John Buscema.....The Master of Superhero and Human Anatomy. Nobody draws Captain America or Silver Surfer better than John Buscema. R.I.P. John Buscema......You were one of the best!
The face and legs are a dead giveaway on a Buscema hero. I can't see his stuff without thinking of "How to Draw Comics the marvel Way." That was my comic art guidebook when I was young. He was a legend. Never seen Bill's process before, but it's what you'd imagine: Impressionistic, bouncing around from spot to spot. A dash of this, a splash of that. 100 percent unique. These videos are absolutely priceless. Love all three of them.
Love the way he starts out drawing Captain America with his hand at the back of the pencil for the loose sketch then tightens up on the pencil for the detail work. Awesome technique!
All of these are amazing, but as a fan of abstract art, I really like Bill Sienkiewicz's approach and vision. Simple, yet, complex...totally controlled chaos. Nice!
John is and always will be my first mentor in comic book art. Rip buddy. And I love the brush work on Elektra's hair, Sienkiwicz. Never would've thought of that trick and it's so simple. And using the whiteout to highlight the hair and other features, brilliant!
One of my favorite artists. I loved his Avengers run, his art helped make The Avengers my all time favorite comic book. I did not know he had passed away. His talent will be missed.
I love watching all their unique styles.. How Bill likes less lines on the page faster, but Joe goes with a linier sketch style *oooh!* this is just dreamy :D
Sienkiewicz's Elektra may be my least favorite of this bunch but his way of working is definitely an interesting one. 90% percent of the time his style is very loose, then all of a sudden he seems to be very cautious as to what to do. In addition, it took me probably dozen times to watch this video before I noticed he was sitting on the floor which in itself gives this a somewhat cozy "off-duty" feel. I like it.
Two masters! I got How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way when I was about ten so I basically learned to draw comics from John Buscema, and I love Bill Sienciewicz. He always blows me away with his creativity.
It has now been a decade and some change since I first watched this video and I still don't know anything about the guy that drew Elektra and I still find his drawing style mesmerisingly strange. He just places random dots and lines here and there. Nothing looks deliberate. Nothing looks like he planned it ahead of time. It both drives me crazy and fascinates me.
R.I.P. John...Your art on Avengers and Conan were the best...and your book "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" is still my best resource...to the best!
Poor 'ole John was wheezing terribly during this. Heavy labored breathing. Sounds like he had emphysema. No matter. I'll always consider him the GREATEST Marvel comic book artist of all time.
John Buscema truly was the master of comic book anatomy! If only he was still alive to enjoy his success. R.I.P. John Buscema, say hi to Michael Turner while your up there.
That's how u sketch, hold the pencil as if it was a brush, then U are not just using your wrist for movement of the pencil, but your whole arm and shoulder, plus U can cover more ground that way....A true master!
John Romita Sr and John Buscema RIP (along with Neal Adams and 'the 'King' Jack Kirby) were my heroes back in the 70s; great to see these two masters of their chosen profession at work.
My Favorite of John's art is also his favorite...Conan the Barbarian.. There has never been a Comic Artist who excels in every aspect of Comics other than Writing, Lettering and Editing.. (He plotted too.)
i think both are very well done to the viewers who think the second one is bullshiet, well think of it this way: both of them have different style of drawings. the second one actually amazes me more because i never seen sumthing like that and i would have never thought of drawing/inking like that, which is really cool
When it came to drawing the Hulk, "Big" John Buscema was the one who made the Hulk look like the monster he is until John Byrne came along. "Big" John, R.I.P.!
I am not stating that the artists of yesterday aren't quality artists. They were indeed artists first and foremost and understood a lot of what Mr. Liefeld doesn't. I have great respect for Kirby, Buscema, etc. But to look at some of what is being done today, the art at times can be breathtaking and really showcases things that were simply not back in the day. Plus the panel work being done these days is dynamic, and simply awesome.
Panel work Kirby & Eisner were the gold standard ! then Steranko ,Gil Kane,Gene Colan, George Perez and the Buscema's all take them anytime. They were all great storytellers.
no one is born drawing. let alone drawing comics. it is a skill and craft that one has to work at and cultivate. i guess that seems like magic to kids these days. but yeah, he had to spend time to get good.
@@skyjuiceification more if u creative to draw your own character . Not everyone has , if true everyone be doing it...everyone be a artist , u gotta have it in you
john buscema was the greatest ever RIP john..if there ever is a hall of fame for comic artist he needs to be in it...how to draw comics the marvel way by john buscema and stan lee beast ever i'll never forget that.
it's most likely a sable brush - all of the old school comic artists swear by them, made from the hair of a sable horse from a specific seasonal coat. Pricey (125-150 US dollars) but if you take care of them, they're worth every penny.
I can't see which brush is it,but most professionals use the Winsor-Newton series 7 finest sable. You may want to try it.Personally, I highly recommend it.
SO humbling how I spend all this time trying out different pencils to draw my rough sketches with - and John turns out this great drawing of Captain America that he initially sketches with an old regular yellow number two pencil with the eraser worn completely off! If you're a comic artist who doesn't find this inspirational, we can't be friends 😊 By the way Bat Mitey, the first artist drawing is John Buscema not John Romita as you say in your description. You might want to correct it 😊
@vidguy Thats a load of bunk. Taking the time to draw a stick figure and build off it is NOT the lazy way, unless you get off on some weird machismo of drawing completely freehand. Drawing a stickfigure is the best way to plot out a figure because you do it solely through gestures and instinct rather than detail. Unless you've got years of GOOD drawings to your name you'll still need the stick figure to get something good.
both. its a marker with the point-marker soft like a pencil (almost but not soo soft) but the ink is inside like a marker.. mean while, marker and inking, .. is markinking :P
Kudos to Bill Sienkiewicz here as well - I think I would have blacked in that one side of Elektra's face and immediately decided that the picture was lost and that I had failed. But he presses on and makes it work. Fearless.
yes....this is great,it was in a french documentary on superheroes...DVD,which they sold in england....it was called "spider-man and the superheroes"or something like that....i'll have to check the title...brian
watching these amazing videos is half inspiring and half makes me want to gnaw my fingers off in jealousy and resentment. sad. but thanks for posting these videos in all seriousness
it's crazy to think that on bill's drawing the right side of his box outline goes inwards and then back outwards, because he was moving his arm to avoid the brush on the page. thats just a weird improve freedom i could never have in my work.
John Buscema.....The Master of Superhero and Human Anatomy. Nobody draws Captain America or Silver Surfer better than John Buscema.

