Hey we can actually hear him now during the in car bits. Hallelujah!!
I know right? Shocker 😱. 😂.
Apologies for the lack of cutaway shots. I hope you enjoy the skids 😎
You should consider doing pro/grassroots drift events, car control is on point
Love the way he just gets the back end out that easy
Yobbishness
Piece of cake..slight flick before bend, then lift off the throttle..🧐
Kyle Fpv I bet you couldn’t drift even if someone gave you a rear wheel drive car with a 1000bhp and a frozen icey lake to slide it on
You're the only guy to have this car sideways on RUclips I swear. When are you gonna be on Top Gear? Lol. I rate you bro
Got one myself and love it to bits. I can get 30-35mpg on a run. Even had 43mpg taking it really easy but bought it for the smiles per gallon anyway
"The Golf's hot sister" that sums it up, heck they should use this for their advertising!
Imagine reviewing your ex girlfriends, rating them by, reliability, bed performance, and running costs 👌
Only 150 in the UK?
They will be worth investing in.
Future classic
Definitely 👊🏽
Cool review, i miss the M5 update, though..
Update coming soon
Great review this, enjoyed it.
Couple of little inaccuracies in the commentary, forgive me for being pedantic. Wheelbase is the same as the standard Leon @ 2637mm, it’s just got a slightly longer boot. Re the ABT tune, it’s just the tuning module itself, nothing is done to the exhaust, they are the same from factory - twin GPFs (no resonator) to twin back box with 4 pipes. 0-60 times for the ABT are 4.1-4.4 in real life, but unless you test this you wouldn’t know ;) My best is 4.09. Absolutely love mine !!!
Great review Sid. I think your analysis of who would be in the market to buy one of those is spot on. The focus is not for me, the M5 and merc are too expensive and the golf is a little boring. You put it perfectly 👍
It was given the Sideway stamp of approval towards the end, how nice, only missing the Sideway ratings.
I suppose it gets even better if you do a remap. A place i know here in spain can make it have 385hp and 480nm torque. Thinking of buying one and do just that! Exciting..
This just popped up on my feed. Loving your style. Great to watch. Predicting a good future. Cheers!
Content always makes you and viewer's SMILE 😆👍
Thanks 😎.
Appreciate it 👊🏽
I can't wait to see you with 500k subscribers, mate. On the car, we don't have those in North America, however I can't recommend enough a Golf R with a kit of anti sway bars, a downpipe, and a proper tune. It completely transforms the car for the money.
Serious driving there mate the ease and comfort of you absolutely flatout through the gears hahaha maniac I love it
i am a car nut and know my way around the bends, such a pleasure to see a very high
quality review from a guy who is fanatic about cars and is comfortable of testing out weight distribution over chassis tension and grip departure rate under undulation and other street conditions. You are the best autotester this side of Owen Mildenhall, Chris Harris, Steve Sutcliffe and Jethro Bovingdon
For an everyday car that can do it all this takes some beating. Not many of us with kids can afford a £50k car, the Seat is great value, can be a taxi cruiser for the kids and trips to the tip but give you an awful lot of fun when you want go back to being 18 again behind the wheel. More power than you’ll ever really need, and who can go more than 100mph yet alone 150mph+ on UK roads? I quite like to keep my licence but drive something understated that can shock many of the ‘billy big balls’ around.
Anyone else fast forward to the sideways bit 🤔 and then go back to the start 😁👌
Paul Randall 😂😂😂
That's more like it Sidney, you've gotta keep your sideways legend alive. .....
Had the police chased me down in one of them. 😂
Did they catch you? 👀
Sid north Yeah had no chance mate was in a Honda Jazz 😁
Dantheman t w at xD
Glad you’ve gone back to your old ways and sliding the car about a bit 😉 good fun content to watch
I’ll genuinely drive down and let you review my cupra Ateca just to see if you can slide it because I can’t 😂
Mine did it. The recipe - you just need an icy twisted road, summer tires and heavy right foot 🎿. It was just for few seconds but woke me up
The Cupra always been my favourite and funnest mqb hot hatch, vag groups little secret.
👊🏽👊🏽
Really good intro. I've come to that conclusion about all those cars. Except golf R looks great (estate version not so much)
Loved this video but show us more of the cockpit and drivers perspective please.
Could you try do a review on the Leon fr 184 diesel mate ?
Pukka review from start too finish! In the future would also love some dramatic montages...
I am opening a car wash near you soon!😂
Other than the extra power is there any mechanical differences to a golf r estate?
Suspension top mounts and dampers
so no
2 degree camber from factory, lower springs, brembo brakes.
