Baris Manco is the only celebrity that made me cry when I learned his death. he was more than a singer, vocal, musician...whatever. he was a real legend. Rest in Peace Baris abi. 😢
1999 was a very hard year for Turkey. The earthquakes, terror attacks, financial crysis and many more things... It was a very touching song due to reasons like these, people still feel the devastation of these times. It capsulates all these memories. And adding these, the death of Barış Manço & Kemal Sunal is like final blow. Hard times.
I was almost going to write about this. I was 12, so this year took my childhood joy because of earthquake. Hit me in Gölcük, center of disaster. Saw horrible things that a child shouldnt have seen. It took so long to smile again. Before that, Barış Manço and one year later Kemal Sunal´s death. Nobody wants to remember these years in Turkey. Galatasaray´s UEFA Cup success and national team´s semi-final degree eased the wounds a little bit. You know, in Turkey, football can change anything in all way.
Cries follow whenever I hear this song... he is the best of the best... First time I watched his 7-77 show on TV when I was a toddler and was devastated when he died and I was still a kid...
Barış Manço Türk Müziğinin efsanesinidir. Unutulmayacak bir müzük adamıdır. Tepkilerin çok mükemmel kanalını rastgele gördüm. Abone oluyorum. Barış Manço 'yu her dinlediğimde gözlerimiz hep yaşarıyor. Hüzünlenmemek elde değil. Teşekkürler Luke...
People who call reaction videos lazy should see how much effort and research you put into your videos. And in a foreign language, that is. Keep up the good work!
Also I must give thanks and credit to the people who volunteer their time to make Turkish subtitles too. They spend many hours helping us all out and I cannot say thanks enough. ✌️
Luke you should listen to Çelik’s songs, specially; “Benimle Kal”. İts means in English, “Stay with me”. The song has wonderful and emotional words and music. Also you will love Çelik’s voice!
Barış Manço sadece bir sanatçı değildi. O bir filozof tu aynı zaman da. Her şarkısında bir kıssa ve hissesi vardır. Kötü denecek hiç bir şarkısı yoktur. Her dinlediğimiz de, tüylerimiz diken diken, gözlerimiz yaşlı..
My grandfather past away last month because of covid. Before he was hospitalized after he was diagnosed he was comforting himself and telling me that if he dies he would at least be with Barış Manço.. the week after his death my german shepherd also followed him because of kidney failure.. Hoping they are all together now.. This video brought me some memories..
He wasn't just a singer. He had a TV show called "7 to 77". We, children of the 80s grew up with his programs. The program included a special section for children and world tour sections.
In addition: he loved children I couldn’t grow up with Barış Manço but my mum did and she’s always talking about him especially on cultural celebrations. My mum plays up the song “bugün bayram” every special celebration to remember him and to give the love of Barış Manço further
I was in middle school and i remember one night I was listenning to the radio as I often did, the hour was very late but I just could not sleep. It was a sunday night and I had to go to school the next morning. The songs that had been playing on the radio suddenly hit me. They were all Barış Manço songs, one after another, without speech. Nice but quite unusual I thought unknowingly. Then I heard people in my family were up as well, only to find them in front of the TV at that unnatural hour in the middle of the night with the caption on the tv screen "Breaking News... We have lost Barış Manço..." Thank you Luke for bringing tears to these 32 year old eyes once more... It is ALWAYS a great pleasure to see and listen Barış Manço. It doubles the excitement if you're the one reacting to them. How can our chins ever be down when you come to us with these great music reactions. So, I'm the one saying this this time: Chin up, buckle up and keep up the good work mate.
The greatest Turkish singer ever, Turkish son who has successfully represented his country at home and abroad, peace be upon your soul.ruhun şaad olsun barış abi.

