I’m a first year teacher, and i will be introducing this shorty story next week to my 8th graders. I read it for the first time last week, and i loved it. I’m nervous to teach with a “long” text. I really hope they enjoy it as much as i do

I have taught theme using this story for multiple years in a row. Classic. My students seemed to enjoy it. I am considering showing the movie version. Thank you. I could listen to your voice all day by the way.

I read this as part of my eighth grade literature class in the 90s. It made such an impression that I still read it every so often.

I was literally half way through adapting this for my students when I saw your video. I’m excited to read it with them!

I loved coming back to this unit while - this year - we happened to be reading Strong as Fire, Fierce as Flame for Global Read Aloud. I think it gave students a lot more context for understanding Monkey's Paw through the lens you discuss (this part of history seems *so* glossed over)

I’mmoving up to eighth grade this fall for ELA, and I’m so excited to use this resource when we teach this short story in our first unit! One of the big things we do in eighth grade in our district is to look at cultural and historical perspectives in what we’re reading, so this will be a phenomenal way to kick that off. Thank you so much! I wish that you had this resource for every story we are reading in this unit.
