  • Brian from Apex Detail needs no introduction. But I'd never met him until this year's Creator Summit, and so I had the pleasure to speak with him about his story. We also talked about why he rarely, if EVER, compounds paint anymore. Oh, and he tells about his life-changing experience -- how he recovered from a stroke and dominated RUclips!

I agree with you about the fact that daily driver cars are bread and butter and people are VERY enthusiastic about their cars. I love cars too...

It was crazy to hear he’s not really into deep compounding and sanding OEM cars anymore ….clear costs really are getting thin

@@HawkProDetailing agreed! Great info going forward. I have basically gone one step the last year or so too.

@@HawkProDetailing I just detailed a 2019 Ford Explorer that had a hood replacement a year ago... the average paint thickness was 50 microns! The rest of the car had an average of 100 microns. I ceramic coated the hood to give it more protection, even though the client is paying for a one-step.

This was a great interview. I appreciated Brian’s explanation of a one step versus a paint enhancement. Nick, I appreciated you asking the what the difference is. You seem to always ask questions that a newbie like me has.