Barış once said "7 to 77 is just an old saying in Turkish. My audiences are ranging from 3 months to 120 years, 3 months is when the babies learn to smile".
Selda Bağcan "Öyle bir yerdeyim ki" I recommend, it's a really great song. An old and well-known singer in Turkey and still continues to give concerts with a very wide audience. 😍
3:59 I was 9 years old when Barış Manço died. And I cried too. Because even when I was 9 years old, I knew all the songs of Barış Manço by heart. And when I was a kid, I gave a concert at school with his songs. I hope your place is a paradise, rest in peace Barış Manço. MEKANIN CENNET OLSUN İNŞALLAH BARIŞ MANÇO ❤
I was 5 years old when he died. I remember the news and funeral of death on TV, the whole family was watching. I didn't know the meaning of death. I was wondering why people were crying. I thought this was a TV show. I learned what death meant in 2003. Then I realized that Barış Manço would not come back either...
I swear to God, every time I hear this Legend's voice I break into tears, i remember how my father used to play Barish's songs on VHS cassettes and he'd sink into his world, forgetting all the earthly troubles and thus made me love Barish, I grew up in Georgia but despite this, he was so popular, even here people appreciated he's work and sweet, kind voice... RIP Legend
Thank you so much Luke, for your interest in the Turks and our language. It is really nice to know you ... ❤❤ Barış Manço was a peace envoy who traveled to many countries around the world.
It was nice of you to make a peace sign at the end of the video. Barış Manço didn't just make songs. He was a hero who lived for Peace. That's why he was so loved."Teşekkürler" for video Luke!
I really like you man. I feel like I've known you for years, like my brother or like a Turkish people. I think you started to understand our feelings. I hope you will be much more successful as you deserve.
I was 11 and me, my mom and my brother were having breakfast and listening radio. We learned his death from the radio and shocked. My brother was a huge fan and he collected his all albums released. Thanks to my brother I also grow up listening his beautiful music. RIP
Hey luke, I would like to mention some Barış Manço's songs. You really need to listen them. Baris Manco - Ride On Miranda Barış Manço - Dragon Fly Baris Manco - Trip Fairground Barış Manço - Lonely Man These are english songs. I did think that maybe you enjoy to listen Barış Manço in english, with the occasion of his death anniversary. Also, I believe as a Rock music fan, these songs has very precursor sounds for their time, if you consider that these songs from an album which was recorded at 1976. Barış Manço - Eğri Eğri Doğru Doğru Barış Manço - Dereboyu Kavaklar And these are one of my favorites, these are some anonymous folk-music with special arrangement of Barış Manço and his friend's. The first one especially has some lyrics very humanist. The second one has very groove sound which is very cool. All of these songs has very unique and proggressive sound and technique for their time and furthermore, its has very deep meanings for Turkish peoples. Kolay gelsin =)
the beginning was really heartwarming... I'm turning 30 year old this year and Baris Manco has been a part of my life since the beginning, the whole family listened to his songs, his music was everywhere. until today and even further, his music has a special place in my life. thanks a lot for your efforts (esp. your research!) and your appreciation towards him. your reaction was great! i hope you understand what i want to express. Greetings from germany and stay healthy! (you have a new follower on SNS and youtube 😊)
I was 7yo when he passed away, and whenever I hear this song I remember that day. He was a beautiful part of our childhood, we are so lucky to grow up with his songs and TV shows. Thank you for remembering him such a special day.
Luke you are literally so adorable 🥺 it warms my heart how enthusiastically you embrace other cultures. If more people aspired to have an attitude like yours there would be less hate in the world. Thanks for giving our rich culture a try! Selam from a german turkish girl, your turkish is great dude✊

