  • Mike Glover spent 18-years in the US Army and then spent time as a government contractor for OGA. He served as a SGM in Special Forces and deployed multiple times to combat theaters.
Watch as he reacts to the video and breaks down how each of them acts and shares what he might do differently based on his CQB experience in the situation at hand. He and Fieldcraft Survival Director of Media Austin Lester discuss the details of the home invasion video and how you can be more prepared for a situation like this if it happens in your own home.
Mike is the Founder and CEO of Fieldcraft Survival, a company he founded to help educate, train, and equip the everyday citizen for the worst-case scenario.

It's a tactic my aunt taught me about CQB, its boiled down to 3 things and I'm pretty sure its 1 speed (doesn't means go fast but judge the situation) 2 maintain momentum and agression (dont give ground unless necessary and take what your enemy gives you) and 3 your brain is your most dangerous weapon so use it

I got into an argument with one of my friends once who didn't talk to me for a month because I told her that I would absolutely shoot an intruder. She said "You would kill someone over stuff? You would take a life over things?" I said "No. But I would to save myself or family. That person has already thought about what they're going to do if someone is home. And the fact they still came in means they're more than likely willing to take my life. So yes. I would take a life to protect myself and my family."

They have been treated the same all throughout history. It's only recently that a thief was downgraded on the crime severity scale. They even hung horse thieves as little as 140 years ago. In medieval times you would get "The Wheel" or "The Breaking Wheel" for stealing. (Check that shit out. Shooting someone is little red riding hood child's play compared to that shit)

I taught my wife very similar tactic.
Explained that when going after the bad guy in your house , you forfit a tactical advantage.
Lock the bedroom door, take a concealed position with line of sight on the door.
IF that door breaks open, then shoot when they enter .
Nothing in the house is worth dying for. Things can be replaced. Breaking into a locked bedroom also establishes the bad guy's intent to do harm.

The first time I had a gun pointed at me was during my job as a pizza delivery boy at age 19. It was already at some apartments known for crime & it was a small stub nose 38 revolver under a bandanna.
I gave him the money & also purposely some free large pizza coupons that were numbered & were on file.
So even in that situation I was already doing the most I can to at least get this guy arrested.
Sure enough his girlfriend used the stolen coupon we called the police and they got her and him in the parking waiting for their order which was like 3 days after he robbed me.

A year ago this month, I bought my gun. While I was in the hospital back then, someone broke into my house twice. I have 2 cats and a deaf dog. The cats are good indicators if there's a strange in the yard. Since I'm retired and spend most of my time playing computer games, I don't have any real set routine. Many nights, I've been up til dawn. My gun is locked , loaded and no more than an arms length from me at all times. There are no kids here. If I have company, depending on who it is, I will clear my gun and remove the magazine until they leave.

My living situation is very similar to yours, except that I'm not much into games and I have no pets. The only thing that I do differently is, when company arrives, regardless of who it is, I holster my tool onto my side, cover it with a shirt. Your guests don't need to know you are carrying. I never have an unloaded tool in my house. I'm glad you got yourself a tool. Stay safe!!!

So.... you clear the gun, remove the magazine till they leave..... but someone comes in BEFORE they leave and now find you + your company unarmed (since you made your gun irrelevant at this point and chances are your company is unarmed). Now you are ALL at the invaders mercy.
Or.... you can leave your gun armed and ready to go and SITLL within reach/on you and now are the protector of you, your property AND your guests.

@@rustykoenig2167 it's ready to go. I see no need to change that.

@@NotaVampyre111 How its ready to go if you have empty chamber and magazine removed? I would suggest having magazine on, but emptying the chamber and put that bullet back to magazine. That way you least have chance to rack and open fire if need arises.

@@Hellsong89 Sorry, I wasn't very clear. It is loaded with a chambered round. I think there may be room for one more round. 14 shots should be enough. I have more mags ready to go if not. My prayer is to be ready and accurate but to never have to find out. I don't want to hurt anyone but I'll protect myself and others as best I can.

Love these videos. Reviewing real world situation is good for general public (like me) to be able to wrap my head around the types of situations I have never experienced. Long time listen of the podcast, love what you do, please keep it up, can't get enough of it!

Hell yeah, do more like this. It's always good to hear from a true expert. See if y'all can find videos on small houses, trailers etc.
