Ha ha! My wife and I watched this. I commented to her that this guy was a pretty good rider. Then I noticed who was actually riding. I'm a huge fan and Say no To Slow has improved my off road riding a lot. I'm 74 and own a KTM 390A and recently sold my 690 Enduro r in favor of the new Honda crf300l. Thanks for all you do for the world of motorcycling Chris. When I think of proper form, I think of you.
Why would you go to the crf300l when you have the 390? Is it because of the weight? After seeing this video I was thinking the KTM 390 is the magic unicorn do everything bike. This proves it can be trail ridden!
Great riding on some difficult terrain, KTM 390 ADV Awesome motorcycle, Most people don’t realize how capable this bike is. This is a great Continental Divide Bike, 3 months ago I rode it on the Divide it was awesome. I’m done with heavy motorcycles for off road riding. HAPPY TRAILS from TEXAS
I've wanted this bike for awhile now but now that I've seen that it can actually hold its own pretty well off reading...I want one even more now. The KTM 390 Adventure really seems to me to be a PERFECT bike. I'd have so much fun with one if I could ever possibly afford it (I cannot).
Love this video. Its fair enough that he dig the shit out of the adv 390. Not only on the big adv bikes like the 790. Atleast we know that the adv390 can also do it. Thank u Chris.
Jeezzzzz! Some offroading! And all those laughs and screams! Loved it! Talking about capruting the feeling, great job! Going to buy 390 adv in next spring - my very first bike! Subbed for sure!
I loved almost every minute of owning my 390 adventure. I think I would still have it now if the local dealer was actually good at taking care of the bike! Went over to a T7 for the backup! I notice the weight though!!!
@@KevinDaken I've not heard much about it since I first learned of their goals, but I'd also not heard they stopped the project. Where did you hear about this?
Loved your long way for bush coffee video long back . Would love if you would be able to produce a video in similar lines with the 390 adventure. Peace
Impossible !!! In 1st gear, that thing goes like a tractor! Seeing this was particularly useful to me, considering options. Most media 'reviews' give the impression that cycles can't go over an off-road pebble without meters/yards of suspension travel.
Hey Chris, stop playing with children bike please😂😂, I understand that you have to do it , but KTM also has the new 300 (2 STROKE) super fun bike😉 I think you will enjoy it, going for a bush coffee maybe?? Thanks again for the videos, you are the boss, saludos from Spain💪🏻💪🏻
bro..the 300 got a small tank..the 390 will get you near to 400km..also thousands of k's before oil change. grow up and move on..this bike is not meant for short enduros
it looked like you wheelied this thing like it was nothing. I still have lots to work on! Did you have MTC on or off? does it make a difference in trying to wheelie?
The big worry on this bike is whether one will end up bending the alloy rims. OK, Chris, did ya? Because if you didn't, I doubt I ever will on mine, and it will save me from popping for the spokes. (To be clear, I make the same freaking out a wee bit noises when I ride.)
Thanks for the content, hope to hear your thoughts on the bike after a few rides. I also think many are wanting the 390cc moto put into a DS frame (WR250R/DRZ400) and at the more affordable end of the market. This would be ideal for those wanting more 50/50, lightweight, but aren't ready to invest in a high-spec Enduro bike yet.
Smaller bike means less weight, the rougher the terrain the more that will be an advantage compared to the larger and more powerfull bikes... There's a reason why mx and enduro use lighter bikes with not that much power. An MXGP 450 might have a bit over 65HP, more power than that is useless. In most cases somewhere around 40HP is more than enough to rip.
Mr. Birch, why not also consider the KTM690 Enduro R also? Perhaps for a new rider it's a bit much but definitely more capable than 390ADV. Seems the 690 is the black sheep with no place.
My wife has one and my biggest complaint about it is that the steering hits full lock too soon, and the girth of the wiring harness makes it so that you couldn't turn tighter even if you modified the stops.
I have the same bike minus the Mitas E09s. Don't get those tires here in Nepal. If I did, does it come with CB"s capabilities preloaded? 😀 1:51 I'd check the bash plate. Stock ones aren't too sturdy.

The man could do it on a moped and look good!!!
What didn’t you like about the 690?
That’s what riding is all about laughing in your helmet and having fun with your mates, on whatever bike you have.
Hell yeah! 💯
Thanks Chris, nice to see what this little bike is capable of and it has certainly put this bike into my serious look at bike list.
hey men did you bought it as your first bike ?

1190 heavy coz your picking it up too often
This was awesome! More videos with 390 pls
Thanks for the video Chris! The 1190R gets a bit heavy to pick up for me sometimes, thinking about getting the 390 for a change as a second bike.
I was thinking the same, got SV 650 for a first bike, bought 390 as a second, now SV is a second ;)
With the now available wire wheel and suspension mods available I think the 390 would outperform most adv bikes. -14 1190

Good and inspiring to see this ...as I own an even smaller 250cc (but equally potent) KTM Adv 250...
Cool video as expected from Chris. Personally I'm waiting for the 490 adventure because I think it'll more capable on the road to the trails.
@@KevinDaken 😢
“It’s the rider, not the bike”... one more time, this bike is more capable and very fun to drive, but far from perfect. Thanks Chris!
Nice to see it can go where a dual sport goes. It would be nice to be on the 390 for that long pavement ride to home.

Below an 890 Adv R, I'd wait for a 490 twin.

Any advice on adjusting the suspension settings for the 390?

Love my 790 R but I can't wait to see KTM making the 390 R 🙏🙏🙏 as always it looks easy looking out how you handle this bike 💪
Did you change the footpegs or put any risers on it?😅
No, its really for my wife to ride so no changes to it. Some different footpegs would be nice.
