@silent night You mean at 41:10? He died on purpose there to respawn immediately at the checkpoint, this time carrying the green gem. That death wasn't technically necessary but it was faster than having to backtrack all the way. So it was intentional.

I hear they are making Spyro and Crash Games based closely on the original trilogies but with updated graphics. It seems a little fruitless to me tbh. It actually seems like a pointless exercise considering how timeless Crash Bandicoot's graphics are in retrospect. But It'll be interesting.

dadude2140 Because he implemented a technique that speed runners do to save seconds on their completion time, It takes longer to go back to the warp room and load the level again than it is to warp to the beginning of the level.

I was playing the remaster earlier today and I just had to comeback to look at the original version to see how much has changed. To be honest, the original still holds up really well today. What I like especially about the original game is that when you load into a level, there's no additional loading screen, you just jump straight into it. Which I've always liked because it reminds me of playing this game back in the day where I use to say to myself: "How on earth do I get this coloured gem?", and that's when you had to look up guides to try and help you. Good times back then.

Discovered the extra lives in the bear by accident when I was younger, I was jus jumping on it for the heck of it and out pops the lives. I was like 😮. LoL.
Back before the days of the internet, you had to be either extremely lucky or had to get a Player's Guide or a Strategy Guide to know where all the secrets and collectibles were in the specific video game you were playing.
First played this game with my then best friend in middle school right around when the big jump from 2D to 3D was really taking off in games. I still didn't have my own PS1 yet, so just getting the slightest taste of games with these kinds of graphics was really exciting, and I was always dying to go over his house to play this. It seemed like it was always a dark and rainy spring morning every time I was over there around that time, and we'd dim the lights while playing, and I remember the warp room in particular had this quality to it that worked really well on those kinds of days. Just playing through the Turtle Woods style levels, half of those had rain in them, and then there were all the murky and wet sewer levels and the surfing ones. I will always associate this game with gloomy rainy days, but in a positive way. I can still smell my friend's living room when I see this, and I always get the urge to watch this or play the game whenever it rains.
Aku Aku - Are you sure we're doing the right thing, Crash Bandicoot? I have a bad feeling that Cortex is using us so that we collect the crystals so that Cortex has control of the Earth's inhabitants! Even so we will continue to collect the crystals to see what happens because Coco is keeping an eye on what Cortex is planning on using the crystals!
***** For 100%, you just need all the normal gems, crystals and regular relics. For 105%, gotta do all that, get GOLD relics, complete all the extra levels that open up after getting a multiple of 5 in relics AND THEN gold relic THOSE levels, complete the final boss fight and then 'talk' to coco in the warp room afterwards for a hidden gem.

+Alexander Wong Yeah. If you spin when you land on that metal "UP" box next to the red gem, it'll force you to stop jumping. From there, slide off of the box while jumping and spinning at the same time, and if you do that fast enough, the game will let you body slam which will get you a little bit more height and you could get the red gem if you time it well. :) lol Try it though. (Slide, Jump+Slide, SLAM)
One of the first games I owned for ps1, notalgic feeling to be able to play this as kid. Amazing story telling & gameplay that no game today can compare.
Crash 2 had the weirdest level design tbh lmao. Let's have this level with a little snow in it, carnivorous plants spitting bombs at you, totem things trying to crush you while changing their emotions...oh, and how about the whole area looks like a carpet and you dig under it. Also, BEES. Lmao I dunno, I love it, this part is my fave tbh
The only thing that i don't like is how secret some of the stuff are. Like in the first level where the bear chases you how the hell are you suppose to know you go back and jump in to the hole? Still though the game was awesome plus i love how the layout in the secret warp room is the same as the layout in crash 3 warped.

