This is a fantastic series. The script, the language, choreography.....the atmosphere is really there and all made possible by a hardworking, professional stellar cast!
I love the show too, but I don't think it's very convincing in terms of the 1950's. The characters say and do a lot of things that are much closer to the values of our own time than the 1950's. I do however think that the show is beautifully done visually speaking and that the cast makes us believe in the characters even when they behave anachronistically.
Hi I live in England and have been watching avidly to "A Place to call Home" and am enjoying it emmensley, especially the great acting of Noni Hazelhurst, what an actress this lady is,car'nt wait for the drama to come on every day its so good, but she is amazing, good to find this site to find out more about the lady and other things she has done.
I just discovered this show. I've never called a woman beautiful before; I've said things like gorgeous or pretty. As Mrs. Bligh she is truly beautiful. She radiates. She is that elusive woman who, when she smiles, just lights up and hints at so much within in. Quite incredible really.
Lovely lady, just love her part in the show, and what a wonderful actress, along with all the rest of the cast, it just brings back the 1950,s and makes it so real for us all, who were growing up in that time.....so nice to get away from all the violence and horrors of this day and age.....
I absolutely love this show. Intelligent tv. I find Australian films and tv are just that well-written, deeply feeling, and supremely acted. Bevin Lee is a skilled writer and brave human being. Thank you to all our ancestors who lived through those horrific experiences.
A wonderful show. Noni is the reason I continued watching and then the other characters grew and I was eventually obsessed with all of their storylines. But Mrs. Bligh WAS the show. What a great actress. Marta too! They were all pretty amazing in their own ways. Exceptionally well cast.
I'm an American and watch this series faithfully; can't wait to see it! I wish someone (like Ellen DeGeneras) would bring the cast to the States for her show. It's so good!
I love this show. I even liked Elizabeth, there were reasons why she was the way she was. Such a fantastic cast and real stories with real characters. I related most to Olivia, it was wonderful to see a strong wife in a lavander marriage.
Watch place called home from the start it was fantastic loving the new one that on Now all great people i realy injoy it keep the good work up you are brilliant
I think PBS just got series 3. I'm in the U.S. and last night there was a trailer for what looks like series 3, episode 1. I found the complete episode on You Tube and had just watched it. The trailer showed George in hospital, which doesn't take place in the final episode of series 2. So, I'm crossing my fingers.
Subscribe to Acorn TV- even for a few months-it is 5 a month and I think there is a week or two's free trial-it has all the seasons, including the current one which is almost over. 5 Seasons. PLUS, it has so many other great shows- as long as you are in the US you can subscribe, I don't know if you are.
Love the show but the suggestion that young children watch this is a little nuts. The sex scenes are overly graphic and could have been left out. And why is George written as such a wimp?
I love this show as well. And as far as young viewers I think that depends on how young we are talking about. I think that around 9 or 10 young children become more aware and start to ask questions so I see know harm as long as there is a parent around to explain what is going on. I also think you are completely wrong about George. It takes a great deal of strength to not lash out every time someone makes you angry. I know a lot of people think that fighting, scratching, and running over people makes life more interesting but I think that the world could use a lot more George Bligh's in it. Someone who thinks before they speak, someone who realizes every word spoken has an effect on the people around them so they always approach life in a more kind and gentle way. I don't think him a wimp at all but rather someone that can make a real difference on the peoples lives around him. I wish I were more like George.
I love Elizabeth ❤ Noni is an extraordinary actress and plays Mrs Bligh so well! Thank you for your great work! 🙏💕💕
This show is an absolute masterpiece.

Series was outstandingly acted. Especially considering the fact that the script buggered belief in some instances- no pun intended.
What does that mean "the script buggered belief in some instances"?
Where in the world can I buy this serie ???
