This is great, I bought a Raspberry Pi 3 a few weeks ago, I've been having problems following tutorials as they all seem to assume that everyone is an expert, I found your video perfect for me as a beginner, I'm going to watch all of them. Fantastic work!
i have learned more about linux from your videos so far than I have ever been able to learn....you are definitely an amazing person and I definitely recognize your worth
Great Video! I have begun my journey with the raspberry pi 3 after finishing all of your new videos on the Arduino kit. Love how you really start at the basics, and implement practice without going to fast. Keep it up Paul!
Great basics tutorial Mr. Mcwhorter. I'm going to go through all your tutorials, why not lol. I can't wait to get deep in this. Thank you sir. You're a great teacher!
Thank you Mr. McWorther I learnt a lot in this lesson such as the mkdir and rmdir, and of course the nano and cat commands, and I also learnt a lot about cats and dogs haha.
hello ms. Paul ... im mohammad from Saudi Arabia ... im happy to be on of your students . thanks a lot for Raspberry Pi & arduino and everything your doing .. your a good men ... love you mr. paul
I got my Raspberry Pi 3 the other day. I used to be very intimidated be the terminal. Now I can't stop having to much fun following along with your great videos!!! P.S. I also like dogs a lot better than cats. :D
You are spot on with your comments about faithful dogs and deceitful cats. I also like the fact that you keep your mis-typing in the video (great learning tool - as every student shouts at the screen). What about a REAL challenge for the next video series 'Cat Whispering'?
Funny you should bring up cats. Something has been bothering my chickens at night, so I put out a live trap. I go out this morning and what do I find in my live trap? A house cat. So the mystery was solved, it was the neighborhood cat that has been disrupting the domestic tranquility of my chickens. Hence, I prepared to dispatch the cat, but at the last moment my wife came out and granted to the cat a pardon, so the cat was released instead of being shot. My wife is not a cat lover, but yet somehow she came under the influence of the cat, and hence I was not allowed to properly dispatch the cat.
Today I pleased to learn what will happen after I die. I find it easier to remember the Linux commands if I understand what they are abbreviations of. Some are obvious, but others not so obvious. For example: ls - list pwd - path of working directory cd - change directory mkdir-make directory rmdir-remove directory cp-copy mv-move nano-???? doesn't mean anything, except that it is a replacement for pico another small text editor cat-conCATenate and print file sudo-SuperUserDo etc...
Great Explanation Sir....just that its over explained. This is not a college lecture so we can just rewind and pay back if we missed anything. Overall great tutorial but I had to skip most of it to complete it
The " Raphael Kit for Raspberry Pi " came in to day , jammed packed full of goodies. Q: In your lesson 1 for the Pi . In location :On the Panel/Menu Bar click The pi icon - Preferences - Theme and And Appearance .In the window labeled "Customize Look and Feel ". There is no Tab labeled [ Window Border ]. Can you advise .
I am on the Buster operating system. You probably flashed to a newer version after I made the video. Download and flash the Buster operating system and you will have exactly what I have.
Paul, awesome video's...Question: When you saved "my_dogs.txt", could you have saved it as "my_dogs.py" to run it as a script from the saved file..Thanks much!
ok question...I went through all the steps with you...Step by Step and downloaded raspian but it did not take me to the config page. How do I get there? sudo config?
Hello Mr. Paul. I am student of masters in bio-medical engineering. My project is to send the data (wireless via wlan) that i receive from the sensors of a patient simulator to the PC. i have like 4 different kinds of sensors. I am new to raspberry pi systems. Currently am using raspberry pi 3 for my project. I have to initially test with some data if i can transfer the information wireless to my laptop. It would be of great help if you could help me with some information regarding my project.
FYI, when I was young, I attended Travis Jr. High, now called Travis Middle School in Temple, TX. I also was a newspaper carrier on So. 19th. For a few days, there was this terrible smell in the 1300 block of So. 19th. Then someone discovered what it was! The lady had died in her back yard, and her dogs were eating her! So much for the domestication theory.... Put dogs on the street with other dogs and they will revert back to their wolf-pack mentality. Gotta love pets! Oh and I have 4 cats! I hope I don't die tonight. LOL Dogs bark, don't bathe, and can't be litter box trained! I don't like dogs...LOL
She made those dogs promise to eat her to stay alive if they were trapped with her until someone found them. MADE THEM PROMISE! Don't you feel bad now, lol.
what you have against cats?my father's cat died less than a week after he died...surely would never eat his arm....but even...would have been nature, just good use of resourses--lol....nice lessons...better with less of the booom....greetings from italy...ciao