Its 80 kg lighter
Had the 290 hatch version of one of these for 25k miles in 2016-18. I complained about it being quite dull at the time, but in hindsight it's probably one of the best compromises of a car I've ever owned. Very quick, could actually use its power (unlike the Focus ST we currently have on the drive) and it could do 40mpg on a run (unlike the Civic Type R we also have on the drive which struggles for 30). It suprises me that you struggle to get 30mpg on the new one, does the AWD add that much weight?
Mega review mate!
Great work glad it's not another RS6 video
Yes yes sideways sid
👀😎
Pieces to camera are getting so strong Sid, more vids tho!!!!!!!
Another top vid Sid. I have the 2017 Cupra estate. Would you recommend I went and got 2 degrees negative camber front and back ? I think it was just ABT cars that have it. Cheers
Always prefered the cupra to the golf
i would go for a focus st estate love them
It is the old model, new one will be launched soon
I know
@@SidNorth hope you do the new model also
I’d still go for a M340i Touring over this.
Interesting.
I might have to have a go in one.
Yeah was literally about to comment this... Might be expensive rn but just wait and let depreciation do its thing.
Think I'd go for an RS6 over this.
New M340i touring is 50k - Cupra R ST ex demo 20k less, that's enough to pick up a Cayman for the weekends too! If you want a new, fast estate at around 50k then the C43 is the way to go, although the M340i is a solid car!
@Adam I'm talking "new" M340i touring. Agree on the B58, but the C43 puts out more power as standard, 4WD again and can also be well tuned.
Just looked at the specs... seems to me that the ST has the same wheelbase as the non ST version, am I wrong?
couple of days ago i was on a fundrive and a guy with an Audi a6 50tdi wanted to have a go.
i had absolutely zero chances as that audi was so frickin' fast. we were almost 220km/h and i was still not catching up. maybe theres something wrong with my cupra?
Is yours a 280/290 or an R ST as above? That A6 is still a 290PS V6 Diesel with punchy torque and quattro.
A lighter FWD cupra 290 should theoretically beat it on a roll however.
But whos to say the guy didnt have it mapped for an extra 60+ ps or more?
@@JP_RS6 mine is exactly as the one in the video - st 300 4drive - no mods
Tbh i was completely shocked, as the audi was teasing me and fullforce cupra mode wouldnt do anything 😅
@@papagalnebun pretty close in figures but man that A6 will be chunky weight compared to yours. Must have had something done to it lol.
I got the 290 FWD, but I got a Golf R ECU Map apparently so its doing about 305ps.
Want to ST though, I want me some haldex AWD lol.
@@JP_RS6 Nice car you’ve got
Maybe its also the fac that the a6 has an electric motor aswell? Going quite fast from low speeds but still, at 200+ was going strong no chance for me to reach it.
Although ABT is not voiding the warranty, here in Germany the company is known for their bad mapping quality and almost never reacheing the power numbers advertised. Bummer. :(
Never heard that before but it's good to know, thanks.
The ABT tuning boxes don’t dyno well as they are very sensitive to heat build up on the intake, charge air and oil and ramp down power aggressively. They do better in real life with real airflow. The 2 best results on Dragy leaderboard for Seat this month (Feb ‘20) 0-60mph are 2 R ST ABT’s, 4.09 and 4.10 respectively. One of those is mine ;).
Standing 1/4 mile time of 12.38s.
Id say the ABT tune is doing what it says on the tin......
I have a racingline tuned one stage 1 375bhp/516 NM. (magnetic grey). Not many a match on the road
sid have you ever drove a megane rs 250 or other versions? what is your opinion if you have?
Skids 😍
Sid. Firstly that's the ST R ABT Model wich is limited. They have a normal 300ST 4 drive. Secondly, not all the ABT R have the tune. That's the £500 option. The ABT is styling pack. So a "stock" R ABT is 300bhp. Same as the normal Cupra ST300.
I think you're wrong
@@hughfitz95 I'm not. The ABT Model comes stock 300 bhp and you have to pay £500 to have the tuning file to be put on.
The ABT part is the tune not the styling pack. All of the R’s come with the same styling but not all of them come with the ABT tune.
Now I don't understand why VW always does this. Not offer the haldex AWD system for the Octavia RS TSI!! I bet it would kill the golf R and this cupra r st with a stage 1 remap..
Rahul Pradeep how could it kill it when it’s the same car 🤔
@@THEG12EGI don't think they offer an AWD with the Skoda vRS.Only FWD so it ends up doing 0-60mph in around 6.5s.Plus it's offered in a lower state of tune a 245bhp or a 230bhp version only although it's the same engine.Maybe coz VW wants to position seat and itself a notch above Skoda..
Rahul Pradeep yea I know
@@rahul675Lt go for the Superb 280 if you want a fast AWD Skoda
@@KXP70We don't even have that as an option here in India.Still the superb isn't gonna handle like an octavia for sure..
