Airfryer Chinese Salt & Pepper Chips: Beautiful Budget Side Dish

  • What a beautiful side dish and pretty tasty too. Someone suggested it (I cannot remember who - so sorry!) but it was a great suggestion. The only ingredient I couldn't get from Lidl was Chinese 5 spice (didn't have time to go further afield) so I googled good substitutes and surprisingly (for me) Garam Masala came up.

    Looks amazing Kerry. I made the sage and onion sausage plait last night and it turned out superb, I left out the onion because that was in the stuffing anyway, really enjoyed it. Might try these over the weekend, I love trying different things and enhancing the old favourites. Excellent video as always, take care. xx

      Thanks Ian! 😀👍Cooked the sausage plait again tonight, but added mustard to the inside of the pastry (thanks to the comments section for that) and had mash, peas and gravy. Flipping delicious (oh and I fried the onions first b4 adding, perfect👌)

      Oh Mel n Suz💕💕 I've already used one of the tools, a kind of spikey tool that's ace for digging up weeds - fantastic👌. I'm moving the allotment diaries to their own channel @allotmentplot25, planning to start daily vlogs (monday to friday) next week - this channel stays the same, mon/wed/fri😀👍💕 (oh and I've bought some 5 spice!😄)

    I've had salt and pepper chips at a Chinese restaurant once and the cut ingredients were like minced, they were really small but they tasted great.

      That's nice Mr T👍 was following a specific recipe which said cut in slices, never had this homemade or in a restaurant - interesting yours were minced or cut really small

      We get this in the Chinese takeaway in Ireland, they also add bite size pieces of breaded chicken. It’s called a spice bag. Absolutely yummy.

    My airfryer is from tesco called go cook. It has a basket inside but onky 1 draw could i remove the basket and use the bottom to fry stuff? Thanks

      Hi Becky, I would say yes. I often remove the crisper plate and 'fry' stuff like onion or whatever and the element and fan are cooking from above, it works so hopefully it will with yours (not seeing your actual Airfryer - I'm guessing!)

    Don't u add chilli flakes?Diced garlic?MSG?sugar? All these things and more are the best way to do the salt and Pepper chips 🍟

    Just discovered this myself i think its about £6 for a tiny portion in chinese places...you can buy or i buy the ready made tubs off chinese salt n chilli sessioning for few quid makes easier but job well done there 😜

    Got a Ninja Duel air fryer and can't get nice chips out of it. Tried my own and various frozen varieties. Just taste and look like oven chips, dry and carboard like, which I'm no fan of. Any suggestions? ...

      I use lard Steve (sorry for the delay, catching up with comments👍) before that thou, used olive oil and seasoning - salt mainly (with lard too). Not 100% healthy but delish, par boiled and not par boiled both good results think it's the oil that helps , plus lots of shaking.