benaldo138 Well yeah. I did get all the gems back when i played it, but it was frustrating trying to find all the secrets kinds screwing a really well made game. For example on Crash 3 the secrets were much more easier. You didn't have to jump into holes just to find a secret gem. Especially the one with the bear. To get the secret you have to go back and jump in the hole. Seriously i found that one by a freak accident.
And crash one made the franchise all the crash games are only here because of crash one + it's the first game I ever played and Titans was the second so u can imagine how young I am and crash bash was my 3rd game I ever played
Aaron Tolmaci Agreed. I'd arguably remove the jetpack levels and replace them with something else, but for the rest the gameplay was on point. Crash 3 gets praised a lot, but while it had some great ideas the vehicle levels were way too many and the gems were very poorly distributed.
I found this game disc in a random fucking cd case in a thrift store for 1.99 dead serious and this was the first crash game I played n even after playing warped,wrath of cortex and twinsanity this is still my fav so far
This was definitely the best of the original 3 I thought, just the right mix of challenge to it to make you say "just one more try" every time you died. The third one was too easy to me and I didn't think much to the original but this definitely goes down as one of the greatest platformers ever :)
I don't know man, getting all platinum relics in the 3rd was not really easy. You also could try to beat the Developer times, which are almost impossible to beat, but none of this is required for a 105% run, and getting all gold relics isn't hard at all.

jawztv For me it was Warped that is the best, though. Possibly because it was the first one I've played, as well. Never really got a chance to finish the second game in my childhood as the disc was broken, and when I finally got to finish it recently using the emulator, it just didn't feel as good as beating 3. Don't get me wrong, the second game was awesome as well, but 3 has more varieties of what to do. You get to play as Coco, too and the level designs are all gorgeous, plus it was kind of the grand finale of the 'true' Crash Bandicoot trilogy, your showdown with Uka Uka and Cortex and all that. :) Love Crash Bandicoot games (the classics, at least) so much. ^_^
tbh the show stopped being good since 2003 and when the movie came out was when they should of ended it. Simpsons in HD for the first time and on the big screen was a fitting end to The Simpsons. After that the show became stale even more and mediocre and the only good thing about it now is that its in 1080p HD and looks like Family Guy. By next year in 2019 is when the show turns 30 years old and that is when they should end it, but they won’t as it makes FOX a lot of money. same thing with Doctor Who for the BBC which is losing money as they had to take of the air the Channel BBC 3 for the youth. PS Family Guy is better
So many memories i still remember when my brother borrowed a PS1 for the first time back in 2002/3 and I was able to play Crash for the first time, it was one of the first video games I played, I was so amazed and happy
As a kid i was always stuck at 23:10 and did not know how to progress further in the game... Never did it occur to me to stand in the center... Even though he tells you to stand in the center I did not understand it because I was new to America and my English wasn't great at all.
I remember me and my brother playing this game for hours! I would beg him to play so I could watch cause he was so much better at it. We’re old and live in different states now but I think next time I visit him I’ll have to make him play it again. Thanks for making this what a nice walk down memory lane lol.
With Crash Bandicoot 2 being my first ever game i've ever played and the announcement of the trilogy remaster. It makes me so damn happy!! So for now, im going to go back to my psone, jam crash and watch this guy shine through it like a pro ;)
Growing up, I played this, Warped, and Wrath of Cortex. This was probably the strangest one for me, and I spent the least time playing it, but having matured, it might be my favorite.

Oh man, the moment he first hits that warp room, instant nostalgia overload.
I was playing the remaster earlier today and I just had to comeback to look at the original version to see how much has changed. To be honest, the original still holds up really well today. What I like especially about the original game is that when you load into a level, there's no additional loading screen, you just jump straight into it. Which I've always liked because it reminds me of playing this game back in the day where I use to say to myself: "How on earth do I get this coloured gem?", and that's when you had to look up guides to try and help you. Good times back then.
They could have done a better job with the remastered music though I can barely hear it in the Remake it's way to quiet

Back before the days of the internet, you had to be either extremely lucky or had to get a Player's Guide or a Strategy Guide to know where all the secrets and collectibles were in the specific video game you were playing.

This game was made WAY after the internet, though.
First played this game with my then best friend in middle school right around when the big jump from 2D to 3D was really taking off in games. I still didn't have my own PS1 yet, so just getting the slightest taste of games with these kinds of graphics was really exciting, and I was always dying to go over his house to play this. It seemed like it was always a dark and rainy spring morning every time I was over there around that time, and we'd dim the lights while playing, and I remember the warp room in particular had this quality to it that worked really well on those kinds of days. Just playing through the Turtle Woods style levels, half of those had rain in them, and then there were all the murky and wet sewer levels and the surfing ones. I will always associate this game with gloomy rainy days, but in a positive way. I can still smell my friend's living room when I see this, and I always get the urge to watch this or play the game whenever it rains.

