“Final Fan.. Dragonquest!” Had me dying got me every time I subscribe sir
"Welcome to the Velvet Room....."
I loved this video lmao. I got slightly angry when you did this 3:34. My beloved FF9 got dumped ;-; But then the last series that you mentioned you brought it back :D that made me so happy xD. I love videos that can bring out my emotions and this one did it. Thanks :)
"Starting Jrpg"
Me: Chrono Trigger and Wild Arms?
Ni No Kuni is a pretty good starting point as well.
This man is right
Jrpg should be like ni no kuni
Some of the bosses are ruthless and the AI is so dumb but I agree. It is fairly easy to get into and the story is excellent.
@@nickwick35 The last boss was so hard. I feel bad for people who haven't leveled by a lot when reaching the final area
@@israelgirmay5110 Omg or that pig boss
@@nickwick35 I honestly found all the other bosses easy. I took them down the same way every time, I wish the battle scenarios had more depth than drippy telling you the boss has a weakness for Ice or something. but the last boss? oh boy o' boy!
Really well done and interesting video. Thank you.
Xenogears was the game that made me want to search for more rpgs. I'm still searching for something as good.
Straight up facts here
With the way most Triple A games have been releasing, I pray that JRPGs stay the way they are🙏
**cries in chrono trigger**
Masterful avoidance to my favorite jrpg series! Without it, i might not be the fan i am today
That knock at 7:00 LOL thought you were gonna start talking about Earthbound
5:41 i never went to highschool but always wanted to. I must buy this game because i have completed Bully too many times
ngl i wholeheartedly recommend p5 royal as a start to jrpgs, it's what recently got me into loads of jrpgs and the cesspool that is megaten
I guess but not a lot of jrpgs got life sim mechanics and most people like persona because of that theyre gonna be disappointed when they play a game like tales of or FF
It's a shit game though and its pacing will turn away all new players.
Idk man my first jrpg I'm playing now is persona 5 and I'm pretty hooked, but I like the life Sim type game so I may not be the best testimony
0:23 I see no problems here
Dragon Quest is so special
Ni no kuni, earthbound, chrono trigger, radiant historia: Are we joke to you
EarthBound was my first RPG and Radiant Historia was my sister's first RPG. I definitely agree that they're great ways to get into the genre!
I'love all jrpg games.
you should have 100k subs
Chrono trigger, super Mario rpg and Pokemon emerald are great for starting turn based rpgs
FF forever ♡
The way you keep almost dropping final fantasy has me dying 😂 bc the whole reason I came to this video is I'm trying to figure out Final Fantasy 12 🤣 once you brought up pokemon it pretty much made sense tho
My problem with JRPGs is staying committed to them. Does anyone have any ideas as to how an ADHD person can stay into a JRPG for the whole 100 hours?
Hmm, well there are a number of ways. You could aim to play games with a more engaging gameplay that will keep your attention for longer, like Fire Emblem (makes you think a bit more) or kingdom hearts or nier automota (tests your reflexes). Or if your just interested in the story you could opt to just check out summaries or lets plays on RUclips for all the best games, as there are plenty of those hanging around. Finally you could aim to start out with older SNES JRPGs like the early Dragon Quests or Chrono trigger, as they tend to have a shorter run time due to cartridges not being able to hold that much data (still will probably last 20-30 hours though)
That being said, there's nothing wrong with admitting that JRPGs just aren't for you. The good majority of them are long winded and tend to deal with similar topics or settings, and if you find yourself bored going through something like that, don't force yourself to finish it just because other people like it.
cant believe you dont like conception 2... a MASTERPIECE of a game..
I'm just jealous that nothing I ever make will compare to its majesty.
@@firescale2091 truly conception 2 is a pinnacle of intellect. i replay it once a year if not more and i only have just began to understand its incredible layers of symbolism and wit.
Final
Tales of
That killed me
No mention of Suikoden? Sadface.jpg
I think it's also one of the easiest series to start with, because the gameplay is rather basic but the story gives you a taste of what kind of interesting narratives JRPGs can have.