You really dont know what a beatiful person you are. There is no Turkish man has explained the world that Barış Manço is a value of Turkish Nation ever. When you react you really feel it inside. I really enjoy watching your videos and feel proud. Want to see the next ones. Thank you very much.
I cried so much while watching this video that I just cried in silence 😓. I am Turkish and I have never really met him, but I feel so much about Barış Manço ... Everything he has left us and done is so precious that I don't even have to see him, I can feel it inside me. Thanks for making and sharing this video. People do not know the value of things in their environment while living. We still do not know the value of the artists and values in our own country. I feel very sorry for this, but I think you and people like you made us notice us. Thank you and nice to meet you Luke ...
I was lucky to grow as a child of "Brother Barış". Anytime I hear this song, it reminds me his funeral and how much we loved him, as he means a lot for us, for our elders. His songs have been representative of love of couples, respect to our elders, education to kids. I was at high school when he passeed away. There were thousands of people at cemetery and his home. I'm almost 40 and still miss him so much, his death still makes me cry. RIP Brother Barış. Thank you for the video, you made me cry with happy tears. Lots of love.
I was 6 years old when Barış Abi passed away. I still remember that day. I asked my mom "Is he going to heaven right, mom?". She said of course my son. Then i cried.
Luke, you are the first youtuber that i follow reaction videos and as an amateur musician i can tell your reactions and emotions are real, you dont act for more likes and i really respect that. We Turkish people are pretty emotional and when we love someone, we follow him to the end. i hope you make more videos bro and get far more followers. Thanks for caring Turkish music.
Great reaction video, Luke. I was thirteen when we lost Barış Manço. To this day, if I go a little while without listening to his songs, just hearing his voice again lifts me up and makes me happy, like greeting a long lost friend. Legend indeed. It's great that you're inclined to discover more of his back catalogue, though I'd definitely suggest you try to find translations for the lyrics as well, because his lyrics range from straight silly/funny to incredibly heartbreaking to reflective to uplifting and whatever else you can think of. I mean, he has a song called "Bear" (Ayı) in which he tries to explain to a court judge why he and his family caused a ruckus in a zoo, or another one dedicated to his cousin "Zehra" who overstays her welcome and he lists everything he tried to make her leave and begs her to just go. :D
It is a late respond but I would like to add some memorable child-like songs from him too. Nane limon kabuğu; this song explains a herbal remedy for cold and criticising his relative to wearing thin and light colored clothes in winter. Domates biber patlıcan; it is a song complaining about a street seller who ruins a confession. Our guy getting ready to confess his love and at the exact time when he confesses to the girl, a street vegetable seller yells as "I have tomato, pepper, eggplants" cuts his confession and ruins the moment. Arkadaşım eşek; about a kid moves out from village to city and misses his friend donkey. Actually this song is about missing the village which he born in. These are the ones which comes to my mind.
Dearest Luke, it's so nice getting to know you. Looking forward to your videos. Always feeling excited about your reactions because it makes me rethink about the songs we listen & live through. Your reactions feel so accurate that it almost feels like a convo. Keep it up ✋
Adamin kanali buyumesi icin kalitesiz ama popiler sarkilari onermemiz lazim. Zeki muren kadar iyi ses hic duymamistir bu adam. Alisik degildir. Baris manco dinledi nasil dinlediyse etkisinden cikamiyor.
I was a little kid when he died and I was a huuuuge fan of him. I remember sobbing sooo hard, for days, my family was so desperate to cheer me up, my father ended up buying some of his records and he still keeps them at home. Whenever I hear his voice, my chest tightens and tears fill my eyes.
The job that you doing with this video is building a bridge across the cultures and let both side understand each other. So thank you so much for being that bridge and the one getting across the knowladge. Thumbs up.
Lyrics When you smile, roses blossom Gülpembe Nightingales call for your name And we listen, Gülpembe When you come, spring comes with you Rivers sing your name And we rejoice, Gülpembe With the rains of autumn one day, you passed away We couldn't believe, Gülpembe Our home town went silent Our home town is now devoid of you, Gülpembe One last song on my lips, Gülpembe Still singing for you, still calling out to you, One last hope in my eyes, Gülpembe Still looking for you and long for you, Gülpembe. By the way, I was 9 years old when I lost Barış Abi and in the news and radio they announced his death with this song and Can Bedenden Çıkmayınca (When The Spirit Won't Leave The Body) another song of him about the meaningless of life. These two songs nailed in minds of children of that time and I've almost never listened to these two songs since that day. Because it's very painful for me... Anyway, I wanted to suggest a song of him called Trip Fairground that I think you'd love. Many Barış fans don't know about this song but it's classic!
It's eight o'clock in the morning and I came across this video. Here I am sitting and again mesmerized by the music oft this man. I am in my fifties and listen to this beautiful song with tears in my eyes...!
Hey Luke, I have to say I really respect the amount of work you put into your videos. It's hard to believe that there's a language barrier cause your comments are spot on. I really hope that you become a worldwide well-known youtuber. Keep up the good work, best wishes!

It is great that you listen to Barış Manço, try to understand and understand people. I was both proud and emotional. Thank you so much
Dearest Luke, it's so nice getting to know you. Looking forward to your videos. Always feeling excited about your reactions because it makes me rethink about the songs we listen & live through. Your reactions feel so accurate that it almost feels like a convo. Keep it up ✋

Selam seni çok sevdik Luke ❤️🥰
I was a little kid when he died and I was a huuuuge fan of him. I remember sobbing sooo hard, for days, my family was so desperate to cheer me up, my father ended up buying some of his records and he still keeps them at home. Whenever I hear his voice, my chest tightens and tears fill my eyes.
Cem Karaca-Deniz Üstü Köpürür you should listen this one also. He has perfect voice.
The job that you doing with this video is building a bridge across the cultures and let both side understand each other. So thank you so much for being that bridge and the one getting across the knowladge. Thumbs up.

Lyrics
When you smile, roses blossom Gülpembe
Nightingales call for your name
And we listen, Gülpembe
When you come, spring comes with you
Rivers sing your name
And we rejoice, Gülpembe
With the rains of autumn one day, you passed away
We couldn't believe, Gülpembe
Our home town went silent
Our home town is now devoid of you, Gülpembe
One last song on my lips, Gülpembe
Still singing for you, still calling out to you,
One last hope in my eyes, Gülpembe
Still looking for you and long for you, Gülpembe.
Emeğinize Sağlık.
It's eight o'clock in the morning and I came across this video. Here I am sitting and again mesmerized by the music oft this man. I am in my fifties and listen to this beautiful song with tears in my eyes...!
