    Just recently found your channel and I love it! Teaching high school acting "live" and "zoom" and/or virtual at the same time is extremely challenging, as all the teachers out there can attest, so using your videos as a jumping off point has saved me untold hours of re-inventing the wheel, so to speak. Thank you!

    Great video! I read 'An Actor Prepares' years ago and it seemed clear and practical so far as I remember, but having someone explain the concepts to you is better still; because you're speaking from experience it makes more sense to me. What I also like is that you're assuming little or no prior experience and working from the ground up. That makes it really accessible to me. I've downloaded the resource and will check back next week to watch the exercises. Thanks for sharing this information.

    Hello. I am a High School Drama teacher here in the US. I am sure (like you) we are all undergoing a difficult time right now. Teaching acting remotely without being able to connect with my students has been difficult but I am enjoying the challenge. I was trained in Stanislavski method as a young theatre student many years ago. I've been searching for a clear/concise video to share with my students on Stanislavski methods. We have covered a lot of the work you speak about such as the actors instrument (his body) importance of good vocal technique/breathing techniques, do's and don'ts such as gesturing or theatre of representation (indicating sadness by frowning or anger with a grimace etc.) avoiding cliche's and allowing the physicality of a character to be dictated by internal factors and struggles AVOIDING representing or gesturing emotions. I really enjoyed your video and I would like to share with my students. Perhaps you might consider other videos geared toward teachers teaching Stanislavski remotely? Like the others who have commented below . . . I've read all 3 books but it's nice to have the "Stanislavski for Dummies" of "Stanislavski Cliff notes" version at our fingertips. LOL. Thanks for sharing!

      Hello. Thank you for your lovely comment. It means a lot right now.
      In terms of content for remote teaching, is there anything in particular you might find of use? For example, do you cover Brecht, Artaud or other practitioners? Or perhaps more on Stan? A lesson plan with resources?

    • @marilynstoddard6911
      @marilynstoddard6911 4 года назад +1

      It is an entry level class. I think it's best to stick with Stanislavski right now and not overload. (Especially since we are working REMOTELY ONLY.) And, . . . thanks AGAIN and STAY WELL!

    Is it theoretically possible for the best actors to play EVERY role? Or is there always a certain range within your own temparament (that can hardly be changed, right?) Within which a role can be played credibly?

    • @OrganicActing
      @OrganicActing  3 года назад +1

      Good question. Some actors play to 'type' some have more of a range. Some actors have made a great success of playing to type - look at Michael Caine! I would like to think all actors have a broad range if they work at their craft and given opportunities.

    • @MrMaximeloni

      @@OrganicActing who would be an example for an actor, who can play a broad range of Characters?

    • @OrganicActing

      The obvious choices are Daniel Day-Lewis and Gary Oldman. But have you tried Alec Guinness' early work with Ealing Studios? In 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' he plays nine characters!

    • @OrganicActing

      A unit break would be: the start of a new act or scene; when a character enters or exits; or when there is a severe change in the drama of the piece.
