I’ve been waiting for this video! I have been one of the commenters asking for advice. I would like to start off by saying thank you Emma for being size inclusive. You really went the extra mile by having plus sized creators giving their own tips and experience. I absolutely love Tess and Flojo, thank you for introducing me to them! This is an excellent video! Much love from a plus sized groovy girl! 💖😊

Another good tip is to watch 60s films,/ 60s 70s festival concerts- watch the audience, all shapes and sizes...most had great style, which ive lifted over the years , and their casual cool style is more accessible to emulate than the more designer model style😊😊

I’m not plus size myself but I think another thing that could be useful for those who are is learning to sew and finding sewing patterns in your size, vintage ones or new ones that have a vintage vibe. There are so many patterns in different sizes for a cheap price at thrift stores! I agree with Tess that as a community us vintage clothing wearers should be sure to leave clothing the size it originally was if we can so we can share and leave enough for everyone to enjoy ❤

Emma you are amazing! Congratulations on a brilliant video! It is so thoughtful and admirable of you, that you organised for your plus sized friends to share on the video, as it isn’t an area you are familiar with (being plus sized). This shows great wisdom on your part, most others would just try and speak on the topic, with no knowledge about it.
Well done to you 👏 😘💕

I’m a British size 16-18 and I wear reproduction late 60’s and 70’s styled clothing. I mostly buy psychedelic and geometric style long dresses and also jumpsuits. I shop online at Joanie for dresses, and Cider, Urban Outfitters, and Lucy and Yak for jumpsuits. I also get woolen pieces with retro 70’s geometric style prints from Cider too.
I used to wear true vintage pieces in my teens and early 20’s when I was a size 10-12, but that was in the 90’s and early 00’s and the 60’s and 70’s weren’t that long ago back then so clothing from those eras was easier to come by.
Our charity shops (they are not called thrift shops here) aren’t very good for finding vintage clothing at all, especially in bigger sizes. Even shops styling themselves as vintage clothing shops here only tend to have 80’s and 90’s clothing in my city if you’re lucky, and they aren’t cheap on their pricing. I’m sure there are some selling 60’s and 70’s clothing, likely in London for example, but it’s less likely to find plus size items and I’m 170 miles away from the capital anyway.
Despite this I have an entire wardrobe of reproduction late 60’s and 70’s style clothing and dress vintage styled every day. I get lots of compliments about my clothing and overall style when out and about and this weekend was given the compliment of someone saying my outfit reminded them of Janis Joplin so that shows it’s possible piece together obviously 60’s and 70’s era specific outfits entirely from reproduction items.

It’s so smart to look at the country of origin, Italian vintage can be XXXL according to the label and will still not fit over my XL body, because it’s TINY

I have accepted my fate of not being able to find very good 60's and 70's in physical stores, so I mostly wear retro pieces or vintage from the 80's/90's that looks 60's-ish. Once in a while I treat myself to a true 60's or 70's piece that I buy online. It's always expensive because shipping costs a lot of money.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Maybe shopping vintage inspired would work? They often offer free shipping if you go over a certain amount xx