BIG JOHN BUSCEMA...one of the true LEGENDS of MARVEL!!!
john was a master artist, simply put. he drew iron fist quite beautifully as i recall. legendary artists. we miss you. RIP!!!
John Buscema... one of my all time favorite artists.. R.I.P.
Buscema is an out-and-out genius. Talent + knowledge + practice = skill.
All of these are amazing, but as a fan of abstract art, I really like Bill Sienkiewicz's approach and vision. Simple, yet, complex...totally controlled chaos. Nice!

Comics aren't the same anymore without John Busema! I have thousands of comics that he drew. I'm a die hard fan of his amazing artwork.
Ahh, Black India Ink with an ink brush. Go John!
I love watching all their unique styles.. How Bill likes less lines on the page faster, but Joe goes with a linier sketch style *oooh!* this is just dreamy :D
John Buscema.....MASTER OF COMIC BOOK HERO ANATOMY!
He is still the master.....even though he is gone.
R.I.P. John Buscema.
You are sorely missed!
Sienkiewicz's Elektra may be my least favorite of this bunch but his way of working is definitely an interesting one. 90% percent of the time his style is very loose, then all of a sudden he seems to be very cautious as to what to do. It both drives me crazy and fascinates me.
His name is Bill Sinkezwich (Don’t know how to spell his last name!) .
If you want to know more about him, he drew on New Mutants for a while.
This is just perfect, I could sit and watch this for hours.
Dood i love john buscema's art, i especially like his inking style
Astounding! The man who got me into Marvel in the first place, along with his brother Sal. Fantastic artist - the best of them all.
That's how I prefer Captain America. When I grew up that's the only way you'd find him. Thank you for doing this picture.
I enjoy watching you draw. Sometimes just watching someone draw is what I need.
sienkiewicz is so awesome. He´s like: "fuck this shit, I´m just gonna scratch a few lines here and see how it goes" The result is a masterpiece.
Oh, e Romita Senior is great too. Think in Spider-Man is think in this guy.
Magic, absolutey magic.............love the way his hand glides across the page as he effortlessly applys his inks!
BRAVO!
John Buscema truly was the master of comic book anatomy!
If only he was still alive to enjoy his success.
R.I.P. John Buscema, say hi to Michael Turner while your up there.
He makes it look so easy. He drew what is still my favorite Spider Man comic "Endings" which was the prelude to Secret Wars. R.I.P
its so relaxing watching other artists draw
Watching the MASTER at work is an absolute DELIGHT!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this!!
That's how u sketch, hold the pencil as if it was a brush, then U are not just using your wrist for movement of the pencil, but your whole arm and shoulder, plus U can cover more ground that way....A true master!

