considering that the only other option is to send it to one of Rolex's recommended watchmakers for a (rather pricey) repair job, or source your own watchmaker and take a chance on them.
    Really enjoyed your videos on this though - Major props to them for righting what they did wrong. Stunning watch you've got there.

    Great looking watch. I know a watchmaker with 30 years of Rolex experience. He can replace the worn pins and stretch on that jubilee bracelet for only 150 bucks. He is in the USA and it only takes a few weeks . If you want the name let me know. I own 3

    Great vid. Just bought a 1603 model and had some doubts about the authenticity of the brashlet. Now i dont. It hears and looks exactly the same. Thanks!

    One thing I've noticed about having Rolex service the watch is that it often comes back keeping far better time than it ever did when new!

    Nice watch. Love it's your grandfathers. If there is any stretch on your jubilee band I have a master watchmaker that can replace all the pins for only one hundred fifty bucks. I just had my 1993 Rolex 16234 and it came out like new.

    My question is, Rolex is the manufacture, they build watches and they couldn't fit the crown to your watch perfectly???? My next question is, what happens if you send them your only warranty card registration and they loose it or say they didn't received it, now you have no leg to stand on?

    you should get the bracelet pins replaced, there is too much stretch which could and will eventually lead to failure.

    Great video, and I'm glad it worked out for you. How much push did you have to give them to polish the buckle? Sent my grandfather's date just in for service and they gave me the same excuse of not being able to polish any part of the bracelet.

    • @TheRealOriginalDiegoM
      @TheRealOriginalDiegoM  7 лет назад

      Eduardo Flores No push actually. Before sending it in for the first service, they said no way it's happening. After it came back from its second service, they took it upon themselves to clean up the bracelet and buckle. Class act on their part.

    Great video, beautiful old watch. I'd love it even more if it didn't have the cyclops. I wish Rolex wouldn't put the cyclops on their watches.

    This green card is not the original card .so its not to keep 100 years..just until your next service..!at every service you gonna take a new one my friend....!!basically is one paper proving you made the watche’s service on rolex ..nothing more ..just because they wrote on it the reference number of your watch. You can say you have also some kind of “paper”for your watch...excellent job from rolex service!!

      +Diego Menendez I'll def check out the review. I actually just sold my 114270, it was my daily wearer for a year but it just felt a bit too small as a sports watch (but shouldn't be a problem for you given how the datejust fits you). I'm debating whether to replace it with a datejust - I think I can deal with the small size in a dressier watch.

      Somewhere around there sounds correct.

    • @chubbyluna4467
      @chubbyluna4467 8 лет назад +1

      Diego Menendez Or probably longer if you don't use it everyday?

    • @TheRealOriginalDiegoM
      @TheRealOriginalDiegoM  8 лет назад

      +Chubby Luna from what I understand, the service interval isn't so much based on use but on time. Time solidifies the lubricants. Obviously use will add to wear and tear, but a watch that has been unused for 3 years may need a service just the same as a watch that has ran continuously for 3 years.

    • @chubbyluna4467
      @chubbyluna4467 8 лет назад

      Diego Menendez Thanks for sharing that with me. I thought there was a prescribed time frame to be observed in between service. Cheers!

    • @coloursoftherainbow8399
      @coloursoftherainbow8399 8 лет назад

      +Chubby Luna t's 3-5 years but they can go longer without a service as long as the watch is still keeping good time, but at about 7 years it should be serviced regardless as the lubricants dry up.

    Crap, it would be nothing for them to just make all the stem tubes and crowns for past models and they could even find aftermarket parts for that one. But since they've decided to kill off the independent watch repair business noone can get their older classic Rolex's properly repaired. The company needs to get it's ass sued off! If they really had any decent watchmaking at Rolex they'd have taken the time to properly file its stem tube length. And why did they say they needed to replace the case back? I wouldn't have one of their baseball caps, lie after lie from them!

    The video proves they're incompetent, it does anything but allay doubts, they goofed it up. They don't care about these watches, they don't have the skill to work on them now.
