The RAF has a go at that in 1943.

They are removing dams to be able to charge more for drinking water. The Netherlands just announced that they will charge more for drinking water.

Removing the smaller dams is one thing but removing the functional hydro-electric dams seems at odds with their stated goal of getting off fossil fuels.

Every dam removal is a different story. The video says there are 10s of 1,000s of dam that no longer serve their original purpose. I think if you looked into the power producing dams removed, you would find a good reason for there removal. Ive looked into several in the US and safety is the most common reason.

Once they smell blood they'll just keep going after bigger and bigger dams. I agree, low head dams that haven't been used in 50 + years can go. I can imagine in Europe where water power was used to power the first factories can be removed. Same here in the US. But here in California hydro electric isn't considered a renewable resource. Wind and solar only. And they are allowed to kill birds, even protect birds like the bald eagle without a thought. Getting whacked by a wind turbine blade isn't the only thing that kills them. They have huge solar plants that focus mirrors on a tower to generate heat. Any birds that fly through get ignited, burnt to a crisp and fall. They call them "streamers" leaving smoke trails in the sky.

@@georgeskatleenvaneylen-van4218 I know , people are so short sighted . Europe has removed 100s of damn over the last decade and now they have the worst droughts ever recorded . All damns main function is water storage. Then , these same 'fish huggers' block traffic claiming the droughts are from C02 driven climate change ... Not droughts from lack of water reservoirs.
