    Im 6 3 200lbs and i love riding it. Have went on several rides with my wife 340lbs combined weight, and still got around quickly, even climbing some short but steep hills with ease. So much more fun than a big quad ❤

    tow rating is definetly underated. i use mine to move calves on our farm and i usually take 5-6 at a time, and each one weighs over 100 pounds. and that is exluding the trailer weight

      Keep me posted! I'm still loving mine very much. It has done everything I've asked it to within reason. If you treat it right you should get many many years out of this sweet little machine

      Do 300's have a speed limiter collar? If so, that will have to be removed.

    I own a kawasaki bayou 220.i love my machine especially with it solid rear axel. The brute force is just a fancier version of it, i especially like the 4 wheel drive part if it.

    Hows the shifting work? Looking at the recon or this one im 6'2 so what your opinion between the two?Recon 250? And do you just put the lever in high or low then it's fully automatic? Same with reverse?

    • @ThomperBeThompin
      @ThomperBeThompin  4 года назад +4

      The shifting on this one is very easy. It's fully automatic so you just put it in low gear, high gear or reverse and hit the throttle. You do have to come to a stop to switch between low and high gear. I'm only 6 ft tall and I sat on a Honda recon recently. The Honda although a great machine, is way too small. This one actually fits a full size adult. I don't think it regret getting this over the recon mostly because of the ergonomics. Recon is still a great machine for smaller riders.

    I like solid axle ATVs for towing because the trailer's tongue weight isn't supported by the ATV's suspension. My 2019 Yamaha Kodiak 450 (IRS) is only rated for 33lbs. of tounge weight, so I can't even use it to tow my small power boat around the yard with it.

    • @ThomperBeThompin
      @ThomperBeThompin  4 года назад

      I also have the 2020 Kodiak 450 and I just checked the manual to be sure - you're right it says max tongue weight of 33lbs. That said, this Brute Force 300 with a solid rear axle has a maximum tongue weight of 35lbs. And these have completely different mounting methods for the rear hookups. So, I'm not putting too much stock in those probably conservative weight limits. I doubt any modern ATV has a very high tongue weight.

    • @danielc5205
      @danielc5205 4 года назад +1

      @@ThomperBeThompin My old ATV is a Yamaha BearTracker, soild rear axle. I use it all the time to move my boat and our bumper pull car trailer around the yard, well above it's 500lbs. tow and tongue weight rating. But, both the power boat and car trailer is too much for my Kodiak's IRS.

    • @ThomperBeThompin
      @ThomperBeThompin  4 года назад

      @@danielc5205 how much is the tongue weight from the boat? I ask because it seems like the IRS can handle quite a bit considering the ATV has a 530 pound load capacity including people, cargo, etc. From my preliminary research the low tongue weight is due more so because of how the hitch receiver attaches to the ATVs. It simply can't handle extreme weights without risk of bending at the attachment point.

    I bought a 2019 with 80 miles on it. It sat for a while im sure... I'm having a hard time getting it to idle. I've drained the carb bowl and messed with the idle adjust. I figure it needs more break in. Any other suggestions?

    • @ThomperBeThompin
      @ThomperBeThompin  Год назад +1

      I resurrected an ATV once that had sat for a few years. Because it sat there with ethanol fuel in the tank/carb, I had to clean out the tank thoroughly (then dry it of course), replace the fuel petcock assembly, and take the carb apart to clean it, including spraying all the jets with carb spray. I would check the entire fuel system. You probably don't need to clean out the tank, but maybe pop the carb off, disassemble it and give er' a gooooood cleaning with some tooth brushes and spray the jets with carb spray. Then I'd look at the fuel petcock assembly, then the tank, then the fuel lines, perhaps the fuel filter needs replacing too. If memory serves correct, that is a simple in-line filter. (I'd do that anyways, cheap and easy).

    How does it handle when climbing uphill?

    • @ThomperBeThompin
      @ThomperBeThompin  Год назад +1

      It actually does well assuming you have decent traction. There's plenty of power for regular hill climbs, but obviously can't do the dunes.

      The 271cc engine is a KYMCO motor. It’s very reliable my 2014 artic cat 300 has the same engine as this model and the others mentioned in the video. The engine is made In Twain it’s very good quality and very reliable. I believe there all highly underated not enough people know about these. Mine will go 55mph all day it’s so fun fast and light. I out led headlights and a light bar on it. It’s more fun than a big 1000cc heavy artic cat I had. All my friends that have big atvs agree the smaller atvs are more fun to hop on and ride around fast. They fit slot more areas than the big wheelers.

    Do you know how to remove the speed limiter from primary clutch? I bought a 2020 kymco mxu270 and can disassemble down to belt. I am not for sure how to squeeze the secondary cluth so that it leave slack in belt so it can be replaced on primary cluth. I bought a impact wrench just for this purpose. The dealer I bought it from charges $35 an hour, but said he was charging me $75 for something that other kymco dealers do for free when you buy one of these size 4 wheelers. I have found no videos whatsoever on this bike. I have found 90cc. I was told they are the same as the one in your video, including a few other manufacturers.

    • @ThomperBeThompin
      @ThomperBeThompin  4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately I don't. I have not taken apart the clutches on this thing yet. I'm actually quite satisfied with current clutch engagement, top speed, and the power band. It suits my needs for the terrain I ride.

      ThomperBeThompin gotcha. Looking between the brute force 300 and recon 250. Leaning toward brute force bc 50 more cc and cvt. A couple dealers near me still have 18’s that are new for around $3600. Good deal? Kinda wondering why they still have 18’s tho

      @@WillMV8893 I would go recon. Since this kawasaki is not a true kawasaki and honda reliability still is #1. 50cc power is lost in the cvt vs a geared trans like the recon. Now on the otherside as a recon owner it is a bit of a struggle to explain (many times) why and when you shift up and down to the women in your family. We have a footshift model. That being said you can start off in 1st 2nd and even 3rd (my light 14 year old daughter) and the bike doesn't complain and it has all kinds of pep. We use it around our 5 acres for towing a 5x8 trailer picking up branches from trees and such. Wife uses it to carry weed trimmer and fuel and I use it for the chainsaw. I use it over our 500 foreman and 420 rancher cause its easier to get on and off. It will go through much more than you would expect with a good pair of mud oriented tires. I put swamp lites on our and my sister rode it through some pretty rough mud trails in wisconsin one weekend when her main atv took a dump. With a light rider it would just claw through with a little side to side wiggle. Overall a very solid (mostly unchanged for years) design.
