You both have such a great perspective of life; diversity, acceptance and appreciation of all cultures. As parents, those are such wonderful beliefs to pass on to your children. The world needs more of those qualities.
YOU 2 are so correct, food prices in the us are nuts. The crime has gone crazy, in NO CAL there is a shooting almost daily and someone dies. All around not the best place to be. Glad you guys are safe . I am sure that Germany was safe as well. Thank you so much for sharing.
It's Morito Shrine Reitaisai which celebrates the shrine which was built in Sep 1180. Please lock your bikes. Many people get an extra lock for more safety, actually.
Hello beautiful family, a lovely reflection video of home, family, culture, diversity and values. Family is definitely home and something you both invest your energy in to ensure your home is filled with love, kindness, and openness to other lifestyles and possibilities. Your courage and resilience is admirable.
My husband recently got a job on base in Grafenwoehr Germany and we live in a small town about 15 minutes away. I love the amount of traveling we have done in the 3 months we have been here. The food is great and it is so beautiful. I also see what you mean about it being so safe here which I love. The language aspect tho is very difficult because its such a hard language. I'm getting better at recognizing some words but speaking it is still difficult. I think the hardest part is being away from my family back in the states and its difficult for my kids too because they are older and this was a major change for them.
We loved our time in Graf! Not sure if you’ve seen some of our past videos, but that’s where we lived for nearly 3 years. So many aspects to think out when living abroad. I can’t imagine moving with older kids. Hopefully they can adjust well!
You guys are so adaptable and resilient I think you will be successful as a family wherever you are, but I do feel that as the kids get older and develop their own friendships/bonds outside the home that they will require (and maybe demand) more permanence and stability in their lives.
Totally makes sense. 4 countries for us, and I completely agree with your pros and cons, especially the definition of home. Well done, thanks for the great video! One con for me to add: filing taxes with the US is a pain…
@@OurStorytoTell, we have lived in Australia, Japan, US (I’m an American), Germany and back to Japan now. All have been great, but Japan is my favorite.
I love your attitude towards navigating cultures new to you and how curious and positive you are! It´s nearly a year now that you´ve been in Japan, right? Will you have to/want to leave at the end of year two? Or is there a bit of wiggle room? I think, wherever life takes you, be it another international destination or Utah or another state in the US, you will meke it interesting and special for your family and I am looking forward to seeing where you decide to go. And of course you gotta come back to Germany, at least for visits :)
Aww we miss you!! And appreciate the comment about our attitudes! We are already brewing plans for our adventure after Japan & I think it will surprise everyone lol! 😂 So STAY TUNED for sure on that one! We love to hear you’ll be along for the adventure wherever it is! 💕
@@OurStorytoTell Whaaaaa! Now you got me all curious and I want to know!!! I love brewing plans, by the way. It´s an awesome part of the journey just thinking about all the possibilities and what if´s :)
Yes moving to an other country is a challenge talking from experience but soon got use to everything I couldn’t keep moving from country to country . we had friends that served in the military they were based all over Europe etc Their daughters definitely saw different places 😊 have a fantastic time but towards their teens they had enough ,they wanted to have a proper family home, go to high school, collage have friends over Visit family .was a tough decision for them all .
16:05 Another RUclips vlogger I watch is Somers in Alaska. Every now and again they do a shopping run to Costco. The prices of groceries in Alaska are horrendous. I don't understand how working people in low-paid jobs can afford to live there. And now it's soon approaching winter and the cost of heating is another enormous financial burden.
Imho it's very difficult fo children not to be able to grow roots in a specific place. I experienced it myself in a minor case and saw it with people of families moving around the world. For adults it's not that much of an issue (maybe they're mentally more stable?) but for children - in my personal experience and opinion - it's a deficit revealing it's negative impact later as grown ups.
