I saw her in the late 90s. Great show. Then I saw her at the NAC in Ottawa in June 2023. She sounds the same!!!!. When she sang this song I had forgotten it.. ..one of the best artists I've ever seen..
One of my absolute favorite artist, from the first time I heard Birmingham in 1996. It's an absolutely tragedy the United States never caught on to her, and that her career had to put on hold for so long.
First album sold 6 million copies, 1 million in Canada and like 5m in the US. She was well on her way. But the music industry completely screwed it up. Had the best pure blues singer since Janis Joplin and they tried to turn her into some sort of pop diva (because $$$$) by shoving overproduced pop pap down her throat. Thankfully she's finally back and still has the voice!
I heard this song briefly around time it launched, probably on a radio station but that line "omg i woke up with a snake tatoo" always stuck with me and I would sometimes quote or sing it. today out of the blue i decide to search and listen to the full song and cant beleive how awesome it is. one of those instant classics from that golden era of 00s. gonna go listen to all her songs on apple music.
Awwwwww My childhood. I remember hearing this song being overplayed everywhere whether it was the radio, mall, walking dow the grocery stores isles, call-on-hold music, etc. I don't have a particular liking for this song but it reminds me of my childhood ... Th only thing I understood was "Oh my god" and the rest sounded like blah blah blah
This was my late teens and early twenties anthem and now it's coming back around for my late 40s! Thanks for a banger that is always appropriate Ms Marshall!
an artist with great talent and stage presence. Amanda was on her way to becoming a superstar. I can guess what happened, powerful music executives blocked her from reaching her true potential. Can you just image Amanda in the same category as Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Pink.? Amanda can run circles around them.
Lawsuits happened. She fired her manager and record label essentially over conflicting visions of the artist they wanted her to be vs the artist she wanted to be. That didn’t get settled until 2014.
She put out one amazing album (sold 6 million copies, 1m in Canada alone, and even that isn't close to showcasing her voice properly) and two terrible albums that sold 300k and 100k. Wasn't her fault though, was the music industry's fault. They had the best blues singer since Janice Joplin and tried to turn her into a pop diva with overproduced pap (like this). Very sad really. Tragic even. But she's back! @@tinagiordanella3212
I first saw her at Molson Park in Barrie as part of the Great Canadian Party for Canada Day in 1992. I remember getting a real Janis Joplin vibe from her performance.
Bingo: she's the best female blues singer since Janis Joplin and the music industry completely screwed her up by shoving over produced pop pap down her throat. But at least she's back now, finally!
I saw her perform in Montreal a couple of nights ago and she performed this song as her encore…she brought the house down! She sounds even better in person!
i just put her 1995 album in the cd player in my 2003 F250. i enjoy many songs quite a lot. my sister bought the album for me prolly back in 1995. I had to quit drinking Tequila one time...
i wanna tell you something else. i have never seen her before except for the cover art/photography on her oct 17th 1995 album. i was wondering what happened to her. did she have a career? or one hit wonder? or what? She is/was VERY GOOD! it made me kind of sad to think she just faded away... i live in a cave though. sometimes. not on the boob tube anymoar and over the years i was away from it also. Truck Driver.
what is this? i like the song but it could be garbage. who wrote this. cia propaganda type music. hmmm. we are all waking up aren't we? i hope Amanda is happy and doing well.
Oh my God! - I had such a big crush on you Oh my God! - And I think that I still do Oh my God! - Oh my God! It is 20 years later And baby, I still love you.
Not based on a very good first album and two terrible follow-ups she wouldn't have. Music industry completely screwed her up by trying to turn her into a pop diva by shoving overproduced pap down her throat. However, if she had just sung with a piano, bass and drums then she would have been a superstar. Best pure blues singer since Janis Joplin.
This comes on at work a lot, which drives my best friend nuts. I purposely sing it to her, even when it's not on the radio, because I know she hates it. 😂
Just learned that she's returned to recording and touring. Thank God! But this kind of crap was precisely the problem: while "oh my God, I woke-up with a snake tattoo. Oh my God, and I think that my tongue's pierced too" is pretty funny (I remember seeing the video when it came out back in the day), you have perhaps the greatest blues singer since Janis Joplin, and what does the music industry do with it? Forces overproduced pap down her throat. Let's hope you stick to your roots this time Amanda, because you have the best set of pipes in decades!
The lyrics remind me of being young and having mornings like that after a fun night, it is starting to worry me that soon mornings like that will just be a sign of alzheimer's.
I love her music. But, some of those facial expressions like with this thumbnail, are off-putting and should be avoided. BELIEVE IN YOU is a great song.
Cute. Give the cat some chickens to eat and the arf arf some beef. Fried, don't let the dog go wild. And some tequila in the plate, instead of water. Give it a try.