It's definitely a series worth bringing up. The main reason I didn't mention it is that it hasn't had a main series release since 2006, and I wanted to talk about games that are more accessible. But it's certainly a great jumping on point if you do get your hands on it.
@@firescale2091 Fair point. And a real shame too. Suikoden got me into JRPGs and even tactics games...
I was hoping to see golden sun tho its the best jrpg imho
Can someone please help me understand Final Fantasy?
I'm as lost as you are. I'm new to JRPGs and starting a new final fantasy is overwhelming because there are so many mechanics and story bits I've missed since I missed the last 10+ titles in the series. I'm having the same issue with Dragon Quest. Just bought 11s on switch and I feel really lost in it.
@@clbl8706 Dragon Quest is the most familiar series to me. XI, despite all the praise from fans and critics alike, isn't the strongest title in the series for me. Maybe not even top 5. My advice would be to start with either VIII, which is a hella long game by the way and for someone new to JRPGs requires some looking up strategy towards the last 40%ish of the game, or Dragon Quest IV, which does a very good job of teaching you the kind of roles different types of characters play in JRPGs in general, including things like placement of a character in the party. Hope that helps!

Agree with you at 5:54
Oh no ff9 theme respectfully kicking my ass with violin strings 😃
Final [...]
Anyone know what the game is at 6:32?
Riviera the promised land, though it's not a game I'd recommend.
Hi what song is on 5:07?
That would be school theme from the PSP remake of Persona 1.

Lets go to the vialtiroom
2 of the first jrpgs I really tried were final fantasy 10 and xenoblade chronicles 2 and that was... not fun, at least for a noobie
I only came here to find JRPGs because I was getting bored. Didn't expect to laugh so much.
The Final Fantasy shade. 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Start with jrpgs on old platforms first. Because once you get a taste of ths latest jrpgs in the new platform, you will rarely go play the old ones, i had a friend who started on snes now he thinks games on ps2 looks crap(forget the story or characters or gameplay), the visual is the first obstacle for him to appreciate old games. 😰
0:24 what's the problem? Not seeing it. Are you talking about bullshit censorship, is she censored?
Tom Ffrench whatcha mean? Is he taking issue because her clothes aren’t more revealing?
“For every bad impression [Final Fantasy] makes, I feel like it makes a good one”
*shows Vivi*
Checks out.
I died with this FF gag hahahahahahahhaha
I think I'm starting with Tales of Symphonia since I bought really cheap on Steam and I got no money to buy the newer ones hahaha. Played Pokemon Red a while ago and it wasn't for me. I hope this one will catch.
Wow that got old fast
Ehh, I can never get _that_ into FF. DQ and Megaten for me.
If you don't mind reading (a lot, I mean it... A LOT OF READING) I would suggest Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Simply put, it's a masterpiece. You can pick the difficulty level based on your familiarity with JRPG's.
But like the first 15 hours of fc are boring asf. I wouldn't really tell people to play it first
No.lets talk devel survivor or persona
Super Mario RPG on the SNES might be a good choice too.
No love for Mother 😕
I guess I'd have to disagree about FF XIII-2 being a bad game. Out of all the post-12 games, FF XIII-2 has been the most enjoyable for me, with FF XIV taking the lead only after Shadowbringers came out.
Good vid but so try hard on the comedy…
It's easy to deny that FF is the king of JRPGS - it existed in the first place to get a piece of DQ's market, it lost its creator long ago, is a clusterfug, and the games just aren't as popular as DQ in Japan. The only time you could say FF was the king of JRPGs was the late 90s, every other half-decade period DQ has dominated FF in Japan.
The last time FF could even pretend to compete was 2001 with X. It's been longer since 2001 than the beginning of JRPGs (1986) to then. It's time to forget FF.
@Tom Ffrench because JRPG = japan
@Tom Ffrench America being the biggest video game market doesn't mean jack to Japan. Their tastes being sated first and foremost is what matters to them. And it's served them well since it's kept them from going woke like the rest of the industry because they still understand what makes video games art.
