There are several videos on this fix, but yours is the best. You did not skip any steps, showed exactly what you had to do, and even detailed the ground wire size tool you would need. Most all of us Vette owners have some ability to repair things, but you watch the videos to make it easier, look for what might require some "wiggling/prying" and avoid chasing things down. Well done sir.
Just completed the install thanks to your video. The written instructions that come with the LMC5 are good but nothing like watching someone actually install it to make it more clear. Hardest part of the install was contorting my body to get to the connectors (if you are old like me you may want to do a couple stretching exercises to loosen up before you begin!). Disconnecting the relay was kind of a pain too as it was stuck pretty tightly and had to work it hard to get out. When removing the wires make sure to push them firmly into the connectors and hold before inserting the terminal tool. I had to try it a couple times before they pulled out. Thanks for the video.
ty bud mine finally gave up ,,it was working intermitenlly on,,,great views of install was a little intemidated to try this but you helped me gonna do it this weekend
I spoke with owner Richard a few days ago and ordered the part for my 99. It locked up on me once and reset fortunatly, but will not happen again with this bypass. Thanks for the great post Brax!
Will this work to get my Z06 2004 Corvette to quit dying when I let out on the clutch and it slams on the brakes and dies. Starts right back up but wont untrac at all ?
Hey mate, I noticed you have the yellow, black, & orange wires cut and heat shrunk above the bcm. I noticed mine were cut at the plug as well, do you know why this is? I am diagnosing a bunch of wacky electronics on this car.
Very clear video 👍 I have a 1998 C5. I've had the sterring column lock bypass done. And now get the Pull key, wait 10 secs. message sometimes. So I want to do the LMC5, but heard that on some of the 1997 & 1998's that even doing both doesn't work. And they have to replace the entire BCM. I hope mine isn't one of those. 😧 Have you heard that? But great video, easy to understand 👍
Thanks for making this video, I just started getting the “Service Column Lock” message and wasn’t sure how to go about fixing it... you made this look easy so I’ll go ahead and take a crack at it! :)
Was leaving the Bank and the Service Column lock popped up. I could start the car. Move the steering wheel but it would turn off after I took it off idle. Removed the key and turn it to “on” 3 times till it told me to wait 10 seconds and it got me out of the situation. However. I’m def installing that LMC5. Don’t want it to happen again
Hey this just happened to me i ordered the kit, thanks for this video i really hope it works and I'll let you know how it goes it sounds like the exact same thing on mine who knew this was such a common problem. Hmm
I was excited to see your video as I have had the service column lock message on my 1999 C5 for some time now. I took a look at the BCM and the LMC5 kit is already installed on my car but I still get the message. Any ideas?
Great video, I watched the video from Richard where I ordered the part and he said nothing about un plugging the column lock relay and that’s what I didn’t do, so I’m going to go try that, I do leave that un plugged correct?
@Brax_beezy hey hoping you can help me, so after I installed it I turned the car on and it had no message thought it worked, this morning I get in it and now it says to pull key and wait 10 seconds, what’s that all about?
My steering wheel does not lock, I don’t think it ever has since I’ve owned the car. I’ve always had the “Service Column Lock” message which has annoyed me. This is the reason I installed the LMC5. I followed the written instructions but I’m going to look back over it tomorrow and ensure I did it the same way as you.

my vett shows column lock and it also shows pull key and wait 10 seconds I installed the lmc5 kit exactly the way you show and car will not start I plug in the column lock relay and the car starts and I can rev the engine up but when I put car in gear engine turns off and the 2 mph thing happens .I took it to a dealership and they had it working all the way to my house then problem started all over .they replaced the bcm twice the first one they fried I don't have any codes except collum lock
