Having listened to these guys back in the 90s going to college and working at a hardware store, and now still processing grief from a painful divorce, reading anything on grief, this song popped up on my feed. Love how God has me listening to a bunch of songs to distract me until I get to this one. The line about both of us not grieving our own past and how that affected the relationship is IT!! Such a gem in the rough.
One of the most talented bands overall...everyone pulls their weight and then some. These sessions sounds almost exactly like the album versions; I didn't think it could be done so well live
Love the lyrics in this song: "where do all the secrets live? they travel in the air. you can smell them when they burn, they travel. those who say the past is not dead, stop and smell the smoke." let the past go, people! BFF at their best.
I like the lyrical device of bleeding one line into another "here's a secret no one will ever know the reasons for the tears" like the "no one will ever know" finishes one line but starts the next. Is there a bame for that sort of thing?
Jeremiah Collins just as an fyi, it is a break up song, but he generalized the writing since it was for a friend into a larger theme about the past and it’s futility.
@Glenn Fletcher I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not. If you aren't, then you must be stoned or something based on your grammar and spelling.

BFF at their best.
They looks so young! I got this on DVD one Christmas. Seems like forever ago. This song is one of my favorites.
This is probably my favorite BFF song.
How did I never figure out the melodica + piano sound? That and the strummed piano make for a fantastic timbre...
The instrument's Ben is playing is a talkbox.
@@s1ngular1ty6 No man that's a melodica
I finally understand truth.

Beautiful musicianship all around.
Watched this on PBS and this lovely dvd is still in rotation.
I love this song and this performance so much, it's absurd. It cuts to the core of the whole human experience.
top 5 songs of all time for me
Listen to that sledge bassline!
Ben - I’m very happy you made this song and didn’t give up on it before it was complete.
Always loved this song so much. Thank you for posting!
Nothing ever last forever
Can you please upload the entire 2013 Warfield concert?
Another great BFF break up song. So. Many. Breakup songs.
Jeremiah Collins just as an fyi, it is a break up song, but he generalized the writing since it was for a friend into a larger theme about the past and it’s futility.
@@Preston_Hudson this is correct but I still feel it can be applied to so many situations.
@Glenn Fletcher I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not. If you aren't, then you must be stoned or something based on your grammar and spelling.
@Cole Evans Hood this would explain my brother too
Such great talent and music
More sessions at west 45th performances please
After years of youtube blocking its finally up in its entirety (minus extras from the dvd)... woowoo!
Can it get any better?
I just want to point out that this video had 420 likes when I arrived. Mildly interesting.

Is Ben wearing an Alexander Julian shirt? Good times.
I feel like if you love the musicianship of this band, you’ll appreciate Andrew Bird.
