I'm Caucasian with extra fair skin. Every summer I get told by rude people that "I need a tan". It irks me, because there is nothing wrong with being fair skinned. Just like there's nothing wrong with being coloured. All shades from Snow White like me to chocolate queens are beautiful. Embrace the way god made you.
I'm proud to be chocolate darker skin. I don't want to be light or white I love my MELANIN.... & when it's hot I get even darker and never am I ashamed of my blackness
I grew up in Nigeria and this was real prevalent among Nigerian women. It's sad that we've been taught to hate our natural complexion. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.
What you're doing with your daughter is absolutely amazingggggg!!! You sound like an amazing active mother! It's so nice to know that you're so knowledgable and aware of the truth & take action from the start
Representation is so important in all aspects. We need to see people who look like us as princesses, business-women, lawyers.. anything and everything 🙌🏽
Some white women want big lips and bums like us and now we want white skin like them 💅shrugs shoulders each to their own...unfortunately its an epidemic...
Powerful message!!! Even the naming of your daughter! I hope people listen cause the title of the vlog may be misleading! This is a positive message AGAINST skin bleaching! 💕💕💕 love it!!
Thank you Bahamian girl. There are so many persons who believe that all blacks are dark skinned. I am from the Bahamas, and my mother's skin colour is like yours. So yes, not all blacks are dark skinned. Some blacks are naturally fair skinned.
i bought my niece a handful of afro dolls ( believe me very cute and expensive ) in the span of 7 years. I was given good tips on how to approach this as she already had the full barbie, ken , pink van etc.. not to mention to sky blue dinner table etc ... whatever you know. I did play with the black doll with her many many times , she integrated the doll a her fantasy little sister and named Cecilia lol! when i came back a year later i brought a sister for celicia with me and we christened her together.
i will tell you one person well known for bleaching his skin micheal jackson and look what happened to his skin i am part native american and my skin gets very dark with white features and during the summer people ask about my race i am proud of my heritage i say do mot worry about your skin color educate your mind ed
thank you for the positive comment Megan ...and dont worry you don't need a tan be like the way you are it's easier to catch skin cancer the lighter you are so if you tan dnt Doo it too much ...I'm dark skin and I treasure it so to all you black girls out there pls it's nt too late to turn back
I don’t wish the bleach my skin I can tan really dark and get really light when I don’t go in the sun for really long periods of time. But for this very reason I don’t see anything wrong with people wanting to lighten their skin, they can still love themselves, I don’t think people who get spray tans or use tanning beds to get darker skin are insecure and don’t love their skin or themselves. Neither are necessarily healthy for skin just like too much sun can be bad for your skin and just like straightening or styling ur hair can be unhealthy, I don’t think wemon that use hot irons or perms don’t love themselves or their hair .we all make changes that’s arnt how we naturally are, we where make up, we change our hair, that is not because we don’t love ourselves. I think the same can be said for skin tanning and skin lightening, it’s also not something people do because they hate brown or dark skin. It’s unfair to say that. It creates a stigma about people that want to change things as being unappreciative of dark skin and that is just not true. But I appreciate this video because ther is a problem about people not appreciating dark skin and there should be a awareness about it and to encourage people to appreciate dark skin, but I just think to assume that skin bleaching is a result of not appreciating dark skin just isn’t fair.
Why do people make such a big deal out of this im mixed sometime I chemically straighten my hair and tan my skin if the look fits you why not go for it and give yourself a new look once at a time.
That's.... So tru your natural color is z best I'm dark skin and ppl always compliment me about my skin tone and saying hope u never bleach your skin I can't c Y ppl do it but real talk color don't make u look any better everyone is beautiful in because good made everyone special
Lol wowww I almost fell out my chair at 10:59 with that random lady. Lol. What a total wtf moment. You handled that well and better than I would have probably. haha. Thanks for sharing.
KMLLLL your reaction to the lady's comment thought!!!! #priceless Wow!! I mean the NERVE of some people. Listennn!! hmph! Clearly Jesus saved her when he held you back lol. I'd need the whole army to hold me.
I'm from Haiti my grandmother on my mom side is also Haitian but her parents and grandparents are mixed French,Spanish and some from the st. Thomas island. And she looked white and some of her semblings mix. She married my grandfather very dark complexion but on his side everyone has blue eyes and gray eyes. And mom look brown skin tone like and my father same. I will never forget that I had a class project about my family and when I open the calendar for picture. You should have seen the girls faces like what the hell happened. Next they keep asking how come I was black and my brother of same blood look so white ouffff. Same black people sometimes make you so confused in you race. Thank God I have a very mix family in shape, color, and nationality. It helps me get along so good with others culture, it pushes me to know about my heritage cause some people brain wash me so bad when I was little it's crazy. Now I'm in NY I get upset when some goes ohhh you don't look haitian, oh you re not black you brown with milk, one time man goes oh no you re not Haitian you belong to the French lineage where the Haitian in you😱. I was like what. I ignore it alllll and follow my heart I won't give that piece of skin away for nothing cause no matter your shade you skin is your full history.
Love this, as a mother of 2 melanin rich daughters I share your perspective being lightskinned...and its true its stupid slave mentality within our own race!!!
Yea, but where I grew up and live I was mocked for my complexion and tried to commit suicide as a teenager even my step dad said I was a devil..... if I looked like you I would be happy. I will never accept myself.
Hahaha! I don't know you personally but I'm a subbie and when I saw the title of this video I was confused and had to see what mess you were talking. Why did the person assume that you bleached your skin to begin with! Dang! Good message
You should have told that person your a natural island beauty and we have many natural skin tone in the Bahamas. You are Bahamian? Right lol. love your video's
Hey charla, to answer your question, my mom is half white and my dad also comes from a mixed ancestry ...so I am a product of that. Thank you for commenting! ❤️
You are right dear i use some lotion in the past it did me bad brought red mark under my eye to the extend i went to see the doctor and doctor told me to stop
No no honey my features look better when I'm looking lighter. My natural complexion makes me look like a weirdo. I have unattractive eyes and other features that don't compliment me with darker shade. This doesn't apply for everyone though. I see some beautiful dark skinned girls and i wish i looked bomb with their complexion

I grew up in Nigeria and this was real prevalent among Nigerian women. It's sad that we've been taught to hate our natural complexion. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.
You are very correct , God designed everyone to be as they are and it disturbs me to see beautiful dark skinned women bleaching themselves ...
What you're doing with your daughter is absolutely amazingggggg!!!