For Willa, I recommend Kidzania Theme Park 🙂 You can experience a lot of things and it's a city where children are the main characters. You should also go to the earthquake experience facility, I think it's probably free 🤔 It might be too early for Noah 🙂 Did you know that if you go to the supermarket about an hour before closing time, you can get discounts and buy things cheaply? If you haven't done so yet, please take advantage of it. Enjoy Halloween 🎃❤️👍
Oh thanks for the recommendation to the theme park! We will have to check it out! We have heard about the earthquake stimulation! Noa would definitely get freaked out so you’re right, she is too young. Also, yes we love the discounted foods at the supermarket 😋😊
葉山はいいよね〜大好き。So how’s willa ? “Is she enjoying the Japanese youchi-en ?”that’s the only my question that I’ve been wanted to ask you guys ever since you had updated about Willa’s youch-en things clip. But I’m glad you mentioned about Willa that sounds like she is enjoying youchi-en life. Y’know to watch this channel is about Riss+Tanner+Willa+Noa everyone going well for me which is like A name of something in somewhere lol. I love that tho.But one thing, I think that probably it’s better to keep your bicycle locked when you leave from the bicycle.Yes, Japan is one of safer countries in the world but every country has some not good people as in general and its sadly Even though I am a Japanese, but I have had experienced my bicycle stolen 2 times in my life. So I highly recommend to rock your bicycle for just in case. I hope that you and your family enjoy your life in Japan as long as you guys live in Japan. Thank you for your nice videos.
Yes we were referring to the Yokosuka military Navy base. That is so random it was the venue, but we love it! We are actually planning on renting out a place for Willa’s birthday on the base! Maybe one of the places available will be in the school lol? And yes on base language isn’t the problem, but we live off base & love to be as integrated as possible. This language is hard to adapt to though 😜
It seems that whether you speak a little Japanese or not at all, your impression of living in Japan is completely opposite 😰😊😆 It is not necessary to speak fluently in sentences. Even if you just say the words in bits and pieces, you can get the message across quite well! For example, when you want a fork for a child in a restaurant. ( Child , Want , Fork , Two ) At a convenience store, when you don't need a bag. ( Bag , No ) Say it slowly and you'll be fine, and with your smile, they feel good 👌👌👌✨
Tough to balance family and your personal desires. I don't think it's something that can ever be figured out or reconciled. Go back to the US for a bit and see how it feels. I will add that your kids most likely won't remember these experiences because they are too young, especially Noah.
You both have such a great perspective of life; diversity, acceptance and appreciation of all cultures. As parents, those are such wonderful beliefs to pass on to your children. The world needs more of those qualities.
Oh wow thank you ❤️ Very kind to say! We are hopeful that they will be accepting and kind of everyone and different cultures!

After reading all these comments we are locking our bike 😂 Thank you!

Yes you know exactly what is most important!! It’s a great reminder for us where to put our energy. Thank you 💕

Thank you! Yeah we will continue to see how the girls are feeling and what their preferences are!
There is a song that says : Wherever I lay my hat is my home. That reminded me when Rissa was talking about feeling or making a home .
Totally makes sense. 4 countries for us, and I completely agree with your pros and cons, especially the definition of home. Well done, thanks for the great video! One con for me to add: filing taxes with the US is a pain…
AHH the taxes! 100% such a pain. So cool you’ve lived in 4 different countries! Wow! What ones?

24:57 Is the work contract extendable indefinitely or is this move to Japan the last you can make with the US Military?
Emory says you should listen to your children!! She needs her aunt in more of her life😎😃
Thank you for sharing! Thats super interesting 😊 Are you LDS? How much longer will you be in Japan before moving back?

How does voting work for you? Can you vote at the military base? Do you vote for your birth state Utah or is there like an expat vote?

Geez, that bike story is just...equal parts sad and somehow _funny?_ I don't even know...
Did it at least help alleviate homesickness a little?
Haha yes quite the story huh? 😂 I guess we felt a bit at home being humbly reminded by our fellow Americans 😜
