I am a newbie to Tharntype. These 2 actors get so immersed in their character that their emotions can't end when filming the scene has ended. That is a lot of trust. I understand that it is common for them to comfort each other after an emotionally draining scene. Have enjoyed this series immensely. Thanks Gulf and Mew.
It hurts my soul that Mew goes for secondary roles. He deserves being the main role in every series and show he goes for. He honestly was the only savior in What the Duck. Everything else in that series was painful to watch -_-
I have so much to say about the magic these two actors pull down when they work together. Mew has such connected top energy and Gulf gives such amazing pillow face. Their bed scenes are like watching art. Such a great job on such difficult material. I truly wish parts of it were written differently, because the nuances makes it a series I can only watch in pieces sometimes. I still loved the love story.
See! Even from the beginning Daddy Mew already was whipped for his baby Gulf! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 He took that kiss and rolled with it! Set the tone for their whole relationship! Now I know Mew felt safe in trusting Gulf, and I love them both all the more!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have an entire AU/fanfic/theory in my head about their casting, which basically is that Gulf was actually a BL fan and had seen Mew in 'What the Duck' and fallen for him. After seeing what he had gone through with the whole Art drama, and hurting for this person he had found feelings for, there was also a sliver of hope that his feelings may be reciprocated, as Mew was pretty much outed at the time. So Gulf submitted to audition for TharnType, knowing/hoping that Mew would be as well because his fans had told him he should (you can even see Gulf looking at Mew in photos that Mew's fans took during the casting!) When given the option of choosing who he would want to play Tharn, of course Gulf would choose Mew. But also, since Mew could feel the actual intense interest coming from Gulf, he naturally thought 'this would be a great fit since we have chemistry' and chose Gulf as well; and that is how they ended up as TharnType. This comes from many, many hours of watching MewGulf footage, from how comfortable both actors were during workshops, how open Gulf- who had never done BL previously- was to actually practicing kissing scenes, and how just generally kind and open he was to Mew (although that also just seems to be the way he is built.) Mew would probably naturally be a little guarded at first so it would have taken a very open Gulf to let him give his heart again in the way he seems to have. Their personalities also seem to match well, where Mew is a caretaker and protector and Gulf is willing to be protected and taken care of, but without losing himself at the same time. So yeah, that's my secret fujoshi fangirl fanfic for my favourite ship. If they aren't together and it is just acting, then that's cool too, but damn, they have some chemistry between them no matter what.
