I find it so interesting how everyone says this isn't a crowdpleaser, young people don't like it, women don't like it. When I ask around my friends (late twenties women, not fragheads in the slightest) it's by far my most popular fragrance.
I wish it were the same for me 😅. Everyone I know hates this - some say it smells like boozy ink, some say it smells like dusty pencils. I agree with both, though it is much more nuanced and complex than just that.
Lalique is literally the most versatile and interesting designer house when it comes to perfumes. I am really looking into maybe getting the A L'extreme because I love the Sport flanker. 😊 Good review!
@@chinami6534 Concurred - l'Insoumis, Ombre Noire and the Equus releases are criminally underrated as well, in my opinion. I even wear my girlfriend's Le Parfum from time to time
I certainly didn't take to it at first, after buying it blind (in fact I immediately regretting buying it!). BUT, it really grew on me and now it's one of my favourites. Most definitely a 2-spray max IMO, it's very strong (despite being susceptible to going nose-blind), and overspray actually made me feel a bit ill. Less is more and it's fantastic, but it's not for everyone. Nice review!
@@williammorris7895 Agreed. I always recommend this one to "beginner" collectors who want to branch off into "niche" perfumery. Bold and unique enough to expose someone to non-designer type scents without being too extreme [no pun intended] or unapproachable. Also, inexpensive enough to not end up being a regrettable purchase if the person doesn't take to it.
Just got a bottle yesterday. It’s almost May so I won’t be wearing it any time soon but I’ve been smelling it pretty constantly for the past few hours. I definitely get the “gothic” feel that some people use to describe it. It almost smells ancient. Like opening a scroll that’s been in a damp cave for a thousand years or something haha. Honestly it puts me in a sort of heavy mood. Excited for the right conditions to test drive it.
thanks I subscribed! i like your pictureesque style of describing scents its like im there smelling it myself. You are talented and break down fragrance notes like a pro!!!
@@realscentreview I'm still figure it out to be honest. That initial smell reminds me of a new and recently unpackaged leather product. It's not bad, but it's not something I aspire to smell like. It starts getting interesting after a while. At first, I had a hard time figuring out how I felt about it since the smell is so unfamiliar to a casual cologne user like myself and that's probably part of its allure. After several days, I'm starting to really like the skin scent. I need a little more potency and sillage so I don't have to put my arm up to my nose to enjoy it. I've trayed spraying more than usual to see if I can get more presence from it, but it insists on being subtle and haunting...or maybe i'm just noseblind to it. I'll be seeing my sister-in-law over the holidays. She's an avid perfume enthusiast and I can't wait to get her opinion. Thank you for asking!
Nice review bro. I have a bottle of that and it is absolutely fire for the price. Average "freshie wearers" wouldn't appreciate it until they smelled it dried down on someone else! 🔥
So after watching this video, I started to wonder if folks were out here saying the word (Fragrances/Fragrances) the wrong way, so I double checked, but no.. guess it's just a quirk here, lol. Great review!
This was a great assessment of ENE. I’ve always thought it had a slight boozy aspect to it as well. And it is definitely for a slightly more seasoned nose. It took me a little bit to really appreciate it, but it’s become something I actually crave smelling. I mostly wear it on evenings at home, but I have worn it casually out of the house a few times. Surprisingly, I once had two people follow me around in a store to ask me, “What is that cologne you’re wearing? It smells incredible!”
If I'd blind-bought this at full retail, my head would EXPLODE! idk about the bottle in this video, but my L'Extreme has VERY poor performance and projection even after practically bathing in it! Reformulation destroyed it, unfortunately 😢. Wouldn't care if I didn't LOVE the way it smells
Ah, sorry to hear that. While it isn't anywhere close to ''beast mode'', I've certainly never had issues with performance. If you want performance, try Oud Imperial by Perris Monte Carlo. It's a similar scent profile to A l'Extreme but on steroids.
@@realscentreview i checked...your batch is made on december 2021....mine is March 2022 but still performs good as I allowed it to mature in the cupboard
Just bought the Extreme last week. (Late to the party). Smells nice but performance on my skin is the worst I’ve ever experienced. After a hour it’s virtually undetectable. Might be cheap, but a complete waste of money for me.
Just ordered it and thinking if it’s too dark I might try layering it with the Sport version which I like a lot! Thanks for the info 👌🏼 Keep on sniffing 💯🫶🏻

@@realscentreview Le parfum is perfection and totally unisex imo. 👍😊 I also enjoy Amethyst quite a bit but that one leans feminine. 👍

You've described it better than I could.

I just ordered this as a blind buy but haven't received it yet. I never been so curious about a fragrance. I can't wait to give it that first spray.

This is on my list.
If you enjoy Bentley for Men Absolute, Gucci PH, etc., I think this is extremely similar to all of these.
