The Rhur/Rhineland occupation only occurred because the Weimar Republic couldn't repay its debt and war reparations. The allies and especially France knew this but decided to give the Germans another moment of humiliation. The occupation certainly wasn't a peaceful affair and that bred a environment of hatred and revenge.

i like the idea that if someone was to go back in time and prevent the Holocaust, or WW1/WW2 for that matter, that something far worse could have taken place. The idea that these wars, the Holocaust, the nuclear bombing of Japan, D-Day, Pearl Harbor- are all the best possible outcome for our timeline.
