    Nice snappy episode 👌 the lighter setups look way more fun than just dragging them in! I was thinking if this were the same Gummy you showed on IG, looked delicious.

    great video and reels. I would use them exactly like you with lighter line probably 20lb braid a gummy would be excellent.

    Hi Steve, great tip with the baited jigs. I was wondering though, how does your boat handle the bar crossing, be interesting to see that. cheers mark.

    Never used a conventional reel before but how do you release the line kind of like a baitcaster? they dont have a button from what i can see. I know this is probably a stupid question but ive never used a reel of the sort before.

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  8 месяцев назад

      Not a stupid question at all. On lever drag overheads like these, you simply pull the drag lever all the way back to the free spool position to release line, then push it up to wherever you want it to fish and retrieve line.

    Starlo i want to get back in to overhead lbg spin. Be honest money aside what do you think?

    • @zadar1
      @zadar1 Год назад +1

      Mind you rods are more of a problem than reels without going custom.

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  Год назад

      If you wanted to mix a bit of spin and live baiting, yes, but if purely spin, I’d choose something else: star drag overhead or big spin reel.

      Oh i cant find a decent 10 foot oberhead rod on the shelf to save my life. I hear ya. Reels are the least of my worries.

      @@zadar1 I still have a 10 foot guttsbutt ugly stik I bought forty almost years ago originally with speedmaster 4 overheads but use the opposition daiwa fast reel these days. my lighter stick is an even older ironglass custom still with old ABU Ambassadeur and Daiwa millionaire bait casters. that old gear is still doing the job. Overheads still for me for many uses but finding decent options almost impossible with custom builders seemingly gone too.

      @@zadar1 I’d been looking for the same for 2 Abu 6000s I’ve had for years. Can’t afford a boat these days so land based. Got a couple of the speedmaster overheads I found online and been using them on Queenfish near Mackay with great success. Made me look for a reel for a 12 footer I have. So happy with the rods it made me look at the Speedmaster reels. Question is which size atm. Or more to the point, which size drag.

      A fair bit. The stats quote around 500 metres of 15 kilo mono... so a lot of braid!

      Totally different. But yes, you can do most of this stuff with big, modern spin reels. Some of us just live overheads. Different strokes, I guess…
