Btw, congrats for making this fit the stage it was meant to play, for some reason this is probably the swap that works the best in OG Sonic 2. IMO, CNZ 2p really fits Casino Night and OOZ really fits Oil Ocean, but your take really works well for Oil Ocean
Thanks. Like I said in a previous comment, me and Sonic 2 have a lot of history, and I wish I could someday see someone accurately capture the feel of a SegaCD styled version... by reusing a modified framework for a canceled Sonic Advance 3: Remake project or something...

@@bladewolfdarknight1605 it fits fine for that particular Cyber Genocity take (The one from Sonic 2 Long Version) but for more accurate ones I feel like it just doesn't work well
The graphics from an SNES game became associated to Genocide City forever because of that hack. Its nostalgic, though I was like 5 years old when the last release of Long Version came out, I first played it for the first time when I was in middle school. @@RobinNerdington I have I similar history, as a child I became really interested in cut content, prototypes and stuff like that thanks to the Simon Wai build (Which was all that was known back then iirc), so it made me really interested in hacks that tried to recreate that, like Long Version and Sonic 2 Delta, I remember them fondly, even if they weren't that accurate (which to be fair, they couldn't be, there was too little information back then)

There's so much about this song that I love. The clanking samples add so much, it feels so nice seeing Oil Ocean using the song originally intended for it, and god the night time visuals add so much to the song. Has the "hard work" vibe that the demo had. The only complaint I have is the background is at night instead of evening. But the night background would work well for act 2.

Your remixes are good dude but you are doing the same thing that most people who makes hacks about the scrapped content of Sonic 2 does and that is not paying attention to the fact that these songs used in prototype can be just placeholders for zones that didn't had its own songs yet and ended without having one once they were deleted from the game. Sand Shower using the song that is now the theme of Oil Ocean is an example of that, there is the possibilty that song was always meant for Oil Ocean and was used for Sand Shower because of its desert theme and because said zone didn't had its own song yet, personal opinion I think that the song fits with Oil Ocean because it has an industrial theme to it but doesn't fit with Sand Shower because of the eastern theme. Cyber City is another example, the zone never had an official theme created for it so I think that the best option is either create a new song or use the Casino Night 2P song as there isn't any evidence that the songs for Chemical Plant and Death Egg were meant for it.
Please, listen back to the Masa version of Oil Ocean and Death Egg and tell me again if it fits those respective stages... Plus, Cyber City is a special kind of zone due to the fact it is not just one location, but multiple locations across the island. The dread factor that the "Death Egg Zone" music gives is exactly the kick it requires, it wouldn't work at all with CPZ or CNZ2P.
@@bladewolfdarknight1605 See?, this is what I'm talking about, you guys are either not paying attention or are just straight ignoring the fact that things normally change during development for something that team working on it thinks it's better than the previous ones, take the Prototype Songs from Sonic 3 as an example.
