- 39 receptions, 501 yards, and when the team needed someone to step up, he was the guy quarterback Matthew Stafford looked to. Puka Nacua is having a special season. He has broke the NFL rookie record for receptions and yards through a players first four games and does not look to be slowing down anytime soon. Not bad for a 5th round pick out of BYU. This is the story of Puka Nacua the wide receiver breaking the NFL.

As a BYU Football season ticketholder, I am not surprised with Puka's production. He is a humble, hardworking team player who raises everyone's level of play because of his example, focus and leadership.
PUUUUUUUUKAAAAAA!
What he is doing is truly unbelievable and is so fun to watch
Idc who you watched when, lol the whole world is shocked by his production.
He plays with such joy its impossible to not root for this guy!
He always has a smile on his face.
Having Nacua, Kupp, and Atwell all on the field at the same time, They WILL make playoffs. It is amazing to see a great player, let alone two making a dynamic duo. Though... to have a DYNAMIC TRIO of players who are all catching the ball, are fast (or strong), and getting yards. Rams will be a sight to see by Week 8 when Kupp is back fully healthy and into swing of things.
As a die hard Browns fan, I picked up Nacua and Atwell off waivers in fantasy football and fell in love with the way these guys move down the field, especially the rookie who is crushing MULTIPLE NFL records. Rams are now my favorite non-home team!
I got him in one of my leagues and he has been so fun to watch
As a BYU fan, its hard to see him leave, but props to him! Best of Luck!🎉
Very impressed with this guy on and off the field.
The Rams KNOW what they're doing. 9 out of their 13 picks were team captains in college. They're looking for CHARACTER, they're looking for accountability their looking for EFFORT. There is a reason they wanted CAM AKERS OUT of the building, guys like him are CANCER to a TEAM. It's also the reason no one saw the Rams coming this season, the 'experts' don't put ANY emphasis on TEAM, choosing instead to yammer about the latest RB/QB combo guy who teammates HATE playing with because the jackass is running at the slightest sign of pressure. The Rams are a TEAM and they elevate certain guys who they feel can handle the LOAD. Puka has the CHARACTER and HUMILITY to manage that sort of attention. Note the lack of BLING on his personal attire.
That is an excellent and insightful comment Toulouse.
Well said!
Hollywood can't write a better script than this. This would be a tear jerker for sure with even just this amount of success considering losing his dad at the age of 12, being the youngest compared to hsi siblings and his dad believing he would be the best of his brothers at football and becoming special before his passing, having a walk off touchdown win on sunday. Incredible stats and start to a rookie campaign... Hoping for nothing but the best for Puka. I am a fan!
"Will Puka Nacua become a future NFL Superstar?"
In short, the answer is no. The reason? He already is a n NFL Superstar.
Rams found a jewel that's for sure
He may be the steal of the 2023 NFL Draft
His unique talent is that the DUDE gets 5+ yds after contact time and time again.....that is SPECIAL.
Repping the Y. 🤟🏻
As a BYU alumni, I'm always stoked to hear about former Cougars doing well! That Puka plays for one of my favorite teams is icing on the cake! I too thought he had huge upside potential but knew being a 5th rounder he had a long road ahead just to make the roster. Well, he's as legit as every BYU fan KNEW all along!!! I can't wait for the Cooper and Puka show to start, add in Atwell and dang, that's a serious WR corp for ANY team!
I can't wait for him and kupp are on the field together.Horns up.
It is going to be a scary combo
gonna be hard to cover both of them ..
Puka is not a future wr star .....he already is. Rams were damn lucky to draft him due to how good he already is and how good he is going to get. He just might be the greatest wr the rams have ever had on their roster. Glad the rams still have Stafford so that his passes can keep adding to pukas stats.
Slow down buddy lol
Isaac Bruce & Tory Holt are the Rams greatest WR’s
He is lucky to be drafted by the Rams and have SB MVP coaching him the route running skills, a QB with super arm throwing at him repeatedly and a HC who believes in him. No one is a star without good coaching.
@@YouCanChangeYourWorldToday ahhh yes....the greatest show on turf. How could I forget. Yet mark my words pukas bringing back the greatest show on turf part two.
@@tdscasanova7428 honestly I just hope everyone stays healthy and Kupp can comeback even stronger than before….
As a Rams fan, my God are we great at picking the perfect people so that their young players can succeed. Having AD, Matt, and Coop walking around every day along with Mcvay to help you is absolutely a dream. And he's willing to learn and has grit
anyone else remember the jet sweep touchdown play to start out last season at BYU
nacua deserves this, hope he makes it big... 👍👍
Excellent recap of Mr. Puka!
I wish him well! I enjoyed watching him play at the Y.
The only reason I tune into the pros anymore is to see what's going on with some of our local stars.
