Most of the Holo/Niji girls were small time streamers before they signed on and after 2-3 years they can now do their own thing with a big audience that will follow. Corpos bring exposure, marketing, merchandising, community, etc. etc. Some of them are predatory garbage, obviously, but they definitely serve a purpose.
@@Haranaconda There's also the fact that the model and rigging is done, which is a pretty big barrier to entry if you don't have a pre-existing fanbase to rely on. Free pre-rigged models are out there but vtubers need to establish their brand so generic models anyone can use is going to be limiting for growth. So as long as the Corpo isn't blooding you dry, at least you avoid a big pay out in the lean early days.

Yagoo did release a statement recently saying he heard the fan concerns at recent announcements and is taking them to heart. If Hololive was slipping, I hope Yagoo can patch it up before we lose anyone else. I don't want to lose this either.

I started watching Vtubers because i saw how much fun everyone was having. Sure, its not all sunshine and rainbows all the time, nothing is. But the good largely outways the bad in my experience

Anyone talking about market saturation is either too young and inexperienced, or too stupid to know what they're talking about. There may be a resettling away from larger corporations, but this sector of the entertainment industry is still tiny and pretty much brand new so it will continue to grow for a long time.
Is phase the only major corpo that hasnt had some kind of controversy this year? With all the high profile graduations and corpos imploding phase connect, the sad girl company, has been remarkable stable and even growing more popular. Phase is in the best possible position it can be in going into 2025.
2024 is a bad year for a lot of vtuber corpo even Vshojo. But at the same time, it's COULD be a good year for Phase Connect, should Hina able to settle her ongoing issue with her family, that is, dood.

For me I ended up losing 2 people who I spent hours watching from hololive this year alone. The discontinuing of fuwamoco morning also stung but was understandable. Then the jumpscare of rin penrose also announcing they were leaving brave group (luckily it wasnt a straight up graduation). I just am on a ticking time clock for some of the people I watch in hololive and indies and it worries me that next year we will see more people moving on in their endeavors or being forced to transition out. I don't think I can take someone like Ollie leaving in the next year (doubt she will or zomily will be sad) but if that happened I'd probably quit the sphere forever.

I personally appreciate vtubing in all of its forms. The fact that such a medium exists is fantastic and allows people to express themselves in such a unique way. I love that people can get together to share their enjoyment over these creators and have fun. I've seen people from so many backgrounds come to watch vtubers its insane from military, to nurses and doctors, to regular joes in office.

It's like we've been in the earliest days of cable TV, when most people still watched the 4-5 broadcast networks and some watched some smaller, somewhat obscure channels via cable. Now we're getting into the days of prime cable and beyond, when there are 60+ viable options for spending your time and money. It's all but inevitable there will be increasing amount of content available, but far fewer shared cultural milestones as a result.
