The Skyrim logo was fantastic! Just lost for words I assume the programming makes it as mathatecially perfect as possible the scale and accuracy of the pictures.
I was watching Toy Story 2 with my daughter and there is an Etch A Sketch that can draw pictures for Andy's toys. It got me thinking, I wonder if anyone has programmed an Etch A Sketch with step motors and a controller. This is very cool, Dave!
How long it takes the "bot" to do one of those drawings in reality?? i mean, this video is clearly accelerated but i wonder how long does it really takes...
Could you make an other video like this please, highlighting finer resolution/detailed pictures? Like 2mm text, or a page of text with the lines in lined paper as the tracer, please illustrate the finer abilities of the etch a sketch?
At the time, I had a license of Mastercam. Programs posted would run through a custom post processor that would only output X and Y position and split longer motions into small pieces
how difficult would it be to have the program analyze a .jpg photo and create the closest approximation of it on the etch a sketch? That’d be cool..something you could possibly sell ;)
Processing an image to find the areas that need to be "coloured" would be easy, but creating the motion through that would be tricky. You could split it into islands and fill in the islands, but that might not be as obvious as it seems. You could use some CAM system for the pathing

I feel like the entire video was timed perfectly to go with the skyrim drawing

This needs more views
That’s the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen!!!!

I feel like it was about 15 minutes, but I don't remember. It was so long ago
how fast can you make it before it all starts breaking?
Not a ton faster. It just had k'nex gears and they slipped if it went much faster
Please post more photos.
Good backlash compensation!

I could if I still had this. As with most of my projects, it isn't long until they are cannibalized for parts for other projects
This was awesome
Great job!
How in the world did you get mastercam converted programs ??
At the time, I had a license of Mastercam. Programs posted would run through a custom post processor that would only output X and Y position and split longer motions into small pieces
I'm thinking etch-a-sketch Kindle
Hey great job Dave!!! Back to work....lol

Good job! Greetings from germany!
Like a boss! this was awesome
I have to try this
SKYRIM! EPIC IS EPIC!
that was freakin great!!
CLOCKWORK ORANGE
Question: Are you even better at drawing with pencil and paper?
Amazing!
wow that is awesome!!
Very good!
Flat panel vector display!
NICE
I need one
he didnt draw it he programmed an arduino to do it for him its cool none the less
Cleaver
Wowwwww
Witchcraft
Haha cool :D
Amazing work, but bad programming, were it changes place can be cleaned up.
For example letters next one other, use the closest way to the next one.
Have you ever actually used an Etch A Sketch??
Who un liked
