This is sad. That building could have been saved for anything from senior living to low-income housing. Plus it was an iconic high-rise that made Evansville's skyline unique. Same with Gabe's Tower in Owensboro.
The implosion woke me up Sunday morning, I thought it was thunder. My wife laughed at me and said it was the Old National Bank building going up in smoke.........
@@richardr7947 a highrise would be good for the skyline/tourism, ect...not all highrises are meant for office space. It would have also been good for residential space or retail, especially since the main shopping mall is miles from the city center. For a city that wants to grow it seems like it's moving backwards lol. The city planning in that city is awful.
@@nycdrake7410 right? I mean the reason it was vacant was mainly because ONB wanted to move three blocks down, big deal. But I'm pretty sure they came out ahead on the deal land-swap wise or whatever and it didn't really make sense to waste good potential park area right there for them to have better office views. I know Evansville enough that the situation of 'having' to implode it was avoidable but also a consequence of various kicking the collective can down the road decisions by local politicans.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but that building was an eyesore. This city has to keep moving forward and modernize to stay relevant. There has been great progress here and there and I commend the mayor for it. Now let's get those sidewalks done!!!! This is not a good city to be in if you don't have a vehicle or would like to walk/jog. This is a very real obstacle for people trying to get to work, shopping, etc. Newburgh, in comparison, has sidewalks everywhere.... even in the middle of nowhere!!! Just my thoughts. If the city only works for the better off.....I would argue it works for no one. BTW: I do have transportation but I have been on that side of things as a low wage single mother in the past and now disabled, so the issue is close to my heart!
yep, crazy how copious amounts of jet fuel and professionally placed cuts and charges can both make a building go from standing to on the ground without. your direct assistance, isn't it?

The plumbing and electrical stuff in the building wasn’t able to be saved.
Modifying a commercial building into residential costs a fortune.
And with an old building like this, it’s much cheaper to build from scratch.
they're not real smart in this part of the country can't even decorate a xmas tree
@@Nesquick1121or spell the word “tree”.
Loved the "For whom the bell tolls" affect!!
I know it's a controlled demolition and very well planned beforehand, but that's still so scary to watch. It's also fascinating!

Who was clapping and cheering that 🧐. It was somewhat sad ( in my opinion) but I was born and raised here.
Sad. Iconic building.... To be replaced by some low rise bullshít
you really don't need high rise office buildings anymore cause most people that work in offices work at home cause the power of the internet.

Any asbestos in that dust? Or was it removed prior to demo.
hahaha... think so, you think “they” are concerned?
Yes. They always remove any asbestos using a specialized crew for that and depose it in a special landfill.

Need new mayor

Hold up guys! I left my pen in there…
💀💀💀
Same company that did the twin towers and building 7, the 47 story building that 97% of the population doesn't know about.

Good bye old friend. Good bye. You will be remembered.
Another dying city.....
I am in indianapolis i am ready to get the hell away from here.
Accounting for past mistakes
Still alot there is to learn
Is that ACDC’s “Hell’s Bells” starting in background? The address IS 420!
Looks like NYC 20 years ago. Hmmm I’m sure the used 🛩 fuel bring it down.
sad sad coudnt it have been use to house people in it to keep them off the streets
Don’t worry. They’re building hobo apartments now. Right by there, as a matter or fact
That's a good idea but it needed so much work to it that nobody wanted to pay for it
I love the video wish it was longer
You know what happens when concrete dust gets wet? It turns into concrete again. Your storm sewers are going to be a mess.
Totally wrong, LOL...you obviously know nothing about concrete.
@@killer408cid Correct. Concrete is already chemically bonded to water
looks like WTC7, and WTC1&2
I wonder what company did the demolition
CDI Loizeau Inc.
Didn’t even realize this happened

Agreed
Agree. ONB building was an ugly testament to the "modern" steel & glass architecture. Glad it is gone.
I disagree. I thought it was pretty cool looking

Remind me of 911
Exactly. Controlled Demolition Inc. Was the same company that did the 3 towers on 911.
WTC 1, WTC 2 & WTC 7.
9/11. They are two separate sets of numbers. 911 is the number for emergencies.

Wtf when did this happen?!?!?!?!?!?! No....
Nice vantage point
Let’s go Brandon
Lol
Let’s go Brandon!!
Funny how it falls into itself with all those little explosive blasts right before and no fire or planes.
It’s called basic structural engineering.
At every mass event, there’s always a woman yelling, “wooooooo!”
Yeah👍 You can hear her in the CDI video on the other side of the building. She's got hellava voice!
That looked like building 7 on 9/11.
Looked like twin towers
same process
420 was an inside job!
And if you do the research you'll find that it was the same company. Controlled Demolition Incorporated.

I totally left my cell phone in the 5th floor bathroom! Damn!
No this isnt real
looks like when the towers came down
9/11?
Looks like the twin towers ...
This building was ugly and the city is better off without it
Worse city and worse mayor ever
