Simu Liu is a trained gymnast and trained in martial arts for Shang-Chi. Tony Leung is a trained martial artist knowing Wing Chun and even trained in Kung Fu for this movie. Fala (Shang-Chi's mom) is a master of Tai Chi, being trained by the Tai Chi world champion. Andy Le (Death Dealer) is a trained martial artist and has a YT channel called Martial Club where you can check out his skills. The woman who plays Shang-Chi aunt (forget her name) is a master of various Chinese martial arts. The landlord from Kung Fu Hustle who plays the leader of Ta Lo in this movie is also a master of Chinese martial arts. Each of these actors assisted a lot with the fighting portion of the films and to top it off they got the fight choreographer from Jackie Chan's films. Apologises for the rant but the amount of talent they got for this film is actually amazing. I'm sure they did use stunt doubles from time to time but it's not as much as you'd think. Not to mention, since most of the characters don't wear masks in the movie it's harder to hide the double forcing the actors to do a good portion of their scenes.
This is a good written female character. The isn't a strong FEMALE character. She's a strong CHARACTER, who happens to be female. They need to make more of these.

Otherwise he could have stoped her before only abd he knew about the fight club too. So I think the reason was not that her father disregarded her or not loved her but it was again as she said she reminded him of her mother and at the dinner scene he actually looked in her eyes and smiled when he said he is not lost anymore and in past too four of them are shown to be doing some basic martial art practices so it's clear that he didn't disregarded her rather he couldn't make himself to do that This is obviously my opinion they can be varied

Remember guys, she's mostly self trained. This fight gives me T'Challa vs. M'Baku vibes. The only reason the Xialing/M'Baku held their own for so long was because T'Challa /Shang-Chi were trying to reason with them and were holding back.

Honestly, I felt like they did Xialing's character so dirty in the movie. I get that she was neglected by her dad because of her resemblance to her mother, his wife. I wish the fight scene with Shang-Chi and Wenwu had Xialing in it. It would've been a good closure for her traumatic childhood to have her dad rescue both her and her brother. I love her character so much and Meng'er is such a perfect fit to play Xialing. I hope we see more screen time for her.
I guess the type of mcu movie she deserves is like how she would display her leadership skills as the new leader of the ten rings againts other organizations, that means the movie will focua not just on fight scenes but tactics as well. It would be best to keep her character grounded and not too op.
I feel like Xialing and Nebula would be good friends. They’re both badass warriors with cruel fathers, and have abandonment issues with their siblings that they ultimately reconcile.

Shang Chi as a character was sick and Katy was a good laugh but Xialing is by far the best character in this movie and has the best progression in the MCU so far. She could give Black Widow a good run for her money if they ever had a fight
It's quite hard to defeat a Black widow like Natasha when it's come to close range fight . The reason is Natasha use both her body and mind while fighting. she's experience enough to understand whom she's fighting probably within short span of time. She was born and died by doing all these.
Xia Ling was able to keep up, but he was shocked to see that she was a fighter and was trying to talk her down. If he was ACTUALLY fighting to hurt her and talked less she would've lost(he was also going to kill death dealer had his father didn't intervene, or if he didnt hesitate, did we watch the same show?) Also, let's not forget that Shang now has learned and has mastered his mother's technique. Tho, Xia is a worthy fighter as she's self trained with more experience as she was fit for 10 years running the fight club, he didn't want to fight her, he was only defending against her attacks trying to talk to her, but that kick that knocked him out took him by surprise . Affer watching the movie Xialing definitely became one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite character in the MCU. She is just so interesting. I’m really hoping we get to see more from her with the post credit scene.

