      Pointless: Any fighter archetype that trades weapon training for something that acts as weapon training but doesn't count as weapon training for any of the reasons that make weapon training so good.
      Over Powered: Fighter doesn't have enough good archetypes, at best it has some good ones and some not bad ones.

      @Teal Teal Here's the FAQ: paizo.com/paizo/faq/v5748nruor1fm#v5748eaic9qto, notice how it directly references archer despite archer functioning exactly as weapon training with bows. If it doesn't use the words weapon training it doesn't count.

    In our high level campaign I made a demetional dervish/ master of many style archetype and stacked dodge based ac with concealment, and attacks of opportunity. So basically I get to Teleport to a monster and trigger an aoo then get to strike before he hits me, then again twice after, then hit him again for the attack. Then I get to blink to another monster for each of my regular attacks. In a crowd its about 24 attacks in a turn.

    New to 1e, and Bonded Witch was one of the archetypes that really stood out to me when I was scrounging Archives of Nethys. Another favorite of mine is the Spirit Guide Oracle. . .it's just so thematic, versatile, and scales well with multiclassing into something like mystic theurge.

    Interesting Archetypes.
    One of my favorites is the Scarred Witch Doctor Witch archetype for Orcs and Half-Orcs. The pre-Errata version was cool as it changed the casting stat to Constitution. I'm assuming Paizo felt that Constitution based casting was too good.

      That errata was a joke. Survivability my tush, using Con as your casting stat doesn't help when you got low hit dice.
      All the errata did was make it absolutely busted for Half-Orcs and Heritage Humans, while leaving it near useless for actual bloody Orcs!

    There are a few archetypes I enjoy majorly. The biggest one being the Elder Mythos Cultist Cleric. Charisma is a great stat from an RP perspective, but having limited spells known REALLY blows. Seducer Witch is kinda bad and Feyspeaker Druid is REALLY bad, but Elder Mythos Cultist is actually pretty good. So going Elder Mythos Cultist on a Cleric allows you to have the sweet sweet high Cha score, but with full prepared cleric casting instead of lame, lame, lame limited known spells oracle casting. Granted, you lose the ability to grab command undead if you want to go down that road, but you can take the feat Dreamed Secrets, which you can use to cast Dominate Person on intelligent undead via the agent of the grave prestige class (or an undead bloodline sorcerer dip if your building a cha-SAD mystic theurge, which is actually a solid idea for a necromancer since going Theurge gets you two control pools for animate dead, giving you the most undead controlled in the game.) The Elder Mythos Cultist also makes an absolutely amazing summoner by default, as you can grab the dark tapestry subdomain to just slap a buff on all your summons, and since you keep your Aura you can still standard action summon with sacred summons like a normal cleric. Being a Cha-based cleric with an evil bent is just so awesome.

    Living Grimoire a good one, but the rest on this list were meh! I'd say this list needs:
    Pact Wizard (there are actually 2 archetypes with this name, but I mean the one from Haunted Heroes Handbook - it gets a LOT of bonus spells, and only requires a max of 15 min to prepare all his spells per day)
    Blood Kineticist (since expanding from blood into water at 7th level makes it the only class able to use a composite blast with kinetic healer (granting 2d6 HP per 2 levels - and it can bypass resistances/ immunities and guarantee a hit - albeit at half the regular damage).
    Psychic (Psychic Duelist) (because it can force an opponent into a psychic dual, leaving that player helpless, therefor allowing an other party member to make a coup de grâce).
    And the Summoner (Master Summoner) (because it can summon 1d4+1 shadows a dozen times per day (only needing 1 round instead of 1 minute to summon them), which each deal ability damage and VERY quickly can end any encounter since they each attack your touch AC!!)

  • @TheSilversepiroth

    One of the ones I personally like (besides my proclivity for Constructed Pugilist and Gun Chemist as those on the Discord group have seen) is the Goliath druid. They lose the ability to sacrifice spell slots to cast Summon Nature's Ally to be able to cast Enlarge Person the same way. Their domain list changes, and if they take an animal companion while they're restricted to megafauna and dinosaurs, that animal companion can be targeted by Enlarge Person as if they were a humanoid. Lastly, they lose some flexibility in their wild shape to be able to use it as Form of the Giant instead.
    It's a neat archetype that could be played as a druid whose dedicated their lives to protecting these ancient creatures thought to be extinct, or as a character that's been raised around these creatures their entire lives

    • @d6damage93

    Cavalier Ghost Rider works well with the Duskwalker as the race gains Ghost Hunter and my personal favourite alternate trait Olethros Agent. Also seeing a corpse pale rider with a ghost mount and their weapon supernaturally attacks ghosts is a great character entrance to the party/village/city.

  • @ShiningDarknes
    @ShiningDarknes 5 лет назад +2

    Living Grim: Int is honestly not great as a casting stat replacement when you had wisdom before...you know a save stat. It also replaces a lot of stuff that makes the inquisitor great...honestly you might as well just play a warpriest.
    Bonded Witch: Great. If you do not plan on making use of the stuff familiar gives no reason not to replace it if you are playing half-elf.
    Ghost Rider: One of few architypes that make the cavalier worth taking instead of the (in my opinion) superior fighter. One of the worst things about the cavalier is losing your mount, the replacement will never be as good. With this you can just summon a new one that is just as good. Also fear immunity and the ability to charge over difficult terrain, water, and eventual "basically flight" is a nice touch.
    Water Dancer: Again, replacing a main stat with a non-save stat IMO is usually not worth it. You replace evasion, a life saver, with burn, a consequence of keneticist stuff...not good. Wild talents instead of feats, makes sense given what this class does...honestly just play a kineticist, you will be better at what this class does in almost every way.
    Gravedigger: honestly I don't much like the investigator so I won;t comment on this except to say it doesn't make me like it.
    All quirky archetypes some obviously better than others. If you are looking to spice things up or maybe a game you are going to be in has a theme these might fit nicely into, all good options even if Grim and Dancer are just trying to make one class into another that will always be able to do what they do but better.

    Personally I prefer the Cryptid Scholar archetype. It doesn't alter much, but trading out Studied Combat for the ability to boost the party's AC and call for an all out attack is really satisfying for someone that likes to play characters that aid the party by telling them what they're fighting and how to kill it. That and since you're boosting AC so much the party can focus more on their offense.

  • @v1v10rnitier
    @v1v10rnitier 5 лет назад +1

    So I feel you have actually UNDERESTIMATED the Water dancer and I need to add to this.
    Nereid's grace says "When unarmored and unencumbered, a water dancer adds 1 point of Charisma bonus per monk level to his Armor Class *as a dodge bonus.* If he is caught flat-footed or otherwise denied his Dexterity bonus, he also loses this bonus. He uses his Charisma score instead of his Wisdom score to determine the size of his kipool *and the DC and effects of monk class features.*
    Since no ability takes away the monks AC bonus skill you are effectively getting your charisma to AC twice plus your dex. Add in any class with an archetype that gains the monks normal ac bonus ability and that is essentially 4 stats added to your AC. You are basically untouchable.

    • @mangon1