If he can stay healthy he’s going to have an amazing season.
I hope he can the injury bug held him back from showing out in college
He played through Oblique injury and still did amazing week 2. I doubt he is that injury prone (though anything could happen)
@@Tyler-nh6op It's football, everyone is injury prone. A broken foot doesn't mean you're injury prone.
@@sam805236 Injury prone means that you are more likely to take a serious injury than not serious. Example: Someone who takes a hit to the side but knows how to land/fall vs someone who takes hit to the side and doesn't know and buckles their feet/leg and gets injured... When I referenced Injury prone, that does not mean being invincible.
Nick Chubb wasn't injury prone yet he just suffered a season (and potential career) ending injury.
Having Puka and Cooper Kupp both is crazy.
Watching Puka Nacua play is a real treat.
Hes a 5th Rounder !
He is learning from the best, Super Cooper Kupp. He will only get better.
I can't wait to see where he is five years from now
Very interested to see how his production is after the return of Kupp. It is no surprise that he is doing well. Kupp took him under his wings and taught him everything he knows.
Nacua will still have catches it'll be evenly spread i think. It got to the point where kupp was getting double coverage coz he was the one getting the 1st downs/touch downs. With dual threat its harder to cover. When kupps back i see jefferson sitting out a lot.
I think production increases, who do you cover ? Puca or Kupp. Thats why sometimes when part of a dynamic duo is out the other one actually produces less as now they get the focus of the defense.
Good luck covering them both! Someone's always going to be 1 on 1!
It is going to be a terrifying combo
Puka is averaging about 24 (fantasy) points a game. I will assume it will drop down to about 16-17 (where Tutu Atwell is currently) and Kupp will get about 20 a game. Unless Kupp is injury prone//is not fully back when he is able to put pads on. Then flip the numbers.
There is NO DOUBT in my mind that Puke would be any less of a role than he is currently. He just found his way from third string to being a starter with how impressive his play has been. He's getting game balls, he is the leading WR in all NFL in receives and yards, first rookie to get this much attention and results in the first 4 games of the year as well. Rams would be utterly braindead to drop him back down to 3rd string or even 2nd string. I believe the WR list will go Puka as WR 1, Kupp as WR 2, Tutu as WR 3 all starting.
It's just CRAZY how much he plays like Cooper Kupp!
They should give his older brother a second look. He is solid too
Nacua and Kupp is a deadly combination.
BYU CONTINUES to bring PRIDE and POISE to MANY Teams in the NFL.
Names like Steve Young, Zach Wilson, Todd Christensen, Marc Wilson, Kyle Van Noy, JAMAAL WILLIAMS
TAYSOM HILL, Vai Sikahema, Jim McMahon, Dennis Pitta, Gifford Neilsen, Chad Lewis and so many others.
P U K A N A C U A, is a brilliant and savvy WR who is taking the NFL by storm.
Finding out that Puca played for my rivalry high school I am finding it a little harder to like him haha
He’s the real deal
Straight baller
definitely a Super Star of BYU products, with God on his sidee!
going to be offensive rookie of the year. His style of play is fun to watch and easy to cheer for him. Only concern is that the physical style will increase odds of injury - but looks like he'll cause more injuries to DBs than he's going to suffer in his career.
The Rams found the needle in the haystack and its time to run with it they really did their homework draft week they found three jewels who should be a Ram for a while in Avila Tomlinson and Nacua good luck gentleman on your rookie season hope you win the Superbowl
Mr. Clutch in the NFL.
He’s not the youngest. Little bro, Tei, is still in high school.
Yes
💯💪🏽‼️
Yes🎉
If he can stay healthy, he will be successful, and I hope he does.
This is why Mel and Todd and Jordan and rest of ESPN's draft experts had Nacua rated so . . . oh, right.
Offensive rookie of the year
As a 49ers fan, Rams are going to be tough to guard when Kupp gets back.
Kinda crazy, they're mostly rookies and going through a rebuild
🇼🇸 lighting up the league 🙌
Just again shows that 40 time is not everything there is a floor I believe 4.6 for wideout is probably the floor for WR.
Oh no. If the nfl is now broken, who’s going to fix it?
I think you mean "Deseret News," not "Desert News."
If the Rams invest more in the O-line Stafford will break all kinds of records with these receivers 😮
How was he a 5th round pick?!
I didn't even know there was a rookie record for receptions and yards through four games. Does he stand a chance to smash the record for the first 17 quarters?
Haven't you ever watched ESPN? Their super computers can spit out any one of millions of statistics on the fly. There is a record for anything you can imagine.
Puka nice but as a lions fan this is just what stafford do he make any wr look good 🤷🏾♂️
This guy, Achane and Kyren Williams probably going to win me a lot of money on underdogs this year.