Look guys, I like Xialing as much as the next guy but can all you stop acting like she's the only strong female character in the MCU? Sure, they might not have had the same level of depth as Xialing but both Wanda and Natasha are good characters and have a lot more going on than just "tough girl who kicks ass". Natasha has a heart and cares for her team like her own family, Wanda has a softer side that loves old sitcoms because they gave her security. Hell, what about Shuri? She might not be a fighter but her brains and wit really shone through in Black Panther and her and T'Challa's sibling dynamic was adorable and fun to watch. I'm not saying Xialing is bad, far from it, she's one of my favourites in Shang Chi. What I'm saying is don't downplay the others that preceded her. Even if they weren't as well handled, they're not one-dimensional either.
Uhm, do you realize that this is Xialing's first and only appearance yet in the MCU, and it's not even her own movie? like, the first time i saw Nat in iron man 2 and Wanda in CA 2 and Age of Ultron i knew about them no more than i knew Xialing right now. Every thing don't have to be rushed and not every one are gonna have big character arc right in one movie where they are not even the main character
Cool fight scenes with her, but she needed more of a focus in the movie. I didn't like how she had little to know actual development in the movie kept sticking to what she knew best since she was a kid. The flashbacks were the best part of the film and I wanted a bit more with Xialing since we get an understanding where Shang Chi head was when growing up to be a warrior, and we got enough scene's that demonstrated where the father was before his wife, after falling in love with his wife, and where he is at after his wife died. Sure, Xialing learned everything from watching, but what would even be more better is if we see her use what she learn for herself, failed at first, but then prove to her father of her existence, one that he can't ignore and one that changes the outlook of his daughter. He doesn't see his wife face anymore, and instead see something else that changes his mind on training his daughter. Slowly but surely, Xialing becomes more like her father while Shang Chi slowly drift from his father's teaching, and when the time comes from Shang chi to leave this will further push Xialing into being something her father wanted in Shang chi. A warrior who doesn't hold back. A child who misses her mother but most of all misses her family. But would later become a warrior who wants to be like her father in every inch so she won't lose anything close to her by fate. Xialing also needed to confront her father, not just Shang Chi. One that forces Shang Chi to fight his sister and his father for different reason's. Stop his father from doing something bad and stop his sister from killing there father. This indecision leads to Shang chi not winning, but also letting both his sister and father succeed in there ambition. Yet, this would also show the length that Shang chi would go for family, who he values but wanted to escape the fierce change they were becoming. Whiles I like that people like it for what it is, I don't like it because I know what it could be, but its hold back by one thing; Marvel stuido's as a whole.
One of the reasons I liked female characters in marvel movies (or action movies in general) is just the way they fight. Just the acrobatic display is amazing. And the pumped it to 20 with Xialing man....

I rather her became Power Broker instead of Sharon Carter. Xialing clearly has more motive and logical plot to be another underground boss using another aliases.

Look guys, I like Xialing as much as the next guy but can all you stop acting like she's the only strong female character in the MCU? Sure, they might not have had the same level of depth as Xialing but both Wanda and Natasha are good characters and have a lot more going on than just "tough girl who kicks ass". Natasha has a heart and cares for her team like her own family, Wanda has a softer side that loves old sitcoms because they gave her security. Hell, what about Shuri? She might not be a fighter but her brains and wit really shone through in Black Panther and her and T'Challa's sibling dynamic was adorable and fun to watch.
I'm not saying Xialing is bad, far from it, she's one of my favourites in Shang Chi. What I'm saying is don't downplay the others that preceded her. Even if they weren't as well handled, they're not one-dimensional either.
Uhm, do you realize that this is Xialing's first and only appearance yet in the MCU, and it's not even her own movie? like, the first time i saw Nat in iron man 2 and Wanda in CA 2 and Age of Ultron i knew about them no more than i knew Xialing right now. Every thing don't have to be rushed and not every one are gonna have big character arc right in one movie where they are not even the main character

Cool fight scenes with her, but she needed more of a focus in the movie. I didn't like how she had little to know actual development in the movie kept sticking to what she knew best since she was a kid. The flashbacks were the best part of the film and I wanted a bit more with Xialing since we get an understanding where Shang Chi head was when growing up to be a warrior, and we got enough scene's that demonstrated where the father was before his wife, after falling in love with his wife, and where he is at after his wife died. Sure, Xialing learned everything from watching, but what would even be more better is if we see her use what she learn for herself, failed at first, but then prove to her father of her existence, one that he can't ignore and one that changes the outlook of his daughter. He doesn't see his wife face anymore, and instead see something else that changes his mind on training his daughter. Slowly but surely, Xialing becomes more like her father while Shang Chi slowly drift from his father's teaching, and when the time comes from Shang chi to leave this will further push Xialing into being something her father wanted in Shang chi.
A warrior who doesn't hold back. A child who misses her mother but most of all misses her family. But would later become a warrior who wants to be like her father in every inch so she won't lose anything close to her by fate.
Xialing also needed to confront her father, not just Shang Chi. One that forces Shang Chi to fight his sister and his father for different reason's. Stop his father from doing something bad and stop his sister from killing there father. This indecision leads to Shang chi not winning, but also letting both his sister and father succeed in there ambition. Yet, this would also show the length that Shang chi would go for family, who he values but wanted to escape the fierce change they were becoming.
Whiles I like that people like it for what it is, I don't like it because I know what it could be, but its hold back by one thing; Marvel stuido's as a whole.
I agree 100% Xialing's character felt flat in this movie.

One of the reasons I liked female characters in marvel movies (or action movies in general) is just the way they fight. Just the acrobatic display is amazing. And the pumped it to 20 with Xialing man....
