I think this concept is good. It’s not aimed at camper van people, it’s a super convenient car camping, 5-9 lifestyle getaway helper.
The auto hold button next to the handbrake allows you to choose whether the car moves as soon as you lift your foot off the foot brake (aka creep) or whether you want to apply gas before the car moves. Some people like it at traffic lights so they don't have to keep their foot on the footbrake the whole time.
Thats the big caddy, the smaller caddy California doesn't have space behind the bed in the boot
A lovely t6.1 kombi camper with a 40 winks bed is the way to go .some of my best nights sleep have been on a 40 winks removable bed set up 👍
Fair enough thanks for the video guys. I get the Kombi note but I love my coast.
Harvey is so grown up now. We had an Amdro Boot Jump in a Peugeot Partner Tepee but my 6 foot husband and 6 foot 3 son didn’t fit so bought our motorhome. Would the Caddy be able to accommodate people of this height? Is there a dining or lounge area or is it just a bed? Looking forward to seeing it in camper mode. Take care Gill
People always comment how do I drive such a big vehicle I keep telling them that it really isn’t bigger than an estate car. Now I can say it is not longer than a caddy. I couldn’t, well I really wouldn’t want to go back to a car the van gives me so much more room and is so practical. Plus I love it.
Yeah, this is a big miss from VW. The bed and kitchen take up so much space, it becomes very difficult to use as a normal vehicle. It can only sleep two, so it’s not like you’re going away as a family in it.
There are so many 3rd party options that give much better use of the space!
Can you clarify the version, Pretty sure that’s the lwb/ maxi version, 485cm v 490 beach. Swb is 450cm.
Ah yes you’re right it’s the Maxi. Interestingly when we were at the Press Launch we were shown a larger gap behind the kitchen unit on the Maxi which isn’t on the one we have here so the kitchen area must be movable. I’ll look into this when I try out the camping area. Thanks for highlighting this 👍
40K plus with all the bits. Have people gone mad.
Was there another video with the van being used for a camping trip? I’m struggling to envisage where everything would go. Can it fit a yeti coolbox? It’s a shame VW didn’t use the space a bit better. If you remove the rear seats, can stuff be tied down to the floor? Are there rails?
Can you set up the bed by yourself as if you were a solo camper? I watched a review of that camper couple years ago (can't remember who) but it seems like it needs 2 people to set up the bed as it's apparently difficult to fit the bed to the pillars of the car.
You can, it’s a bit fiddly the first couple of times but then you get a knack for it.
I would purchase one it's just the lack of a leisure battery, I don't fancy not being able to start the vehicle in the morning. I wonder if one would be added on an upgrade?
removing the bed does look an epic faff .. however i'd be interested in can you remove the kitchen / storage part ??
Please could you see if you can review the Hymer Venture S, I think it is a really innovative design and has everything I would want in a motorhome. Perhaps they could get one at Southdowns Motorhome Centre as they are a Hymer dealer. I would probably get one if I had the money £200k 😯
Were there any more videos in this series? Or was it so bad you sent it back!
Lizzy was very ill so we had to abandon the series I’m afraid
@@ABusAndBeyond oh no! I hope she is recovering well ❤️🩹
And what is it like as a camper.
Is there a pop top?
No
Hi can you open up the bed and show us how much head and body space there is also what other space is available. Is there a tent for the back and unsure if you have a roof tent but would love to know how stable one would feel on top. Cheers very nice video
I like the Caddy but there are So many better conversions than the Cali. I’m sure VW will sell plenty but I’d far rather buy a Caddy and then get it converted.
🙂👍🙂
Mini me 😂
Not your best effort. A press vehicle delivery must assume the recipient will check how things work, before criticism. Handbrake, dash display, nav settings are all in the handbook. If anyone goes to Ikea with a mostly full car they are planning to fail. The difference in price would pay for a garage to store the camper parts for 10 months many times over. Also, buy a car seat that isn't quite so large. The swivel system must take 15cm more.
Hard to find any positives in this. A step too far for VW marketing I’m afraid.
Edit: By the way, VAG doesn’t stand for Volkswagen Audi Group, it’s Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, the equivalent of Volkswagen PLC. Audi is just one of their sub brands.
I have the 2014 version and I love it. We all want different campers you know!
that was a fairly mundane boring video, not for me, all thye best, unsubscribe time
