    MAN THIS HURTS TO SEE, I AM A 49ERS FAN I BEEN THERE 5 TIMES AND IT BREAKS MY HEART I COULDN'T IMAGINE HOW PEOPLE FEEL THAT HAVE BEEN THERE MANY TIMES AND EXPERIENCED MEMORIES AND HISTORY, THEY SHOULD HAVE BUILD ANOTHER STADIUM OVER IT AND KEEP THE FIELD ON THE SAME POSITION SO PEOPLE KNOW WHERE "THE CATCH" WAS CAUGHT

    I saw the Beatles play their last concert there. I saw Willy Mays, Montana and Rice and so many other memories.

      Shame it wasn't put under some kind of protection order. All we have now is film footage thankfully preserved in digital form

    Great Video, watching these videos is like coming to hospital each day to see a old friend that you know is going to pass away. I've had a lot of good memories in Candlestick Park, actually the first upper section to be demolished was where I watched my first NFL football game.
    I went to the first game at Levi Stadium and it just didn't feel the same, the total atmosphere was different, funny things I'll actually miss being cold will sitting in my seats because it made you stand up and cheer. Also Candlestick didn't have the bloody navy stairs that Levi has in the nosebleed section, it feels like your walking up a 70 degree, as well as felt unsafe.
    In all, I know change happens but I'll miss good old Candlestick Park.

    From the age of 4-7 I lived in California. I was in California as I saw the last space shuttle launch, and the last game from candlestick Park. I remember always wanting to go to candlestick Park. I never had. And now it is completely gone just like my childhood. My family and I moved away to hawaii. And life carried on.. Man time flies. Unlike the kids of today, I actually remember this stuff because I grew up with it. This video made me shed a couple tears. I am planning on going to visit California soon just to see how much has changed. I remember having so many good memories of California.

    I was there over 100 times watching the Giants and 49ers, dating back to the late 1960s. I didn’t feel bad at all watching this, because their new stadiums are awesome. Candlestick was like an old memory, with no real use anymore. I imagine the Cow Palace won’t be around much longer, either.

      You're the kind of guy that would tear down the Roman Coliseum and make way for a parking lot.

      @@stormwarning1235 Admit it: Wouldn’t the Rome Colosseum be much more awesome if it was renovated to its natural state? Right now it’s half-ruin, nothing but rubble.

    Man OH Man seeing those escalators still standing gave me chills like I was just up them not to long ago. It's amazing how simple sounds,smell, and sights can give your old brain into overdrive at times. From Games to Concerts to tailgates to stumble back to the car. Good Times.

    Drove up from LA to see a Giants game there with some friends when I was a teenager back in 1988. We went to the stadium hours before the game just to look around and take some pics. When we got closer to the stadium we noticed that there were groundskeepers working on the field. One of the workers saw us looking through the fence, came over and invited us onto the field. It was so cool! We took pictures with our disposable cameras of us sitting in the dugout and at the homerun fence next to the retired number signs (Mays 24 etc). Great memory of that stadium.

    Wow, I actually didn't know this was demolished, but I guess it makes sense I suppose with the 49ers now at Levi's Stadium, Giants at ATT Park. Great video and sad! I liked that park and glad I caught a game out when I was out there in '93. SF is an awesome town!

    FYI: There is no actual demolition in this video at all. The title fooled me into thinking I was going to see it demolished (like with dynamite on a 3...2...1... count.) 2:23 is a pretty neat flyover shot though.

    Watching The Stick go down is like watching the Parthenon, or the Roman Coliseum being torn down.. There is truly so much history there.. So Many Championships, so many hero's who walked the halls or graced the field. It seems Sacrilegious to just destroy it for Progress sake, or for monetary gains. It was a beautiful Edifice.. May She rest in peace..

    I have a nice T-shirt that says Respect The 'Stick. I am glad it is gone but at the same time miss it and really looks like something is majorily wrong at Hunters Point. But the '9ers and Giants are still rocking! Go 9ers

    I had the pleasure of seeing a game at The Stick in 1988, Cardinals- Giants, Giants won 2-1! Only mistake my buddy and I made,(we were tourists from Toronto) was walking to the park from downtown(stayed at The Californian), we were told just to walk 3rd St., you can't miss it! My feet are still sore today, 34 years later! Does anyone have an idea of how far that was? I know we hailed a cab part way back to the hotel and that cost us $40, not counting tip! Other then that, had a great time!

    Fresh water that you could drink is used to dampen the dust as the state is turning
    to dust.

    • @johnnymoretti
      @johnnymoretti 9 лет назад

      wiedep Not so. The water is taken from the bay at different locations. It is not potable water they are using. And in case you weren't aware, the Bay Area gets rain even when the rest of the state is dry.

    • @wiedep
      @wiedep 9 лет назад +1

      Johnny M From GreenBiz 6/23 article "Materials from 49ers' Candlestick Park score a second life"...
      ...Lennar came under fire when the Bay Area News Group published
      a story accusing the company of wasting thousands of gallons an hour of
      drinking water to hold down dust during the demolition despite free
      recycled water being available less than 2 miles away, as part of
      a SFPUC drought conservation program...
      ...Lennar deflected the newspaper’s claim, saying San Francisco water officials had forbidden the use of recycled water. Although officials initially told reporters the company could use recycled water, Lennar ultimately was proved correct - state health codes DO PROHIBIT the use of recycled water for dust mitigation...
      ...the company has no choice but to use drinking water to hold down dust...
      ...prior to the start of demolition, water authorities informed us that we (Lennar) could not use recycled water for the demolition of Candlestick...
      LOOK IT UP
      I unfortunately "lived" on the peninsula for almost 7 years and most of that time there was NO RAINFALL for 6 to 8 months at a time, only exceptions
      would be a narrow band along the coastline.
      The state and city twits who are killing the place are responsible for the hundreds of thousands of wasted gallons because they did not inform Lennar that recycled water could be used, the company was only following the typically NorCal restrictive regulations. I'm glad I'm long gone from that place.

      @johnnymoretti 9 лет назад +1

      I stand corrected. Thanks for the info. I lived in Palo Alto for years, too, and past the park every day to work. The Bay Area politics are too much for me!

    I used to watch the 49ers football used to play football games in candlestick park as a fan of the old school 49ers especially the catch between the 49ers and the Cowboys in the 1980's and now I'm very sad that Candlestick Park is no more and the 49ers got a new home in the next city down in Santa Clara area where they call home for now and they renamed the stadium Levi Stadium after the Jeans company I think and I'm pretty sure they have the ring of fame with former members of the 49ers team and owners