Send your resume to Top Gear my man. Great reviews!
@Sid North what about amg c43 estate?
Great review, just what I wanted to hear, been looking at one of these for a while! I’m everything you said bar the dog 😂😂😂
How is that so tailhappy and my Octavia vRS totally not?
tzalwelzijn because sids not driving it
One quick question ..Is it AWD or FWD? Yours is an estate or notchback??
FWD estate. Previous car was a Fiesta ST so i know how to do it :)
tzalwelzijn well that’s why then if it fwd!
"the Golf's hot sister" ...nice
Mini clubman JCW? 🤔
Less talking more drifting
RAY NL bore off
Is a golf r estate virtually the same car?
Almost. But this leon comes fully loaded, and and has better setup for fast driving.
Very nice 👌🏾
An interior like a Tesco own-brand TV.
I have prayed to the racing gods for us to see you hustle a new V8 Mustang Down some B roads Sid🤞🥳 just not mine 😂
No one cares about your purchase mate.
Martin Allen thanks mate as long as you don’t care I’m going to have a banging weekend I hope you do to🥳
Did he really say 395 hp?! Damn they're really limiting these cars. I suppose they have to be able to justify the difference between Audi S3 and RS3 somehow.
345 hp not 395
They’re actually running 370bhp
Driven the 'normal' 300 cupra and love it. Much rather have one over the golf R. But still.... Tossers cars now 🤷♂️
Tosser car?
@@Roadwarrior92 you're a tosser
Do you mean flipper?
Ok thanks
Looking for a second car, this or the Civic Type R? Which one does it all more?
I'd say the cupra as it's 4wd with a big boot.
Sorry, should have mentioned my other car is a Golf R Stage 1. Was thinking that the Cupra would be too similar?
Do you have any Auto/manual preference?
Nope either, as long as it's fun and has good boot space for a bike with the seats down, or at least two large suitcases with the seats up, and isn't too expensive.
@@kokekan75 I think the Cupra estate would be a better fit for you then.
I've owned a DSG Cupra 290 FWD Estate and test drove the Civic. The Civic is the best manual car I have ever driven. All the controls are perfect. Brake feel, clutch weight and feel, gear shift, all perfect and made it lovely to drive. Steering was accurate and we'll weighted but like the Cupra, quite devoid of feel.
The problem I had with the Civic was that, while it is amazing in its capabilities, it was a bit boring after coming out of the Cupra. You can carry some silly speeds in both cars but the Cupra engages you more and is really is fun.
I said to the salesman that I'll just flow down the road but won't go too quick. So there I am on a back road, chatting away, keeping speed up but not really pushing and I start taking quite a tight bend, when I look down to realise I was doing 80! It was damp and not very warm out also. I had no idea I was going that fast, the car was super composed and capable. But because of this, also boring.
The Cupra was fun before, at and past the speed limit. I fear you would have to be at big speeds all the time to be excited in the Civic. It was really enjoyable to drive and would make for an amazing daily, but it's just not exciting.
On to the bike question. Unless it was a BMX I think the Cupra would be better suited to taking bikes. The Civic is fairly large but the estate boot is always going to be more useable.
And in regards to price, from what I have seen the Civic would cost more new or used. But I haven't looked too much into current prices.
But why not the golf r estate?!?
Identical car but with a vw badge
FoxyEmGee doesn’t drive as well and who cares about the VW badge? 🤷♂️
Cupra looks good and Golf R doesn't. For over 10 yrs the SEAT Leon Cupra is more fun to drive than a golf
vw isn't a premium brand lol
@@JGreen444 And you don't own a premium brand car. Yes everyone wants a Supercar, but for the money you can not beat the Leon St Cupra
Please show us the road, interior, or anything that gives a better view of the car, but not constantly your face!
bobbins
3:46 and 11:01 👍💥
Its a golf r estate lol
Yes. But it comes fully loaded, and with better setup for fast driving.
You need to try a normal cupra way different
Yeah this is basically a golf R estate but a different body
Another 300 bhp 4wd hatchback, they’re all a bit boring now aren’t they really.
The Fwd Cupra is hilariously fun to drive. I would be reluctant to even consider having 4wd even when I know it would be quicker in some circumstances.
Der labbert viel zu viel hätte lieber ein paar drifts gesehen 😩
Dude, lots of valuable info about the car, but why the heck do we have to look at you for 11 minutes? At least let the camera point at the dials, more outside shots and stuff like that not your face all the time. This could improve your vids a lot. Crazy skill with the drift tho, thumbs up! :D
e
And on that note!! good luck buying one. Completely pointless review . Lots more fun cars to buy it its range weather they be brand new or upto 8 years old . The only persthat will drive one of these is someone that smoked buy dirty diesel
Huh?
"A golf R looks kind of boring" he says in a Seat