***** For 100%, you just need all the normal gems, crystals and regular relics. For 105%, gotta do all that, get GOLD relics, complete all the extra levels that open up after getting a multiple of 5 in relics AND THEN gold relic THOSE levels, complete the final boss fight and then 'talk' to coco in the warp room afterwards for a hidden gem.

+Alexander Wong Yeah. If you spin when you land on that metal "UP" box next to the red gem, it'll force you to stop jumping. From there, slide off of the box while jumping and spinning at the same time, and if you do that fast enough, the game will let you body slam which will get you a little bit more height and you could get the red gem if you time it well. :) lol Try it though. (Slide, Jump+Slide, SLAM)

benaldo138 Well yeah. I did get all the gems back when i played it, but it was frustrating trying to find all the secrets kinds screwing a really well made game. For example on Crash 3 the secrets were much more easier. You didn't have to jump into holes just to find a secret gem. Especially the one with the bear. To get the secret you have to go back and jump in the hole. Seriously i found that one by a freak accident.
Best in the series imo, warped started adding too many gimmicks.

Aaron Tolmaci Agreed. I'd arguably remove the jetpack levels and replace them with something else, but for the rest the gameplay was on point. Crash 3 gets praised a lot, but while it had some great ideas the vehicle levels were way too many and the gems were very poorly distributed.

This was definitely the best of the original 3 I thought, just the right mix of challenge to it to make you say "just one more try" every time you died. The third one was too easy to me and I didn't think much to the original but this definitely goes down as one of the greatest platformers ever :)
I don't know man, getting all platinum relics in the 3rd was not really easy. You also could try to beat the Developer times, which are almost impossible to beat, but none of this is required for a 105% run, and getting all gold relics isn't hard at all.

Never really got a chance to finish the second game in my childhood as the disc was broken, and when I finally got to finish it recently using the emulator, it just didn't feel as good as beating 3. Don't get me wrong, the second game was awesome as well, but 3 has more varieties of what to do. You get to play as Coco, too and the level designs are all gorgeous, plus it was kind of the grand finale of the 'true' Crash Bandicoot trilogy, your showdown with Uka Uka and Cortex and all that. :) Love Crash Bandicoot games (the classics, at least) so much. ^_^

tbh the show stopped being good since 2003 and when the movie came out was when they should of ended it. Simpsons in HD for the first time and on the big screen was a fitting end to The Simpsons. After that the show became stale even more and mediocre and the only good thing about it now is that its in 1080p HD and looks like Family Guy. By next year in 2019 is when the show turns 30 years old and that is when they should end it, but they won’t as it makes FOX a lot of money. same thing with Doctor Who for the BBC which is losing money as they had to take of the air the Channel BBC 3 for the youth. PS Family Guy is better

So many memories i still remember when my brother borrowed a PS1 for the first time back in 2002/3 and I was able to play Crash for the first time, it was one of the first video games I played, I was so amazed and happy
As a kid i was always stuck at 23:10 and did not know how to progress further in the game... Never did it occur to me to stand in the center... Even though he tells you to stand in the center I did not understand it because I was new to America and my English wasn't great at all.
Sounds like how I struggled as well on that game.... believe me I never got any further at all...

Growing up, I played this, Warped, and Wrath of Cortex. This was probably the strangest one for me, and I spent the least time playing it, but having matured, it might be my favorite.

(Of course, the full Crash 3 tutorial will be cool too, but I've been able to beat all the games but Crash Bash with all the percents, so that's why I would love to see how well the master could do! Also, beating Oxide on all tracks is CTR is a rough mistress).

This was one of the first games I got with my first PS1 back in 1998. Took me over ten years to figure out how to get 100%.
the only game out of the trilogy i had beat 100%. and without guides. This game was fun. Loved searching for colorful gems. hahaha.
Crash 1? too difficult.
Crash 3? Those time trials are so tedious.
