Silver Score - Hunting Eisenhower (Ike) Dollars and Half Dollars!

- So... I have a few tellers that know I like Half Dollars and Ike Dollars (that don't look for silver or collect it obviously) and today I get "the call." I am told that one of my banks just had a customer bring in $70 worth of Eisenhower (IKE) Dollars and $25 worth of half dollars and if I want them they'd hold them for me...
Ummm... YES!
Of course I jumped into the car and headed down there. I purchased the lot and was too eager to get home before I could hunt them so I decided to hunt them in my car in the bank parking lot...
I'm glad I did because we ended up getting a nice score of Silver out of those coins! I hope you enjoy the episode as much as I did finding all that silver!
PS - the guy who brought them in said he had more to bring in so I'll keep you posted if I get another nice score!

Justin if you live in pensicola go to 9 mile road and there should be a wells Fargo and they usually have ikes
The silver Ike dollars were only sold as collector items and weren't in circulation, that's probably why you didn't find any. But there's always a chance one might have slipped in, by someone not in the know. That's part of what makes hunting for silver in rolls so satisfying.

It's amazing how easy it is to identify the 90% coins vs. 40% right off the bat without even checking dates. The color difference is pretty striking. They don't call silver "the white metal" for nothing.

Great score Rob! I love looking through the Ike's. My banks rarely get them, and I've never found a silver one. They're still fun to go through when they pop up.

I love those Ike's, I save them all but also looks for the 1973. Thanks for sharing this video. I also went to my local and asked and the teller gave me $15 worth of 40% Kennedy's. Sweet Benjamin and some silver in the half's.

Like I always say, build relationships with your bank tellers! I once had a bank save 100 Ikes for me. I sold them all as a big lot to someone, and forgot there was a 73 in it. I made a profit, but could've made more if I'd saved the 73. Very nice score!

Dude, come on, hook a brother up with those tellers. Damn, what a score. I love those big heavy Ike’s. I carry a handful in my pocket all day at work, so I can jingle them occasionally, throughout the day. It keeps me pumped for silver.

Found a walker a few weeks back in a tellers change tray. As I looked at her change it was looking right back at me. Told her I wanted to buy her halves & she gladly did so at 50 cents each. Not my first walker, but the first time I’ve ever seen one in a change tray. 1918 P, in G4 condition.
I scored a full roll of silver half dollars at a bank a week ago. 9 forty percent Kennedy. 10 Ben Frankins and one Walker.
Just started collecting Ike dollars and learning more from the videos as I watch.
Always nice to have a good contact Rob. Great finds in the halves for sure. The Ike's are always tough. I have not gone CRH in a long time, but when I was I accumulated almost 400 Ike Dollars. Out of all those coins I found 1 silver 1976 & 3 clad 1973's. I keep the Ike's as well. I shuffle them like poker chips when I get stressed and it brings me right back down...lol. If you got that out of a $500 box, you would be excited. Out of $25 is crazy, plus a bunch of Ike's as some whip cream on top.
Great video. The boxes are a great system, but getting it from tellers cuts out the middleman. A lot of work going Teller to Teller. But if they are bird dogging for you, then it is awesome! I could see the white silver as you dumped rolls in box.

WOW... EPIC SCORE. CONGRATS!!!!!!
That was epic. Honestly Those are the best kinds of scores because very little effort is put into search them. I called like 20 bank so far and only one had Eisenhower dollars they had 6 of them. I called the PNC Bank they said they had some and some half dollars. Also a Wells Fargo said they had about 150 in halves so tommorow im going to pick both of those up. Wish me luck hope I get a silver.

Within seconds I said “what?” when you said “a teller texted me”. Dang you have it like that?. I thought tellers hated us making them work just to hunt coins. I get looks and some minor attitude when I go to the drive thru to turn in my coins. You have it good. Haha
