    Brilliant guide. I’m installing a new sink for my 94 yr old dad on Monday and was worried but it’s really very easy with your video to help me. Cheers lar!

    Thanks for this. I had to adjust the pieces slightly because the spigot wouldn't fit on the left hand side under the smaller sink as it was hitting the side of the cupboard so I bought a 90 degree compression knuckle bend and cut the L shaped pipe to make it straight and managed to fix everything together like that with the T junction under the larger sink. Fingers crossed we'll get no leaks.

    Great "S trap"!

  • @daibhiseaghdha153

    there should not a be a loop on the flexible overflow, lower than the overflow inlet on the sink waste fitting, crap will build up, and eventually block it, and stink of bacteria etc.

    Hi,,do you have one with a double spigat for 2 wastes

  • @teecat2321
    @teecat2321 6 лет назад

    at the bottom after the trap when you need to connect a pipe to connect all this to the buildings waste pipe does it matter whether the installed waste pipe is above or below the buildings waste pipe (sorry this is the best way I can frame this question )

      water will travel not go up hill , like a ball will travel down hill, but not up hill, by its self, so it only needs 2 or 3 degrees of down hill slope on the
      " horizontal "waste pipe, or vertical, if it does not need to travel horizontally.in any direction, its all down to gravity, just look at a river, it's always going down hill, unless the tide is pushing it back

    Where 2 get all the parts from ?( Hd ,lowes r limited!)

  • @Jade-pd3wm

    I had a blockage in the pipe work under my kitchen sink. I unscrewed it all and took the parts to the bathroom to clean them placing them in the loo pan so that once the cleaning fluid had done its job i could flush the loo to rinse them. Once done, i took the parts back to put together, but found the parts didnt fit properly. I can only assume a small section had been flushed away. Now I have a blocked toilet and a sink and washing machine i cant use ! Think I need a plumber now !

  • @rubythesheep2
    @rubythesheep2 2 года назад

    I think the plumber who did mine did it badly as it leaks and one of the pipes is loose and just sits in while another one falls off. I assume it's not supposed to be like that.

    And what if after some time, the linking tube gets 'gunge' in it? The smell comes back up into the sink. Surely there should be some sort of P trap on both sinks, not just one?

    • @Nicochocolas
      @Nicochocolas 7 лет назад

      Spongesyellow I think that since the link tube is connected to the larger basin, the pressure and volume of water will keep it clear and both sinks can use the same P pipe to prevent back up and odours. Two P pipes would be a bit awkward to install.

    • @daibhiseaghdha153
      @daibhiseaghdha153 3 года назад

      t would definitely be better to have two traps, especially "Mcalpine " anti-syphon tubular P traps, to reduce the odour, traps stop the foul air entering the building, they do the single trap kit, to increase the storage space under the sink, which is less important than good health, and there should not a be a loop on the flexible overflow, lower than the overflow inlet on the sink waste fitting, crap will build up, and eventually block it, and stink of bacteria etc.
      plus every thing should not be tightened up completely until it is all assembled, as some parts will be under strain, and out of alignment, start at the top and work your way down.
      I take the traps apart and clean them in warm water with dissolved soda crystals, wearing gloves, as the soda crystals leach out your sebum skin oil, which can cause dermatitis, nobody needs that.

    I don't know, the P-trap is too high and it will trap too much water, it will clog faster this way, I prefer more Jimten or Ani Plast made products, they seem more reliable and they look more appealing. . .

    • @daibhiseaghdha153
      @daibhiseaghdha153 3 года назад

      1. 1/2" - 40mm trap, normally has a depth of seal a 3 inches - 75mm of water, to stop foul air entering the building, P traps are better than S traps as S traps can induce self siphonage, which takes most of the water seal away, better to have Mcalpine anti-syphon traps. looks are not more important than function, that's why vehicles have round wheels, instead of square wheels, looks do not make things work, unless you think that things are just ornaments, and health is not important. not saying I do not like thing that are good looking, just look at nature they have evolved and adapted to survive to the best of there ability, to be functional, but in doing so are attractive, because they make sense. and will not survive without every thing else, in balance.

    Good instructional video - but the Muzak is so distracting...

    • @daibhiseaghdha153
      @daibhiseaghdha153 3 года назад

      your right, it is just a distraction, like have two people talking into your ears at the same time, unnecessary.and futile.
      by the way, the video is not all okay, there are some things which are not good, if you know about plumbing, there are a lot of videos on youtube which profess to know what they are doing, but if you know more than them, you see lots of incorrect advise, due to the ignorance, which they are unawae of, I sure they mean well, but it is best to learn from experts, which will reduce the amount of work going in the wrong direction, causes problems in the present, and the future.

      take picture of them, before you take them apart, do one trap at a time, in a bucket, with dissolved soda crystals in hot water, use an old tooth brush.
      ( wear water proof gloves, as the soda crystals will leach out your sebum oil in your skin, and as a consequence can cause dermatitis )
      then rinse the parts, before assembling them, do not wash them all together, or you will spend hours doing a jigsaw puzzle, without a picture.
      unless you have been plumbing since 1972 like me.