I was needing to write code for a sensor from my pi as a complete beginner... Your video is a godsend - thank you!
Amazing classes so much more useful then everything else I've found yet. Thank you!
I'm an absolute beginner, your videos are very helpful
Hi Paul, I have my Raspberry Pi 4 and follow your tutorial from The Netherlands and verry happy whit this tutorial. Thanks Paul
I just got a pi4 so I could learn Linux. I'll need to watch this whole series now.
Same here
I broke my Pi so I bought a $25 240G SSD to use with Linux, lol.
you are the best.....very good lesson and excellent teacher......
Thanks. I’m new to Linux and RPi. I learned a lot from you. Great presentation. Thank you. Great job

I enjoyed your cat / dog rant. Excited for vid 5!
Pretty nice and cool guides to get up and move on..

Another option is to place a GPS tracker on the cat (not the wife (they HATE that!)) - some of their wanderings can be quite surprising!
Excellent video, thanks a lot. Great teacher!! :)

THANK YOU!! I was really trying to understand where it comes from in order to remember it!!
Good lesson, I learned about cats too! :). I've never been a cat person either, now I think I know what vibe I was getting... Lol
Still very useful. Thank you!
wonderful video!! very informative! greatly appreciated
Just Fantastic a whole new World
Great Explanation Sir....just that its over explained. This is not a college lecture so we can just rewind and pay back if we missed anything. Overall great tutorial but I had to skip most of it to complete it
you are great I wish I would have seen your tutorials before...I corrupted at least 4 times my micros lol
You know I love your lecture, and I'm learning so fast thank to you. But can't agree on your thoughtanout cat

Paul, awesome video's...Question: When you saved "my_dogs.txt", could you have saved it as "my_dogs.py" to run it as a script from the saved file..Thanks much!
You are fantastic. I would hope you're a professor of some sort. You have great skills for a professor I can tell you that much
Hey, I learned something new about cats today, lol
So, not a cat person then Paul? :-)
Thanks for the tutorials, great intro to linux on raspi
Aside from the great tutorial, what you're saying is.. Cats are smarter than dogs and would survive longer because of their disloyal ingenuity :)
Super helpful!
little sweet is a sweet name. I'm naming something that ASAP!
hi, how to copy data from files (which converted to txt format from excel file) into nano? any advice...thanks
your cat vs dog story was great :D ... but alas!!! we have to use that cat command to open a file though :/ :P
It would be helpful to learn how to open the games. I am trying to learn how to open a CNC program called bCNC. Thanks
ok question...I went through all the steps with you...Step by Step and downloaded raspian but it did not take me to the config page. How do I get there? sudo config?
wow. so many cat ladies hate you right now Paul, lol, thanks for everything , now have done fusion360, arduino, python, and working raspi,
Great job Sir
thsnk you
when I write the command sudo shutdown, but forgot the rest of "-h now", now it gives no response. what should I do to restart my raspberry pi

Thanks! Hope my cat doesn't eat my arm when i'm sleeping. If I die it has permission though.
Oh no, another cat lover!
LS = "List System"
20:21 you wrote /py/ instead of /pi/
But how to copy and paste, just like in windows?
First, you have to physically go in to the GUI desktop on the raspberry pi and go to the file manager there😊

My channel is tailored towards an audience who enjoys people who yell 'boom', and hate cats. Those things, my friend, are not going to change
Dude, use the tab key for auto-completion in the terminal.
cd ~
ls my[Tab]
If i die then my cat is free to munch on my body until someone comes and recues them
Engagement
Very informative! Get that cough checked out please.
9:32 thank me later.
Oh now I know difference between dog and cat as pet because I haven't pets till the date............
I hate cats too
So... you don't like cats.
Do a web search on "Dog Eats Paralyzed Man’s Testicle As He Sleeps".
Sleep well.
Thank you so much.
