    Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Part 2 (Final Part) of sad memoirs of a German soldier captured by the Red Army in December 1942 near Stalingrad. He had to spend seven horrible years in various Soviet prisons under inhuman conditions before he was finally released and got back to Germany. This is link of the playlist

    First off I want to thank you for continuing a series that seems like it might be very interesting. When you started the last series after only one episode of this one I thought for sure that I wasn't going to get any more episodes and I'm very interested in this character. Something else that catches my imagination about this is the fact that we always picture these German soldiers as having started out in Poland or at least in Russia in June of 1941. This guy is coming onto the scene when they're about to be in deep shit and they're taking ona force that they're not going to be able to hold back. He's coming into a losing situation and he's got no time to catch up. It gives you a better understanding of why so many soldiers hated replacement soldiers because they died so quickly without having had the survival skill set that experience gives you

    You will never convince me Stalin was not as evil as Hitler. Granted murdering six million Jews was unprecedented genocide, but deliberately starving out innocent Ukrainian women and children to take their land was evil also. Stalin did not just kill people who opposed him, and even if he had, that didn't make it right. Murder is murder. The real reason the American left hates Hitler more is because Stalin basically killed his own people, while Hitler started a war. Nothing angers an American liberal more than making him leave his comfortable home, put on a uniform, and actually fight tyranny. They prefer shouting opposition and placing embargoes from a safe distance. The Soviets/Russians were never our allies. They were merely co-belligerents who had the same enemy. They did nothing against Japan until It was beaten to the ground and ready to surrender.

      It is worse than you think!
      About 30k Americans living in the Soviet Union were killed by Stalin after being welcomed in.
      The US embassy did nothing to help, the Ambassador was a Stalin Groupie!
      Hoover, later President , saved a million Soviet citizens in the 1920’s with direct US on the ground food aid during the famine .

      WTF are you talking about? The American left? I can't think of one person who thinks Stalin was anything more than what he was. A cold blooded murder who killed more of his own people than Germans. There's really only one difference. Hitler started the war when Germany invaded Russia they killed and burned everything in their path. Man woman and children. I was a Republican for 35 years until trump. I'm a registered independent now. The president during WW2 was FDR. A Democrat. I don't know one person who would consider themselves left who feels this way. Of course I have never asked because WTF does it matter.

      People also take for granted that the Soviet Union only ended up on the same side as the Allies out of the pure circumstance. Had Nazi Germany not invaded Soviet territories, then the Soviets would have gladly continued their economic partnership with Germany; trading with them raw materials in exchange for weapons and technology as they had done throughout 1939-1941. Stalin's plan was to encourage Hitler to wage war with the west (Britain and France) hoping that they would destroy each other like they had done in the First World War. That's when the Soviets would have invaded Europe and claimed the continent for themselves.

    Before we feel too sympathetic, he got about the same treatment from the Russians as the Germans gave Russian prisoners. Both wrong and evil. Only the love of Jesus Christ can save us from brutality to each other. If we all just loved one another, there would be no wars, no horrible evil perpetrated upon each other. I'm glad he made it home, as I'm glad some Russians made it home. It would be interesting to hear if any memoirs of Russian soldiers were written that endured the German camps....

      @oledahammer8393, you bring up a poignant point. The cycle of mistreatment is indeed a tragic aspect of war. Your insight about the transformative power of love is powerful. Exploring memoirs from Russian soldiers in German camps could provide valuable perspectives. Thanks for sharing your thoughtful reflections!

    • @d1427
      @d1427 8 месяцев назад +3

      "If we all just loved one another,..." that is a very tall order. You have to love yourself first and for that, you must know what that self truly is, so that you are not in a position to say 'I just followed orders' but be able to say instead 'I refused to follow orders from some lunatics- I am a free man, not a coward, and I accept whatever the consequence, including death, as God's will not men's, albeit expressed through men.'
      It is not worth living in fear among a herd of hysterical and irrational people, scared out of their wits for their own hide, being ready to trample over any crumbs of conscience one may have left and commit atrocities against fellow humans, regardless of nationality or race, mindlessly swallowing shallow slogans about freedom, patriotism, defending culture or even a god or another. Jesus Christ's teachings show the way- the walk is all yours, and it starts [and ends] with knowing yourself for what you truly are.

    • @WW2Tales
      @WW2Tales  9 месяцев назад

      @heretoforeunknown Sir ,ww2 stories was a different channel ,the channel management left without leaving a public post on community page .There are indeed German graves and monuments in Russia (formerly the Soviet Union) dedicated to those who lost their lives during World War II, particularly on the Eastern Front. Many of these graves and memorials are maintained as a part of war cemeteries. The estimated German death toll on the Eastern Front during World War II is substantial. Millions of German military personnel and civilians lost their lives. The numbers can vary based on different sources, but it's generally agreed that the Eastern Front witnessed some of the deadliest battles and highest casualties during the war.