Amazing artist, that Bill S. Loved his Moon Knight! My favorite his drawing of the Werewolf by Night '82.
I could listen to that sound when going to bed. And have the best dreams ever.
Watching Sienkiewicz draw freestyle is like watching Mozart conduct.
Bill Sienkiewicz was my idol growing up in the mid-to-late 80's and early 90's. My favorite comic book artist ever, along with Jack Kirby.
Wow, Big John B. in action. Priceless! Sad he didn't ink more of his own pencils...
I still love they way all this sounds
Is just so pleasing to see his drawings. Idk why.
My Favorite of John's art is also his favorite...Conan the Barbarian.. There has never been a Comic Artist who excels in every aspect of Comics other than Writing, Lettering and Editing.. (He plotted too.)

dude these are amazing pieces.
When it came to drawing the Hulk, "Big" John Buscema was the one who made the Hulk look like the monster he is until John Byrne came along.
"Big" John, R.I.P.!
Huge fan of him and his brother Sal's art work on the Avengers and the Septacular Spider-Man! Nobody draws like that anymore!
Jesus, what a gifted artist is style is unique
wow john buscemas brush inking is impecable!
R.I.P John Buscema
That captain america drawing ooooooh yeeeeeeh!!!
The second guy? Bill Seienkiewicz. And that's called pure mastery and genius!
I was just staring at his awesome sideburns.... they are frikin greyyy :DDD
Wow. Go Bill Go! I like the 'messiness', it gives it energy.
They make it look so easy.
Wow. John Buscema is amazing.
Que maravilla de artista John Bucema un grande del comic.
Sienkiewicz is fearless. Wow.
it's interesting to see all their different styles
I was lucky to add this very Buscema sketch to my original art collection 👍
Bill got some really awesome skills....
I am not stating that the artists of yesterday aren't quality artists. They were indeed artists first and foremost and understood a lot of what Mr. Liefeld doesn't.

is this something you can learn? or is it something you are just born with...what a vision. this is awesome!

ES RELAJANTE VER A LOS MAESTROS DEL COMIC TRABAJAR
more videos Batmitey, we want see more¡¡ i lke it so much
Me gusta su estilo de dibujar y su técnica de dibujar y el entintado ,que le da al Capitan América.
John Buscema is THEEE shit! his work kills me every time.
How to draw comics the Marvel way is still the best way to learn. Written bye Stan Lee and John Busema!
Wow, it's amazing how easily they seem to do this - heck, I have trouble drawing a straight line...
Very cool seeing Bill
The Elektra drawing blew me away.
I really wish Bill Sienkiewicz would bring out an instructional DVD.
art at it's highest level (my opinion)
sal buscema is a comic book drawer...
but bill s. is a true artist...
love both of their works very much
John Buscema is using a top secret breathing technique.
Amazing, Rob Liefeld should learn how to draw foots with these guys... and hands, and proportion...
It looks like a Nr 2 or 3, perhaps a Kolinsky because it's sharper than any other brush.
FLAWLESS!!!
I can't see which brush is it,but most professionals use the Winsor-Newton series 7 finest sable. You may want to try it.Personally, I highly recommend it.

impresionante, disculpe, cual es la tinta que utiliza para darle las sombras "Shadows" gracias.
A true master! For real!
John sei un grande artista! Un giorno spero che il Tantillo diventi come te!

both.

@schakalakadingdong i think its actually a brush they just cut the parts where he dips, its probably a raphael #2 brush
You have a great camera. Most drawing videos i see never pick up the pencil markings. Good drawing too.
John FUCKING Buscema! A wonderful talented comic book artist!😉
What The Super....Heroes! Very good stuff....
My 3rd favorite marvel artist
..HOLY CRAP!..are these not the BEST VIDEOS EVER??
Your the best! I like what you used to darken the lines on Captin America. I'm going to post a vid on my drawings soon
8:36 HOLY SHIT. It looked like he was just scribbling garbage at first. Was not expecting that.
That is bad-ass! I wish I could draw like that!!
Kudos to Bill Sienkiewicz here as well - I think I would have blacked in that one side of Elektra's face and immediately decided that the picture was lost and that I had failed. But he presses on and makes it work. Fearless.

Go to wiki and look up: pencilers or comic pencilers. You can also search artist by names and you will get the type of pencils they use, etc.
it's crazy to think that on bill's drawing the right side of his box outline goes inwards and then back outwards, because he was moving his arm to avoid the brush on the page. thats just a weird improve freedom i could never have in my work.
did he just use whiteout to help create hair? that's genious
