Rajan crying at 1:49 is one of the most underrated moments of this movie. Yes, this movie was about Ishan and Ram Shankar Nikumb, but the mental support which Rajan had given Ishan throughout the movie is unmatched. Very rare to get such true friends like Rajan. Along with Nikumb, he too was desperately waiting for this day when his friend finally gets the appreciation he deserved. Truly a hallmark of an ideal friendship...

Something so underrated in this entire scene is 1:18-1:28. When Ishan trips, Aamir Khan is there to prevent him from falling. He then takes him to the stage but leaves him on his own to walk and get the award.
It just fully captured the role of a teacher: support them as they stumble but let them get the full credit they deserve

I think aamir with this move wants to convey the message that when anybody be it a child or a grown up man/women gives up, thinking that he/she does not deserve anything in this world he can't do anything that a normal human being can easily do so when that human being achieves something that is difficult for a normal human being to achieve then his/her mind freezes for that moment and while with this psychology it happens with Ishan and Aamir a guy who pays a lot of attention of Ishan's pyschology thinks at the nick of time that Ishan may collapse at that point of time so he goes up to give Ishan that support according to me aamir has thought In this way(as he is the director)

I remember at the age of 8 when I saw this movie, it moved me so much that I actually went a hugged my parents, uncle-aunt and grandma for being an immensely supportive family. The Maa song still strikes a raw nerve among us who have seen this movie in the childhood. Later when I came to know that this movie didn't make it to the top 5 of the Oscars, i felt that Oscars has lost Taare Zameen par and not vice versa.