I'm a senior and I still LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this song and Amanda Marshall!!!!

She's STILL so beautiful, and that voice!!❤️
I've been in-like with Amanda Marshall for what seems like forever. Such a talent.
This girl's got an awesome set of pipes!
I haven’t heard this song in forever but my Father just saw her in concert and reminded me of it so I had to listen!
She has such a big absolutely stunning voice! I have loved her voice and music for a very long time.
I'm soooooo in love with this song from my Canadian icon Amanda Marshall 👍👍🎧❤❤

I F#%@in' LOVE this woman! But, then again... who doesn't?

Gurl, I feel this in my soul right now...

She was HUGE in the 90s! She put out 3 amazing albums and then all of a sudden, it was crickets! I hope she's still making music.

Probably unwilling to sell her soul
I've love Amanda, but I had never heard this song before. I made me laugh out loud. Great song with a great story; brings back some memories indeed.
Love it!......always have.
I remember yelling "Hey DJ, jack the volume I love this song"!!
I remember hearing this when I was a kid. I had no idea what it was about.
I first saw her at Molson Park in Barrie as part of the Great Canadian Party for Canada Day in 1992. I remember getting a real Janis Joplin vibe from her performance.
I saw her at Ft. Erie for Canada Day 1996, in the pouring rain while she sang Let it Rain, and I Can't Stand the Rain!
Bingo: she's the best female blues singer since Janis Joplin and the music industry completely screwed her up by shoving over produced pop pap down her throat. But at least she's back now, finally!
me hoping uploading this now is indication of a new album coming, missed this girl so much
ME TOO!!!!
Oh, I hope so! She's been MIA far too long.
Amanda Rocks...forever!!!🐥
I saw her perform in Montreal a couple of nights ago and she performed this song as her encore…she brought the house down!
She sounds even better in person!

what is this? i like the song but it could be garbage. who wrote this. cia propaganda type music. hmmm. we are all waking up aren't we? i hope Amanda is happy and doing well.
Oh my God! - I had such a big crush on you
Oh my God! - And I think that I still do
Oh my God! - Oh my God!
It is 20 years later
And baby, I still love you.
Pride Weekend with my BFFs!!! GGGGGGGUUUURRRLLLL!!!
Clean Canadian rock, apparently underappreciated here in the US. Else, she would have long ago been inducted into the Rock & Hall of Fame.

Hard to believe Marshall hast released a album since 2001
This comes on at work a lot, which drives my best friend nuts. I purposely sing it to her, even when it's not on the radio, because I know she hates it. 😂
I woke up many times this way!
I never heard this song in 20 years.
On the Canadian ITunes, not sure if it's on the American one
Best-Top
When you work night shifts or have two jobs. Who cares if it's 1:30pm in the afternoon?! 😂lol
OMG
Who else is wakin' up with a 2022 snake tattoo?
she played at Caesars Windsor a couple of years ago...
💜💚💙
This reminds me of Netscape and message forums
She had a vacuum cleaner that she had rental
Someone was born in the '90s. 🤣
I working the night shift at stephson rental and a lady with long blonde 👱♀️...her license plate says...dark horse 🐎...think it was Amanda Marshall
Toronto Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
She's retired, due to legal troubles, apparently. Sad, she was good.
she's performing this summer
Steve Berberovic ya I'm seeing her this summer
I think she had some troubles with her record company (not 100% sure) but she still seems to pop her head up every now and then for performances.
渡辺さん?

This song was cool before Katy Perry's Last Friday Night
The lyrics remind me of being young and having mornings like that after a fun night, it is starting to worry me that soon mornings like that will just be a sign of alzheimer's.

TGIF....punk rock version...
I love her music. But, some of those facial expressions like with this thumbnail, are off-putting and should be avoided. BELIEVE IN YOU is a great song.
Who the hell am I? I'm the guy who asked you to marry me.

Omg I woke up as a bisexual
